Ambulance allegedly stolen by Mass. hospital patient crashes into storage container

The breaking news we've been following all morning now. We have learned that an ambulance involved in this serious crash was stolen. And this all unfolded in West Boylston just late last night. Boston 25 News reporter Kelly Sullivan joining us live now from the scene of that crash. Kelly, you just got that update from police just moments ago. I did. And so we got the update from Worcester Police because this right on the border here of Worcester and West Boylston. So Worcester Police say that a patient stole an ambulance and then crashed it. And we can actually see now the pathway of where that crash happened. So you can see these orange markings here. So that's where the ambulance went up onto the dirt here, went over this rock embankment and then crashed over into that shipping container. Now, according to Worcester Police, they got a call shortly after 8 o'clock last night that a patient stole a coastal ambulance from 100 Century Drive, which is the UMass Building for Behavioral Medicine. The patient drove the ambulance up the street and then subsequently crashed. This was a scene here, 1500 Century Drive in West Boylston, the patient was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. And so the ambulance involved in this crash was from Coastal Ambulance Transportation Systems. We know from Worcester Police that nobody else was in the ambulance at the time, so nobody from the ambulance service was injured. But of course, this all still remains under investigation.
