Hey everyone, it's Deja from crocheteverafter.com.
Today I'm doing a review on Lion Brand Landscapes yarn.
So, I was at the yarn store. I only got to one recently
because I was very far away from all yarn stores.
But I got to Joann's and saw the colors on these and had
to buy them immediately because they are so pretty and bright.
And I love bright, self-striping yarn, so I wanted to try this out.
It reminds me of the Red Heart.
Unforgettable yarn. It's really soft.
It's 100% acrylic though, so I'm hoping that unlike
the Unforgettable that wants to stick to itself constantly,
that I won't have the same problem
with the Landscapes because it is 100% acrylic.
It's a medium worsted weight. This color is
The color is Boardwalk,
which is like the classic kind of rainbow colors here you can see.
Pink, orange, yellow. They're a little bit, you know, out of sync.
Like, there's purple next to yellow,
but it's so pretty. I love the colors.
And then this one is Tropics. And it's got some really pretty oranges
and hot pink and blue and green. Just such pretty colors.
I can't wait to start making stuff.
But it looks hopefully the twist will not cause us any problems sometimes
when it's twisted. When you're crocheting, it'll twist the opposite way
and you'll get kind of that twisted up effect.
So we'll see how well that works, how long these color runs are,
because it looks like some of these might only be a couple twists
around, like this blue right here, so we'll see how long I can get,
or how many rows out of the color I can get, I have a couple ideas,
my daughter has requested a scarf made in this one,
so I'll make something up for her and share it with you guys,
and I'm still thinking about what I'm going to do with this color.
I'm sure it'll be a scarf though because I got two.
So they're both 147 yards, so I'll have about
300 yards for scarf, which would be plenty, and of course
because sheen wash, but it says lay flat to dry,
so maybe just because of the twist in it it might cause it
to be more halo-y than if you machine dry it, so well
block it and see how it looks after it's done, but I'll show you how it looks
with the projects.
I like the
Red Heart,
at least
not for me,
so it wasn't
as much of
a struggle
to get
it out as it was with the Red Heart.
Unforgettable, but it did give me a little bit of a problem.
Now one thing that I kind of like about
the red heart more than this yarn is the color transitions.
So the colors I loved on the skein
and I thought that it would kind of transition
a little bit better than it does.
This reminds me more of like using up your scraps.
Like it's kind of an immediate color change to the next color,
even though they have, like you can see right here,
it looks like they put the blue and the yellow
or the teal kind of in yellow together to make this transition,
and then the yellow and the purple here to make that transition,
so it looks like they tried to make it more of like a transition,
but because maybe the color choices,
it just looks more like a kind of a scrap.
So, I don't know if you guys are getting that too,
or if you can get transitions better than I do,
but I kind of get that from both colors.
This one's a little bit less because they're all very dark colors,
so they kind of blend a little bit better, but you can still see,
like, you get a real sharp break from the colors rather than them kind
of blending together better, but they're still really pretty colors.
So it does.
Have that break, but because they're colors that all go together,
it looks like it's more thought out than just a regular kind
of scrap afghan or scrap scarf or whatever it may be that you can make.
Both of these scarves are available in the shop.
These are little girl scarves.
This is my flower garden scarf and my butterfly scarf.
That's what their names are, they're not just mine.
But the yarn was really easy to work with.
It blocked very easily.
It's got quite a halo on it, so if you don't like halo in the yarn,
you probably don't want to use this yarn.
If you need more stitch definition, this is pretty good stitch
definition, but you can see that the 3D elements of the scarves
are not quite crisp as they could be even after blocking.
But overall, I like the yarn.
I like the bright colors of it, especially the colorway.
project but if you're looking for something like
this it's probably not going to work as well as
maybe the uh
the Red Heart Unforgettable wool. so let me know have you tried
beeline? have you tried some different colorways
as a whole? let me know below.
