By keeping patients warm, we're able to keep them healthy
and keep them out of the emergency room.
Mercy Hospital is getting a big assist from some young hockey players,
helping keep kids warm this winter.
The Powell Junior Islanders dropping off nearly 100 coats
at the hospital's family care center Tuesday,
all to help children in need.
Other people should be warm,
and we know how that feels because we're in ice rink every day.
From newborns to tweens, the coats come in all sizes,
making sure there's something
For every child that needs one.
We want to keep little kids, like, children warm and, like, comfort.
It feels good, like, buying stuff for other kids,
like, make them feel, like, more better.
And while these players are used to working together on the ice,
their coach says this is a lesson that goes beyond hockey.
Them being able to help other families who, you know,
may not have some of the things that they have,
and for them to see it, you know, just really...
Especially around the holiday time,
it just brings stuff to life for them.
Hospital staff say these donations can make a real difference.
Children, they lose heat easier than adults,
so they're more prone to diseases such
as frostbite, such as hypothermia.
A team effort off the ice,
making sure no Islander is left out in the cold.
Thank you.
