I am so proud of Tacoma right now.
We passed Measure 1, Safe Homes for All,
by over 60 percent, and the late votes, I think,
are going to lead a trend our way.
That's such a decisive answer to the landlord lobby
that dumped 800,000 into this election
against tenants.
People clearly in Tacoma want to stand
in solidarity with their neighbors, want to make
I want to make sure that slumlords are held accountable.
I want to make sure...
We want to ensure that illegal rent hikes,
slumlord conditions, toxic mold are taken
care of.
We want a city that is affordable and dignified for everybody.
That's what Tacoma said tonight,
and they absolutely rejected the campaign of deception,
lies, the illegality that we saw from the opposition.
So I'm so proud of Tacoma.
Our movement that Tacoma for All
and our coalition has built has just been so inspiring to me.
We've had over 150 volunteers,
over 600 individual donors, raised $250,000.
We were able to reach a scale of voters that grassroots movements
in this city have not been able to at this before now.
The movement we're building, I think, is just beginning.
We want to build Tacoma into a city of, by,
and for the working class majority that calls this city our home.
Safe homes for all! Safe homes for all!
