Hey everyone, I'm going to show you how
to do a double treble crochet. I use this in
my owl basket pattern,
so in case you've never seen it before or aren't exactly sure
how many wraps to do for this stitch,
I'm going to show you how to do it real quick.
So for a double treble, all you're doing is adding one extra wrap.
From a regular treble. So with a treble crochet,
you're going to yarn over twice before you insert your hook.
With a double treble,
you're going to yarn over three times before you insert your hook.
So just insert your hook under both loops of your next stitch,
if that's what the pattern calls for.
Pull up your loop, yarn over,
you're going to work off two loops at a time.
So you're going to work off the first two,
then you're going to yarn over, work off the next two.
Yarn over, work off the next two again,
and then you have two left, yarn over, and finish those off.
So double treble is going to have three loops in the center of it,
which also means three yarn overs.
So again, yarn over three times, insert your hook,
pull up the loop, and work off in groups of two.
Yarn over, pull through two, yarn over,
pull through two, yarn over, pull through two.
Now, if you're working a whole row of this,
your first turning chain is going to be five
chains.
So, with a treble crochet, you usually do four.
With this one, you're going to do five turning chains,
and that can also be adjusted, too.
That's just, you know, that's the main rule for a double treble.
But if you crochet higher, you might need an extra chain.
If you crochet tighter, you might need less of a chain.
So it's totally what's going to work and look best for you.
But just remember you're going to yarn over three times
for the double treble and work
off in groups of two just like you would
for any stitch above a double crochet.
So that's how you're going to do your double treble.
