How Minnesota commissioner exposed ICE 'propaganda'

They kept doubling down on saying that, you know, these people are just being released, dangerous people are being released into the streets of Minnesota. This individual is walking the streets of Minneapolis with impunity just yesterday. A lot of them. We're already in custody. They were not out on the streets. They were not out in the community. They were either in state or federal custody. But federal agents sometimes seem confused about custody status. I started looking and I made some phone calls. Sure enough, I found out that one of The men DHS claimed that they were looking for was in fact in custody in the state of Minnesota. A quick search of public records showed one of the men has been in prison going on two years now. Most of them were already off the streets. Every name was checked. Every record was checked. At best. DHS fundamentally misunderstands Minnesota's correctional system. It's what I told Donald Trump himself. I said, Mr. President, you're being given bad information. At worst, it is pure propaganda. You can only assume that this became a propaganda game. The Minnesota Department of Corrections told me today that these repeated claims that they do not honor ICE detainers are categorically false. But even when they were checked, they continued to push it.
