We begin the edge tonight with breaking news
from Warren. A man seriously hurt
in a hit and run outside of White Castle.
Fox 2's Jessica Dupak is live on the scene
off Eight Mile as police search for the driver
who apparently sped off. Jess.
Yeah, this is an awful situation. I talked to some guys,
some first responders that were out here earlier today. As you can see,
It is clear it wrapped up shortly before we arrived here.
We are at the White Castle off Eight Mile
near Mound in Warren.
We'll show you some video of the surrounding area. Again,
no scene by the time we got here.
Warren police wrapped up the investigation relatively quickly.
Now I'll tell you what happened.
There was someone parked in the parking lot here at White Castle.
There was a man that was walking out after just finishing up
his meal. As he was walking out,
That driver backed up over him and then ran over him again.
It's so awful for the people that were working.
They actually heard him screaming. And when they
came out, they saw a man with a very serious head injury,
other injuries to his legs. And he was
completely unconscious.
First responders describing his condition as critical. He was
rushed to an area hospital.
And as I said, he is in critical condition. Now that driver,
after running the man over two times here
in the parking lot at White Castle, he left
ran from the scene, drove off from the scene.
Police are actively looking for him as of this evening.
They tell us he was in a Chrysler 300 and he is believed to be
From this area, but they're not giving
a license plate or any other description.
It does appear from video from the White Castle.
They do know who they're looking for.
But at last check with Warren Police, they say they
do not have that man in custody, the driver of that vehicle.
Again, the victim in all of this in critical condition.
We will stay on top of this one.
Reporting live in Warren, Jessica Dupnak on the Edge.
Yeah, just awful.
Two questions for you, Jess.
Just to be clear.
Do they believe this was intentional, one,
and number two, in terms of any damage to this car?
You know, oftentimes when you hit something or someone head-on or back
into someone, they expect some kind of damage.
Anything here?
Yeah, I don't get the indication from my sources
that this was on purpose at all.
The security video didn't indicate that there
was any kind of argument or something like
that, but it's to remain,
they got to question that driver to find out really what happened,
but they have to find him first.
As far as damage to that vehicle,
I think it's fair to say that there is damage on that
vehicle, but again, police were not giving any kind
of specifics about it other than
it was a Chrysler 300.
All right.
Our Jessica Duke back for us live today.
Jess, thank you.
