Atlanta, look, it's a city that never sleeps and we have everything
you need to know with food and lifestyle expert Erica A. Thomas.
Erica, thanks so much for joining us here on Good Day Atlanta.
There's so much that we need to do this weekend.
Let's start us off here with Meals on Wheels.
There's a benefit giving back.
I love Meals on Wheels.
It is a wonderful organization, but more importantly,
they host incredible events for wonderful causes.
Tomorrow is a meal to remember,
and it is going to be an event to remember.
It is going to be held at the St. Regis
with some of Atlanta's biggest philanthropists,
and this will be my second year attending,
and it keeps getting better and better.
What's a better reason to get dressed up
to celebrate seniors in need?
I mean, I was just about to say,
I know you're going to look dressed to the nines there.
This is something that we can all everyone needs an event
to get dressed up for to go out and have a good time.
All right. Let's talk about a new spot
that's opening up at the former CNN Center.
And I think it's so cool that they're transforming
that space. Walk us through it.
Yes, downtown Atlanta is going to be a hot spot,
and we have Maestros coming from Miami.
Everyone loves this restaurant.
They have over 20 locations nationally,
and now they are turning Atlanta into one of their
locations, which I think is going to be incredible.
Phenomenal steaks, wonderful seafood towers, and great cocktails.
All right, you got me at the cocktails,
and this next one has me at the oxtails here,
Aretha's, and walk me through if I got that name wrong,
in Cascade Heights there, that's
a new restaurant that's opening up at the point.
Well, Aretha's at the Point is an incredible restaurant.
I love Chef Deborah Von Trees. This is a family-owned business.
It's inspired by her mother, and then her daughter is the director
of beverage, and they have phenomenal food. I am always there
because I love the oxtail shiitake goat cheese lasagna.
It is phenomenal. And the cocktails.
I highly recommend you visiting.
It's phenomenal.
It is an experience that you are going to want to repeat.
All right.
So if you like mushrooms, you talked about that in the lasagna there.
Let's take a trip to Ellijay if you are a real mushroom fanatic.
I love LJ mushrooms. They are absolutely incredible.
I feel like it's absolutely
imperative that we support our farmers and they have so many mushrooms.
This is a family-owned
farm and you can, they have self-guided tours.
They also have a you pick farm. So you can pick
out beautiful flowers
and do not forget to pick up your mushroom coffee. I'm a fan and it is
It is incredible and it has incredible health benefits as well.
And it will be a beautiful drive, especially this time of the year.
All right, before we go, let's go to Brookhaven.
Mexican food, cocktails, you can't go wrong with that.
At all.
El Val has opened their location in Brookhaven.
I love the Midtown location, so I am ecstatic that they have expanded.
They have a very impressive wine list.
The food is stellar, and I'm excited
to see how many more locations they're going to open up
because it is phenomenal.
All right. Keep up with my name, Twin.
that's what I'm going to call you, from Eric to Erica on Instagram
