That's still celebrating big wins,
and Republicans are pointing fingers.
Now, President Trump blamed the midterm defeats on not being able
to transfer the enthusiasm at rallies to individual candidates.
At the same time, Vice President J.D. Vance pointed to the continuing
war with Iran as the main reason for the election defeats.
And newly empowered Democratic Party leaders promise aggressive
oversight during President Trump's final two years in office.
Today begins the great American comeback.
Whenever Trump defies the will of the American people or the law,
we will launch investigations,
take him to court and entangle him in legislative razor wire.
This was a rejection of Republicans in Washington
and Democrats just happened to be the beneficiary.
Now, an AP poll of about 100,000 midterm election voters found
that most voters blame President Trump's policies for inflation.
And nine out of 10 of those voters said the cost
of living was a big factor in their vote for Congress.
Republicans are now refocusing their attention
on the presidential race in 2028.
I'm Dave Clark in the KTVU newsroom.
Now let's go back to the desk. All right, Dave, thank you.
Yep. All right, let's head over to Sal.
Keeping an eye on traffic. I know the Richmond-San Rafael
Bridge, I think, was slow. Where are you starting?
We're going to start this time in the South Bay,
Pam, because I have a new crash, 85 northbound near Saratoga exit.
And boy, that's really making
a big mess of 85. It hadn't been that bad,
but now that crash is going to make it tough.
Some people around 280, some people who diverted to 87.
There was also a crash, North 101 near 87 as well.
So these crashes in the Santa Clara Valley have all
of a sudden kind of ruined a commute
that, in my mind, wasn't that bad.
But now here we are with slow traffic.
San Mateo Bridge, moderate.
Bay Bridge backed up to before the maze.
At 740, let's go back to the desk.
All right.
Thank you, Sal.
We've been talking to you this morning about
that increase in bag fees for JetBlue.
It's one of many increased costs
for people looking to book flights this year.
Oh, another one.
All right.
With high jet fuel costs pushing up
ticket prices, we want to hear from you.
We're asking you our poll question this morning.
Have you cut back on traveling this year?
Here are your options.
I'm taking fewer trips by plane.
The other is I've switched to driving or nope, full speed ahead.
With more trips, 58% say they switched over to driving,
28% say full speed ahead, 14% say fewer trips by plane.
But we'd love to know what you think by going to ktvu.com slash vote.
If you have a gas-powered car, it's not necessarily cheaper to drive.
Yeah, no.
And I do know one thing people have increased if they're flying.
Those carry-on bags, they're full, right?
Because they're like, well, I'm not going to pay to check a bag.
I'm going to shove everything in this smaller suitcase.
Well, you know, that's my move as well.
But then you get to the gate and they're like,
can you please, yeah, can you please, you know.
I check your bag at the gate. Well, I love that bag.
I love that that game, though, because then you get to.
Yeah, but I get for free. Yeah, but you have to put
the small one in there and then I have to go wait for it.
If it was a big, you know, that's true.
These airlines are slick. They're too slick.
They are. They just yeah, they're trying
to make money. They're not nonprofit.
I love it.
FYI.
All right. Keep weighing in. You can scan that QR code.
Go to KTVU dot com slash vote.
It's kind of evening out.
People trying to figure it out. We'll be right back.
