Ardsley motorcyclist killed in Valhalla crash, police say

According to Mount Pleasant Police Chief Paul Oliva, the driver of the vehicle was taking a left hand turn here off of Zeiss Drive to get onto Columbus Avenue when the motorcyclist struck the car. Photos shared with News 12 show the damage to both vehicles. The victim was pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center. He has been identified as 48 year old Gianfranco Petruolo of Ardsley. The driver of the car sustained minor injuries. A six year old passenger also in the car. Was not injured. We asked the Westchester County Department of Public Safety accident investigation team to assist us with the investigation. Preliminarily, it looks like speed may have been a factor on the side of the motorcyclist. While most shoppers at the Rose Hill Shopping Center said speeding on Columbus Avenue is not an issue, some said it is. Thankfully, you don't get a lot of pedestrians in this area, but with the way people drive, I wouldn't want to walk here. The accident is still under investigation in Valhalla, Westchester County.
