Formation flying looks easy… until you try it.

My friend Tony and new friend Jim take to the skies with their massive Freewing A-10 Thunderbolt II twin 80mm EDFs, flying V1 with Jim and V2 with Tony.

Flying formation with jets this big is no joke. Small mistakes get amplified fast, and at one point Jim loses orientation and nearly loses the aircraft. With quick thinking and solid recovery, he brings her down safely.

Mistakes were made by both pilots, lessons were learned, and the challenge of formation flying was put to the test.
