With stories that matter to you, this is Fox 6 Wake Up News.
Now at 8, police trying to learn more after four people
were found dead in a West Bend home.
What we know about this tragic scene.
And the Packers, they have a tough test in New England,
how they plan to get past the reigning AFC champs.
Good morning, Milwaukee.
Thanks for waking up with us on this glorious Sunday.
We're taking a live look outside.
The sun is shining.
However, you're going to need the layers.
As you're heading outside today,
much warmer though than than this time yesterday. Definitely.
And it looks better to less frosty as well. We've been continuing
to track warmer temperatures this morning than yesterday.
And of course, that's going to help prevent frost from forming, prevent
some fog from forming, especially since our winds have picked up.
But all in all, it is a step up compared to yesterday.
Like a step in the right direction. We certainly do.
Let's take a look at our temperature change.
Most areas are in the double digits warmer than yesterday.
Now we are again seven degrees.
warmer in Milwaukee. Again, if you want to round up closer
to the double digit range, but the warmer temperatures will make it
a little easier heading outside. What's not going to make it easier?
Is the winds because the wind is adding a actual chill to the air,
making it feel colder.
Overall, we're seeing the camera shake a little bit.
Yes, the winds are starting to pick up.
We have temperatures in the low 40s,
but that blue number on the right is really what it feels like.
So most areas feeling like the mid 30s if you're heading out,
which is why you still need the layers this time of year.
Keep those layers around as well because we have even colder air
arriving by the end of the week, which we'll get to coming up.
But for today, we should be seeing
our temperatures getting into the upper 50s today.
Lots of sunshine and enjoy it.
Sunsets today at 4:35 p.m.
Our big story this morning out of West Bend.
Police say they found two children
and two adults shot and killed inside a home.
And investigators are still working
to find answers as to why this happened.
Fox 6's Bill Pisciato has the story.
This is devastating.
I don't know what I'm stating.
I can't can't believe it.
Disbelief sums up the feeling inside
this West Bend neighborhood Saturday
after police say four people were
found dead inside this home near
Edgewood and Wisconsin.
Everybody within the home was connected to one another.
Lieutenant Brian McAndrews with the West
Bend Police Department says the victims
include a woman, a boy,
a girl, and a man.
We believe the suspect that's involved was inside the home
with the individuals found deceased. I indicated that a firearm
that we believe was involved was found inside the home.
Police say another girl was taken to the hospital for treatment
and they found a dog dead too. Police have not released
the victim's identities as they're still notifying family members.
Everyone's just in shock. I'm definitely in shock.
Not knowing who it was, I'm still I mean,
I can't I can't fathom outside the crime scene.
Neighbors say they're struggling
to process the fact that this happened.
It's just really sad.
Several came by the crime scene tape Saturday
to get a look at what they could, including Verale.
I'm just down here trying to figure out if these were some
of my my kids friends grieving a tragedy just down the street.
My family and I will be praying for them.
They'll be in our thoughts.
For now, they can only wonder what happened.
As police try to figure that out.
That was our Bro Prisciano reporting.
Police say this remains an active investigation
and reiterate that there is no public threat in the area.
If you know anything about the incident,
please give West Bend Police a call.
And if you or anyone you know is in a domestic violence situation
and needs help, call the Domestic Violence Hotline
at the number on your screen.
That's 1-800-799-SAFE.
Meanwhile, the Racine County Sheriff's Office captain who lost her race
for sheriff last week has now been placed on administrative leave.
The captain is Carrie Madrigal, who you see there.
As Sheriff Christopher Schwalling makes clear
this has nothing to do with the election.
The sheriff's office tells Fox 6 that Madrigal is on leave pending
the criminal investigation of another individual
and a pending internal administrative review of her actions.
While Madrigal isn't the focus of the criminal investigation.
The Sheriff's Office says Schmaling turned
the allegations over to the Kenosha Sheriff's Office
to protect the integrity of that investigation.
The Sheriff's Office is not saying what that case is,
but we do know the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office took over a case
from Racine that led to the arrest and charging of a Union Grove
High School district administrator on child pornography charges.
Thomas Johnson is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
The criminal complaint against him says investigators...
found the pornography on his phone after receiving
a tip that Johnson had inappropriate contact
with current or former students.
The complaint also says an unnamed Racine County Sheriff's
Office employee came and spoke to Johnson
in his office about his case before it had been assigned
to an investigator. To reiterate,
we have not confirmed if Madrigal, who was involved in that
child pornography case. We have reached out to both sheriff's offices
and the Kenosha County District Attorney to get
that confirmation to see if she was indeed involved in the case.
While a formal search for more
of Shadi Robinson's remains is expected to happen today.
The family attorney says someone found parts
of a human jaw and some teeth
while walking along the shore near Warnermont Park on October 30th.
The ME confirmed the jawbone belonged to Robinson.
Robinson's family asked anyone walking the Lake Michigan shoreline
between Cudahy and Waukegan, Illinois,
to keep an eye open for more remains.
Maxwell Anderson was sentenced to life in prison for killing
and dismembering Robinson
And after a first date in 2020,
Later today, a candlelight vigil
for the MPS teacher killed in a battery incident.
Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts shared
on social media there will be a vigil
for special ed teacher Harry Bruce this afternoon at 4 o'clock.
It's happening on an open field near 12th and Walnut,
the intersection where the battery took place Thursday night.
A 22-year-old suspect was taken into custody
and criminal charges are being referred to the county DA.
And the Packers are looking to keep things rolling.
They've won four of their last five games,
but a tough test is ahead in New England.
Tim and Bord is there with a preview of today's game.
Ah, the Rhode Island Statehouse,
standing tall in downtown Providence, Rhode Island.
A couple of guys who figure to be standing tall
at Foxborough at Gillette Stadium on Sunday,
Patriot cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis.
When those two guys have been healthy, it definitely looks different.
Those two guys are really good players.
And the thing that, you know, going against New England,
They do a good job of just game planning you up
and making them a challenge for whatever offense they see.
A couple of other towering figures on Sunday figure to be Tom Brady,
the legendary Patriots quarterback
who's never broadcast for Fox at Foxborough
but will on Sunday for the first time,
and Rob Gronkowski, one of his old targets,
who's headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The stage is set.
In Providence, Tim VanVoris, Fox 6 Sports.
And you can catch the Packers and Patriots game right here on Fox 6.
It kicks off at 3:25, but make sure to tune in early
to catch the Cowboys taking on the Colts in Indy.
And after that, stay tuned for the Fox 6 Sports Blitz tonight at 10:30.
And that brings us back to our Fox 6 Instapoll question.
We want to know, what position should the Packers shore up
before the trade deadline?
There are 63% of you say the offensive line,
3% of you say the defensive tackle,
and 34% of you say running back.
Of course, we'll check back in during our shows later
to get through those latest updated results.
And the final result will be shared tonight
in the Fox 6 Sports Blitz.
So tune in. And still to come on Wake Up,
a rare disease that hits trees continues to spread across Wisconsin.
And bobcats seen along the bike paths in Wisconsin,
how nature experts say you should act when you see one.
We're taking a live look outside
the Marquette Interchange. It looks great.
Now, not a lot of cars in the road. You might be sleeping in.
It is still a little cool this morning, but better than yesterday.
While the improvements are here temporarily,
we have more on the cold weather coming up.
You're watching Weather First with meteorologist Lisa Michaels.
Well, good morning.
Yes, we have the sunshine and it is really going to help us out today.
Especially since it's a little cool right now.
Now, temperatures don't look bad.
43 degrees in Milwaukee.
But with the stronger winds and our still relatively dry air,
take a look at what it feels like.
Feeling like 36 degrees.
So our feel-like temperatures are in the mid-30s for most locations
because of our stronger winds, which they don't look too strong,
but they certainly are strengthening even over
the past hour and a half or so.
Winds right now about 10 to 15 miles an hour.
will be even higher today.
Yes, we have a dry cold front moving through. That could pick up our
winds gusting 25 to even 30 miles an hour.
So the sun is going to be well needed, especially since
we have that added wind chill this morning.
We'll talk more about the chill to the air,
which is going to pick up by the end
of the week. That in just a few minutes.
All right. See you soon, Lisa.
And also at the Baird Center, this weekend is Train Fest.
Dozens of model train displays will be showcased all afternoon long,
but that's not all that is in store.
We're live now with volunteer Barbara Soward.
She joins us live now from the Baird Center
to preview some of the family-oriented activities.
Good morning.
Good morning from Train Fest.
Thanks for having us.
No.
As you can see behind me, there's...
There's a whole roomful,
180,000 square feet of things for you to do and see and buy.
Okay, I want to know more about what you're doing
because it looks like you're having
the time of your life.
I'm sitting in Thomas. This is one of the activities for children
and adults and it's free of charge with admission.
It's $15 to get in today, opening at 9 in just about 45 minutes.
Thomas goes around in a circle and bubbles
so children and adults alike can enjoy the ride.
What all have you guys done? Because there are so many adults in there,
obviously, getting ready for the setup.
But then you guys are preparing to welcome so many families,
hundreds of families, lots of children.
What else can they expect?
There are 50 layouts, operating layouts,
for children and adults to look at with trains running.
And you can see the scenery
and all the things that people have worked so hard to complete.
Thank you.
There are some activities for children,
there are hands-on things that they can actually make a
little, a small diorama. There's a Lego set,
Lego trains here, just any number of things that are
family friendly. And the hobby is good for all ages,
from the little tiny ones with Thomas,
and then the older ones, and even adults in retirement.
That's kind of where I am with the
in the retirement phase to enjoy the hobby.
I love that. Okay, so you have more time to do what you love.
Also, no, there's a special interest group
that's dedicated just for women.
There is. The National Model Railroad Association has established
a special interest group
to encourage women to join the hobby.
It's not just for men and boys. It's women and girls of all ages.
And we try to do things to promote and encourage women to join in.
There are men also, our members,
because they want to support us in that effort.
Okay, I want to know before you get out of here.
I need to see this train move. Are you the conductor?
Are you controlling this? Unfortunately,
it is the show is opening in 45 minutes and I cannot run the train.
I can give you some bubbles. I love that. Okay, lots of energy.
Thank you so much for joining us this morning.
If there's something that the people have to check out,
what would you recommend?
I would recommend, just come in here.
You walk in here and you're just amazed at all the,
you just don't know where to go first.
But if you have children, I would encourage you
to go to the back for Thomas and some
of the other, the Lego layouts
and things that they can really appreciate.
There are also, there's a garden layout
that's on the ground on their level.
They can see that very easily.
And if you want to join the hobby, just look,
all these vendors are here and they have tons
of merchandise.
for sale to get you involved either from the beginning
or if you're a hobbyist you can
add to your collection it's just it's endless what you can
do in here absolutely endless
opportunities and happy retirement to you thank you
so much for joining us we're going to check
back in with you guys for a final look
at the event at 8:45 we'll see you then have fun
Thank you so much.
I love all the good energy.
Adults can ride that train, Bria.
You and me could be having a fun time.
Lots of bubbles.
I know.
And no coats needed, of course, if you're inside there.
That's the best part.
You're going to need them outside.
The thing is, like, what do you do with them?
This is the worst part of the year.
I know, it is.
Is you need the thick coats and you travel somewhere.
They don't want to tie them around your waist.
Exactly.
We've gotta carry them in our arms, it's too much
Hey, it's a problem we all have, but let's talk about it
because you will need the added layers today.
We are seeing flag blowing high there at the top of
the city center building and winds are already picking up.
So plan on a more breezy, sunny and
mild Sunday ahead. We are going to get the best
of a couple worlds here. One is the fact that we
primarily have clear skies right now.
In fact, majority of the state, we don't really have much
Much going on because we have a dry cold front.
Moving through currently, not enough moisture for this front
to lift the air and bring us a lot of cloud cover or precipitation,
but what it is going to do is increase the winds.
That is something we're continuing to track this morning
and the afternoon, but we have several more low pressure systems off
near the Pacific Northwest, and that will also be trailing our way,
which will be changing our weather steadily as we head through
the week. Let's look at Sky Vision Plus focusing on today first.
Again, the numbers here representing
the sustained winds near the surface.
So as we move through your Sunday,
we'll have plenty of sunshine, but our numbers go up.
Our sustained winds could be up to 20 miles an hour,
wind gusts up to 30 miles an hour.
So windy and sunny, but we are still looking mild-wise
in the temperature department, which will break down momentarily.
Heading into tonight, the numbers go down,
so our winds will gradually weaken, clear skies,
both allowing our temperatures to drop.
Now, if our winds stay a little bit lower,
Little stronger overnight that would prevent frost from forming,
but if there are spots where our winds are weaker,
we still could have some patchy frost heading into the start
of your Monday, so we'll be tracking that closely.
Temperatures right now are in the low and getting close
to the mid 40s in a couple spots like Sheboygan and West Bend.
Temperatures feel like the mid 30s, so we're still feeling seven
to maybe 10 degrees cooler because of the current winds right now,
so you will need the jacket this morning,
but I don't think you're going to need them by
by the afternoon. Even though it's going to be breezy today,
our temperatures will be getting well above average by about 10 degrees
in the upper 50s and maybe a few low 60s closer to the lakefront.
Warm temperatures today will carry with more mild
and warmer temperatures as we move into Tuesday and Wednesday.
But here is the shift of our weather.
It all has to do with the jet stream
and we're going to watch a dip in the jet stream happen.
By the end of the week. What does that mean for us?
Well, we are going to start to see some cooler temperatures
and even cold in some spots moving into the Great Lakes region
and the Pacific Northwest. That's going to have the deepest
and biggest effects late Thursday into Friday and Saturday.
So we are preparing for it mild right now.
Lots of sunshine and staying dry,
but Wednesday on Veterans Day is the turning point.
We dip back into the low 50s, then the low 40s.
As we move into the rest of the week,
there's even a chance for maybe some flurries in the forecast
that we're watching closely.
You're watching Fox 6 News with Bria Jones.
A tree disease that's been spreading across Wisconsin
is only causing more problems.
Oak wilt has now been identified in 67 of Wisconsin's 72 counties.
Manitowoc County is the newest on the list.
Fox's Bailey Peterson explains what this means.
A deadly disease affecting oak trees has made
its way into Manitowoc County.
The Wisconsin DNR confirming its first case
of oak wilt in the town of Mishicot.
The infected tree was identified after
the property owner noticed unusual symptoms and contacted the DNR.
While it's not clear how long oak wilt has been in the area,
officials say there are a couple of possibilities.
When people take wood from infected trees and
And move that wood long distances,
the fungus may still be able to spread through the beetles.
The nearest known cases are about 20 miles away in Brown County.
Jason Petrella, program
and natural resource manager for the Brown County Parks Department,
says it's something they've been monitoring closely.
For us, we're always watching for any kind
of potential issues with any trees, really,
but especially with oaks and oak.
We'll just see if we notice anything that,
for our staff who are out here all the time,
they kind of get familiar with the trees, and they'll notice real quick
if something's going on with a tree out here.
While this can become a large and expensive problem,
McNeese says there is no need to panic.
The disease is so uncommon that we only have one known tree
in the entire county that has the
disease. There probably are more at very low levels throughout
the forest and in the communities. Oaks
as a whole are only about two percent
of Manitowoc County's rural forest and about one percent of the
urban trees in the communities. Saying prevention is key.
The best way you can prevent it is not
move firewood long distances unless it's seasoned
and the bark has come loose.
The fungus that causes the oak wilt disease cannot live
in wood once it's in wood that is that dry.
And if you have oak trees on your property,
there are steps you can take.
They have the guidelines on when
to prune oak trees and do any kind of work.
We definitely avoid those dates
in there between April and July typically.
Bailey Peterson, Fox 11 News.
With stories that matter to you,
this is Fox 6 Wake Up News.
Well, thanks for waking up with us on this sunny Sunday morning.
Now, temperatures are warmer.
But we are still feeling a chill to the air.
Let's take a look at some of those numbers right now.
45 in Sheboygan feels like 40,
so we're officially out of the wind chills in the 30s there.
But while we are 43 in Milwaukee, Racine,
we still are hanging on to wind chills in the mid-30s.
More of the same for some of our areas inland
from Juneau to West Bend and Waukesha.
Low to mid-40s for high temperatures
or temperatures right now, surface temperatures.
Mid to upper 30s for wind chills inland.
So the wind chills means that you'll need to have a coat this morning.
Even though it's sunny, the winds have been picking up,
and that is what is making it feel a little cooler currently.
It also is one of the factors that prevented us from seeing fog
and frost this morning, but the winds are going to increase today.
We'll talk more about those impacts coming up.
We are going to focus on the low temperatures
because temperatures at least will be warming,
so our lows will not be as frigid
as we head through a majority of this week.
But notice by the end of the week into next weekend,
we look to bring in another.
Another surge of very chilly air.
We're going to break down more
on what that means for us here locally
because it could mean some snowflakes coming up.
Alright, thanks Lisa. Four people are dead and another is hurt after
a shooting inside a West Bend home near Edgewood and Wisconsin.
This happened just before noon yesterday. This is a look at the scene.
The West Bend Police Department tells us a man,
a woman and two children have died.
Police say this remains an active investigation.
If you know anything about the incident,
please give West Bend Police a call.
Three people are safe after being rescued
from the Mississippi River near Brownsville, Minnesota.
The boat operator says their boat capsized
when a wave of water came on board as they tried to slow the boat down.
The local sheriff's office says the three men
on board got their personal flotation devices on
and drifted until crews found them and brought them to safety.
They say all three men and the boat are okay.
And closer to home, it was an afternoon of honor
and recognition for those who served our country.
The annual Veterans Day Parade
in downtown Wauwatosa celebrated military families
and active duty National Guard and Reserve service members.
Organizers say the parade also aims to raise awareness.
About the challenges veterans face,
including mental health, PTSD, and finding employment.
They say they want the patriotic celebration
to inspire the next generation
to follow in the footsteps of those making the ultimate sacrifice.
Go out and serve your country. Do what you can to help people.
It doesn't necessarily have to be in the armed forces.
I mean, it can be in police forces. It could be as teachers.
But just go out there and serve your community.
Special guests at yesterday's parade ranged
from local law enforcement to the fan-favorite
dancing grannies,
and some new balloons on display for Macy's 100th annual
Thanksgiving Day Parade. How are they going to top themselves?
Okay, let's get into it. You see them there.
Macy's Balloon Fest was held in New Jersey,
marking the debut and test flights of seven new balloons.
Snoopy's alter ego led the crew along with his pal Woodstock,
Bluey and Buckaroo Bob. Okay, that's new to me. The Minion
are also joining the pack this year as well as Hello Kitty Big Apple.
The parade begins at 830 on the morning of Thanksgiving.
Also new this morning,
15 exotic pets were safely surrendered in Milwaukee.
Yesterday, J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue hosted
the Exotic Pet Surrender event at the Kosciuszko Community Center.
The animals recovered included birds, lizards.
And turtles, organizers say this event is important for pet owners
who can no longer provide care for these pets.
Other shelters may not have the resources
to care for animals like these.
And releasing them into the wild could be dangerous for the animal
or the environment.
And in Madison, folks are seeing other wild animals along bike paths,
and some of them have residents concerned for their safety.
Ashley Will spoke to a UW wildlife expert about bobcats on the trail.
Obviously, there's some good stuff to eat around here,
and that's what bobcats look for.
They've got huge territory. I doubt we're going to see it again.
Many people walk and bike through the trails in Middleton,
but it's less typical to see a wild bobcat during the day.
This is my first hearing about the bobcat,
but, I mean, we are nature's back door.
Anna and John Lone Tree live near Greenway Boulevard,
where a bobcat was reported to Middleton police near
the parking garage and trail.
The Lone Tree says they've seen other animals in the area,
but were shocked to hear of a bobcat.
I haven't heard of bobcats. I mean,
I've heard of black bears and coyotes.
But yeah, I mean, again, it's part of nature.
I mean, you'll see plenty of people's dogs and you'll see like geese
and birds, you know, all kinds of birds and squirrels and stuff.
But no, I've never seen anything like that, no.
The Wisconsin DNR says bobcats are not unusual
because they prey on small mammals found in urban spaces.
They say this bobcat seems to be behaving normally
and does not pose a threat.
We don't have bobcats in the city all that often.
They do move through here and we've had them moving through here.
Probably more frequently in the last few years,
but they don't seem to stay here,
and there doesn't seem to be a sustained population
or breeding population of bobcats in the city.
David Drake is a wildlife specialist with UW-Madison.
He says after multiple wildlife sightings this week,
from the bobcat to a coyote that bit a person in Madison.
I think in this particular instance, it's just an unfortunate timing.
People should observe them from a distance.
I think it's pretty cool that we've got bobcats coming into here.
Good indication that, you know,
that we are able to coexist with these animals and wildlife in general.
And I think having wildlife around us is really good for us.
And try to scare them away if they get too close.
Face the bobcat, you know, make yourself look big,
try to scare the animal out of the area.
And generally bobcats are pretty secretive to begin with and probably
it's not going to take too much to scare them out of the area.
Probably similar with coyotes as well.
You're watching Weather First with meteorologist Lisa Michaels.
Well, good Sunday morning and thanks for waking up with us
on what looks to be a great start to the day today.
Full blue skies, lots of sun,
but we are dealing with some stronger winds right now,
and that's going to keep things a touch cooler.
Our feel-like temperature is still sitting
in the mid-30s to low-40s for most areas,
but because the sun is out, our temperatures are warming.
That wind chill impact will go away later on today.
Mild days ahead, plenty of sunshine Sunday through Tuesday
when we have warmer than average
temperatures and dry conditions likely,
But there is a big drop in our temperatures planned for the.
For the end of the week, highs in the low 40s,
that brings us below average by 10 degrees,
and we're talking about lows that could
be in the upper 20s by the end of the week.
With that and the change of the winds,
we could be talking about our first snowflakes of the season.
I'll talk more about what you need to know,
not looking to be a big impact,
but something we certainly could see, especially closer to the lake.
That and my full forecast coming up in just a few.
All right, we'll see you in a few minutes.
Just a day after a team name and coach were announced,
the owners of Milwaukee Pro Football announced
they will not seek a Continental Football League team.
In a statement released yesterday,
a Milwaukee Pro Football spokesperson said,
quote,
Milwaukee Pro Football has no current affiliation with the COFL
and will not participate in the league's 2027 season.
This notice supersedes earlier Milwaukee Pro Football announcements
and promotional statements about 2027 COFL participation.
Well, the team is not going anywhere.
The Packers, they are back in action this week.
They have a tough test on the road against the Patriots,
but the offense is looking to rely
on a not-so-secret weapon to get the job done.
Tim McBurnis is in New England.
Did you ever see that documentary about that group of people
who secretly lived in a mall for a few years?
This is that mall, Providence Place.
No secret for the Packers offense.
They'll try to get going not too far
from here at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.
Jordan Love leading the league in passing yards.
Matthew Golden, one of his targets.
He's taking advantage of every rep.
I think he's getting more consistent
with his route running, the feel for the plays.
Where he needs to show up on time,
you can continue to clean up the catches, but I think
he still makes some crazy catches and some great plays,
but I think just consistency
will continue to keep improving on him.
Green Bay's other main receiving target,
Christian Watson, will be in the lineup on Sunday, even
though he does have a broken rib, which he describes as bothersome.
Obviously, he hopes the Patriots don't maul him.
In Providence, Tim Van Voren, Fox 6 Sports.
All right, Fox 6 Sports.
At least I still got to work on that one day.
I told Tim all the time, I'm trying to be just like you.
Well, a reminder, you can catch the Packers and Patriots game
right here on Fox 6.
Kickoff is at 3:25, but make sure to tune in early
to catch the Cowboys taking on the Colts in Indy.
And after, stay tuned for the Fox 6 Sports Blitz.
That's tonight at 1030.
Don't change the channel.
Just stay with us all day.
The Badgers were back in front of their home crowd.
Freshman quarterback Ryan Hopkins got his career start,
but he shined under the bright lights.
He had 241 yards and three touchdowns.
And the Badgers, they would go on to be Rutgers 31.
31 to...
To 10, they are now bowl eligible.
And we're still thinking about the Milwaukee Brewers making history
and winning their first World Series title in franchise history.
And if you'd like to go back and hear from inside the clubhouse
and on the field following their historic championship victory,
well, the sports team, they have you covered
in this week's Beyond the Game.
What does that feel like, World Champs?
It's crazy. You know, it's insane.
Just even those words
and being with my name involved with that, it's insane.
The Milwaukee Brewers are the champions of the world.
Of the world, that's right.
Brandon, how's that sit on you?
Pretty cool.
There's nothing like it.
It's special.
It really is.
You know, I'm so proud of myself.
And I'm so proud of having my family
with me in this moment, my wife, my kids.
I know 100% my mom and my dad on the skies looking in here.
What ownership does, what front office does,
and just this family aspect.
And it's unbelievable to see it all come together right here.
It means everything.
I mean, just to be a part of this thing and to bring this home,
I know how much this means.
I get a lot of messages and I'm so thankful for it
and I can't wait to celebrate with
everyone in Wisconsin.
I really am.
It's awesome.
Before that, I mean, when I was in the minor leagues,
he was texting me, hey, hey, hey.
That kind of burns.
What did you pour?
When did it sink in that you guys were world champions?
I don't know if it's still – I still don't know if it has yet.
I just know I'm super happy.
I'm super thankful to God be the glory.
I can't even describe how happy I am.
Happy for everybody in here.
It's such a group effort.
It's the players, it's the staff, it's the families, it's everybody.
They have to put everything into it.
So just to see it all pay off really means a lot.
I can't believe it's a world championship, but of course it is.
I was thinking about a World Series ring.
Now I'm thinking about being the best team in the world,
in the world, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Love that.
The Milwaukee Brewers just won the World Series!
I'm Lauren Bowers, Jake Bowers' wife.
And we just won the World Series.
We just won the World Series!
What are you going to remember
from this year besides maybe this moment?
Uh...
Good.
I'm going to remember how,
I guess how much my eyes burned.
And I had a general manager say, why are you going to Milwaukee?
I said, they have the best fan base, it's a challenge,
and you know, I love the opportunity
of those challenges.
These fans were challenged, all these,
for 44 years, and now it's come to fruition.
Generations of Brewer fans who had never had
the opportunity to see this, right?
So it means the world to all of them, and I think there
are so many families that have passed the love they have
for the Milwaukee Brewers down from one generation to the next.
And I think, you know, this sport brings
people together. It unites people.
You came out and joined me after Game 2 in Milwaukee.
And you said it was pretty sick.
And I can't tell you how many people have said that to me.
It's pretty sick.
This is a little more sick, man.
This is a little more sick.
This is a little more sick.
I'm out of, like, emotions.
I've screamed so much.
Thank you very much.
My heart has reached an all-time high this postseason.
And now I need to kind of relax, calm it down a little bit.
But how sick is that, man?
Take us back to the good days, just a week ago.
Such a good time.
All right.
I know, we're still living there.
Milwaukee, we're not letting go of this moment.
Milwaukee is the center of the universe, and we're holding on to that.
Okay, time now, 8:47.
All morning long, we've been taking you out
to the Barrett Center for the final day of Train Fest.
You'll be able to check out dozens of model train displays
and take part in all sorts of fun activities.
Joining us live once again, we have Derek McDonough.
One more time here before the doors open and just if you
And as you were saying,
Milwaukee is a big part of the Train Fest culture.
Yeah, absolutely. Train Fest and Milwaukee just go together.
And it's such a big draw here because of the community in Milwaukee
that started it, but also the community of folks from around the world
who come to Milwaukee to join in the fun.
I've seen in the last couple days friends from Florida,
from Idaho, from Washington. We all get together at Train Fest.
And what's great is the hobby of model railroading,
we're all really passionate about it. And that passion leads to
to lifelong friendships that transcend the hobby.
So it really is a great opportunity to meet people
and to build lifelong friendships.
Okay, I am curious, how did you get involved in this?
Yeah that's a great question.
So I was super passionate about the hobby of model railroading
and I think anytime you care about something you realize
that you want to leave it in a better
place than you found it and so I became a volunteer
with the National Model Railroad Association
who manages the show
and you know it's one of those things where the more you get involved
with it the more you want to contribute
and pitch in and when you see the enthusiasm you
know the doors open in just
a few minutes we already have a crowd of people lined up
Almost the entire length of the convention center to get in,
you want to keep contributing
to that and keep feeding that energy.
Yeah, and no matter your age, there's something for everyone.
What do you think about the model trains?
What do you think brings people together
and can entertain the masses from children to
elderly adults?
Yeah, absolutely. The hobby of model railroading and just trains
in general is something for every age and every level of interest.
So, a lot of us get hooked with Thomas when we're kids,
we ride trains when we're kids,
and then in middle ages we want to share that with our friends
and with our family and with our own children.
And then when we're a little older and we have more time, more space,
more money, and we're retired, there's tons of free time for us.
To build and to be creative. It's a creative outlet.
And then to share our passion with other people.
The nice thing about model railroading is it's a hobby where
a lot of us can get together,
bring our stuff to our friends' houses and operate.
Or join a club and operate with dozens
or hundreds of other people on a regular basis in a shared space.
And in a time when so much of the world feels like it's
so separated, so disconnected,
we're so in our own bubbles, we can come together in a third space
And really enjoy something together with that common interest
of model railroading, no matter your age.
There's something for everybody.
Something for everybody. I can feel your passion
through the screen, especially when you said,
when you love something, you want to leave it better than you found it.
Thank you so much for joining us live this morning.
Train Fest happening now at the Bayard Center.
Doors opening in just a few moments.
Line is already out the door, folks.
So if you're watching, maybe pack your layers and head there.
Thank you so much. We appreciate it. Have fun.
Someone's got to have a conductor hat there right?
Of course. Walking around, having a good time.
And I'll put one right on. I'm always shocked
when they have these big displays because how
do they transport them? That's honestly what I was thinking.
And I don't think it's by train.
So they're like I gotta. Or maybe the Amtrak's right there.
Maybe, maybe. Who knows? I'm thinking
about the detail. How long would it take
to put all this stuff together? Who knows?
I mean that honestly it's a work of art and it's
so captivating because the tiniest detail
is what you look at and then you see the next thing
and the next thing the next thing but
I will say if you're heading out
to that event today you will need some sort of layer this
morning. There's a tiny detail in your forecast.
There may be some snowflakes there. Well there
might be some snowflakes that's going to be the end
of my forecast is that will be coming in
potentially by the end of the week we'll break down more
on that just a moment but no snowflakes today
We have blue skies, lots of sunshine, but it is going to be.
It's going to be a little bit warmer outside.
Now, even though we have lots of sun right now,
we are not very frosty because we have had warmer temperatures
and a little bit more cloud cover overnight and stronger winds.
That's prevented any kind of frost
or fog from developing and not much of an issue statewide
because we are watching a dry cold front moving through.
This front does not have enough moisture for it to play around
with to give us thick clouds or any kind of precipitation,
but it is going to be a little bit warmer outside.
We're going to bring us a windy Sunday ahead.
Big picture here is this is only one of multiple systems off
to our north and northwest that will be impacting us through the week.
So most of the impacts we'll be dealing with will
not be in the precipitation department,
but it will be in the temperature department. So keep that in mind.
We're going to break down more on the temps in just a moment here.
Sky Vision Plus will show you more.
Numbers. Yes, the numbers here are representing our sustained winds,
so it is going to be quite breezy today.
Sustained winds up to 20 miles an hour,
wind gusts up to 30 miles an hour.
So breezy, but sunny and staying dry.
As we move into tonight, winds will weaken with mostly clear skies,
but our winds should stay just strong enough that I think it
could prevent more frost as we head into tomorrow morning.
Temperatures will still be dropping into the mid 30s, so patchy
We have temperatures now that are continuing to warm even
though our winds are stronger. We have the sun with us. We're
in the mid to some areas getting close to the upper 40s by Watertown.
Temperatures will continue to climb today above average.
In the upper 50s, can't rule out an isolated low 60 degrees here or there,
but typically we should have temperatures at about 51 degrees.
So it's going to be nice for today
and some of the upcoming days to still have mild air around with us.
Now this mild air is not going to be with us all week.
We've been hinting at the cold coming in and that has
to do with a shift in the jet stream.
So what we're going to watch is a trough,
really a dip in the jet stream as it weakens,
allowing cooler air to surge down from the north.
That is what we'll start to experience,
especially Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Now, it's not necessarily going to be a winter cold where
we're talking about temperatures in the teens and 20s,
but it could be cold enough
that we could have some snowflakes by the end of the week.
Right now, Thursday, Friday, low temperatures will be in the 30s,
maybe some upper 20s, highs in the 40s.
And with that colder air, we can't rule out
the chance of maybe some snowflakes in the forecast.
So we'll be watching that. Not a big system.
But they would be the first of the season.
Quick look at your forecast.
Sunny and dry the next few days, but windy today
and still mild before cooler air moves in by the end of the week.
Well, people are being put to the test outside
of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
All right, let's get into it.
It's the Rocky Steps Challenge.
Participants try to take on all 72 steps outside
the museum in just under 12 minutes.
Those who can secure a time under 11.7 seconds.
Have the honor of beating Rocky's movie benchmark.
Okay, this is the award-winning film.
It's celebrating 50 years later this month.
I can't even believe that.
But also, the 72 steps.
I could do that.
An 11th.
I got long legs.
I skip my steps sometimes.
So I'm going to take that challenge when I get there.
All right, we're going to record it and maybe put it on social media.
We're going to find some steps around Fox 6.
You can get your steps in, go back inside,
and stay with Fox 6 for football all day.
