The Russian occupiers attempted to advance along several front lines at once, but the Defense Forces thwarted the enemy's plans, according to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War.

Specifically, it is reported that on November 3 and 4, the enemy attempted an offensive in the northern Sumy region, but was thwarted by a counterattack by the Defense Forces northeast of Sumy. Furthermore, the enemy attempted an attack near Borova in the Kharkiv region, but here, too, Ukrainian defenders counterattacked, preventing the enemy from advancing.

Experts note that Russia's main efforts remain focused on capturing the Ukrainian fortification belt in Donbas. Specifically, the enemy attempted to attack Defense Force positions east of Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, but was unsuccessful. This was due to a counterattack by Ukrainian forces along the southern bank of the Seversky Donets River and southeast of Slovyansk. At the same time, experts report that Russia has likely achieved success in the Kostiantynivka area. According to experts, this refers to the northwestern district of the city, where the Defense Forces carried out at least eight strikes. Moreover, this is the only district in the Donetsk region where Russia may have achieved any significant gains. This is because the occupiers were unable to advance in the Dobropillia sector due to counterattacks by Ukrainian defenders.

Experts also note counterattacks by the Defense Forces in the Zaporizhzhia region, where Russia attempted to advance south of Orekhovo. According to analysts, the occupiers' goal in this area is to advance close enough to the city of Zaporizhzhia to be able to attack the regional capital with artillery.

Analysts previously noted that Russia managed to capture only 7 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in October , marking the enemy's worst performance since the fall of 2023. Experts note that in previous years, Russia, on the contrary, accelerated its offensive in the fall. For example, in 2025, the enemy captured 492 and 586 square kilometers in September and October, respectively. And in 2024, the figure was 398 and 559 square kilometers.

Meanwhile, analysts from the Institute for the Study of War note that the Defense Forces are achieving their own successes on the battlefield. According to experts, Ukrainian defenders have advanced in the Sumy and Donetsk regions .
