Randy and Diane of Suffolk Travels review the Barefoot RV Resort in North Myrtle Beach, praising its cleanliness, peaceful atmosphere, and convenient location. The resort is ideal for short-term visitors, seasonal \"snowbirds,\" and long-term residents, offering a variety of RV sites and park model rentals near shopping and the ocean.
Hi everybody, welcome to Suffolk Travels. I'm Randy. And I'm Diane.
In this video we're going
to show you Barefoot RV Resort in North Myrtle Beach.
This is our first stay here
and so far it's turned to be a very nice place to stay.
Yeah, it is right off of King's Highway in North Myrtle Beach,
I guess to the south end of the downtown area,
but very close to like Barefoot Landing
and the outlets and a lot of that stuff.
We're not on the ocean in this park.
The ocean is about two blocks, maybe.
Yeah, two blocks away.
So you can easily walk to the ocean if you want,
or there's parking down there and you can drive down and park.
So we're going to take you around the park.
Yeah, so come on along with us. Let's go.
Let's go.
The campground does have a gate and there
is a guard shack in the evenings if someone's
here to check you in and make sure you belong.
They do give you a code for the
gate so you can drive through it during
the day if you need to open it up.
When you come in to check in,
they pre-check you in online and so you can go directly to your
campsite. They give you your campsite
and they tell you to come through. They give you the gate code,
drive right in, go right to your campsite right on site.
There is a park store and office right on
site. All the sites are cement like this.
They have a picnic table, water, electric sewer, fire pit,
Trash and recyclables are picked up every day
at the curb at between 10 and 11,
so they're very nicely taking care of all that stuff for you.
They do have on-site laundry facilities.
It looks like they have four washers
and four dryers, some nice folding tables.
The room is very clean and well kept.
So yeah it's a nice amenity to have.
And the prices don't seem bad $1.75 for a wash
and $1.50 to dry so that's not bad.
Yeah that's a good price. There's also next to the laundry
area there's a bathhouse here and by the two pools there's
also bathhouse facilities too.
One thing we should
also point out is all
the pads are cement
and they're all good size.
They're full, of course, all full hookups.
Full hookups.
They do offer mostly, I think, seasonal campers,
and there are some transient sites.
I guess you can stay different lengths.
They also have, and we'll point those out when we walk over there,
they do have nice, like, park model or mini home rentals.
So that is also a possibility.
And like Randy said, we're not far from the ocean.
And another thing you can do here is you can, you know,
if you have a golf cart or rent a golf cart, you can...
of course have those at your site
and you can pretty much drive them anywhere in the vicinity
you can cross the main highway the only thing
is you cannot drive your in your golf cart along the
main highway right but you can get
to most places through back roads or back streets
so you can get to all the restaurants
and all the facilities on a golf cart
And golf carts are rentable while you're staying here.
Like Diane said there
is basically three different types of ways you can stay
here. There are some people here that are on a yearly lease
and a lot of these sites in here fall into that.
Then there are people on a six-month lease
and then there are transient sites
that you can rent for a shorter period of time.
So in the winter time a lot of the park fills up with the
The yearly lease and the snowbirds, which are on a six-month lease,
but they always keep a certain site open for transit people,
and we'll show you that area.
One of them was the pull-throughs in the front,
but there's also another area that we'll show you.
And then during the summer, the people who are on a six-month
lease leave, and then those sites are available to rent.
We ended up on one of those sites because the people
who rent that site for the season hasn't shown up yet.
In addition to the pool they also have a lazy river.
It's not a big lazy river but if you
know me you know that I love a lazy river.
So any size unfortunately this one is appears to
be closed for the season.
This section of the park is more for the transient.
So these sites are available year round
and they're for people who want to come for
less than the season so less than six
months you could come here and stay.
A month, a week, a couple of days, whatever you want,
and this is typically where you would be.
We just happened not to get one of these sites,
and we were really lucky in that we got a great site.
Yes, and again, they are full hookups.
Yep, they're all full hookups,
and the rental on these sites includes electric,
where if you were seasonal or yearly or annual,
seasonal, you would pay your electric.
Now, we understand the rate for seasonal is $4,700
or approximately there.
So that's really reasonable.
Extremely reasonable price, yes.
Of course, we probably shouldn't be telling you how reasonable this is
because then it's going to fill up with a whole bunch of people
and we're never able to get back in here again.
There is a nice grass area right behind where all the trailers are
and a nice place you can just walk or take your dogs for a walk.
There is a small airplane
or a private airport right behind the campground.
And this is strictly for your smaller,
you know, a person owns a private plane.
Yeah, or corporate jets or something.
Right.
It's not really busy and it's really not that noticeable.
You hear them.
It's starting up and take off, but it's not constant like
a regular airport, so it's really not disruptive.
And you do see some very unique airplanes as well.
Yeah.
One of the drawbacks about being in this part
of the campground is it tends to be pretty windy.
So you have to be very careful with your awnings on your rig.
Yeah, because it's so open through here that the wind picks up,
and it could blow your awning.
You know be careful about that.
Right but the wind also makes it very nice
when it's extremely warm out that it you know cuts down
on some of the humidity some of the heat
so it is a nice if you enjoy a little bit of a breeze.
Right. There is another area in the park
which has a small playground for your kids
and that looks pretty nice. It's not yeah
it's not big at all and then right next to it is a dog park.
We haven't, no, we haven't been over here, have we, with the dogs?
Lincoln has made friends with our neighbors' two dogs,
so they've been pretty much occupying
all his time, and he's doing very well with them.
Yeah, our neighbors have a fenced-in,
our neighbors are seasonal, they have a fenced-in
yard, and they've invited Lincoln
and Zephyr to come over and play with their dogs, Ollie
and Roxanne.
Ozzie.
Ozzie and Roxanne.
Ozzie and Roxanne.
Yes.
And, uh...
Lincoln's been doing very well with us.
He's enjoying himself. He's having a better vacation
than we are, I think. I know, yeah.
And let's face it, this is all about the dogs.
Oh, it's nice.
I mean, it's not cold, but it's not heated. It's comfortable? Yeah.
This is one of the two pools.
This one happens to be open. For whatever reason,
they closed the kids in Lazy River, but this is just a regular pool.
It's nice. It's only,
what, four and a half feet deep, so it's not very deep,
but nice to come in and cool off.
A lot of nice lounge chairs around here.
Umbrellas. Umbrellas. They have a Rochelle area.
It's a beautiful area.
Yeah.
Yeah, and a, you know, a nice bathhouse right there.
Yeah, so they've got restrooms
and places to change if you need to change here or change
your trailer or wherever.
Yeah.
But this is really nice.
The nice palm trees around it.
Yeah.
And it's not heated, but it's very comfortable.
Yeah.
Probably, you know, heats up from the sun.
Right, right, exactly.
So what do you think of Barefoot RV Park?
It's very nice.
Yeah, it is.
It is very nice.
Normally we would stay at a campground along the ocean.
This is the first time.
In many, many years, we've stayed in North Myrtle Beach.
We've never stayed in North Myrtle Beach.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, this is the first time for us in North Myrtle Beach,
first time for being here in a site that's not on the ocean.
Well, pretty much because we've always stayed at the same place.
Right.
I mean, we've done the state park, and then we've done Pirate Land,
and that's been an extent,
but we decided we wanted to try some different places,
and we hadn't done North Myrtle Beach before,
so we thought we would give this one a try.
It looked nice.
We knew the area was good for a lot of shopping and restaurants.
I mean, we went over and spent a morning at Barefoot Landing
and walked around there.
We can show you a little bit of video of that.
Barefoot
Landing
is
just
a
short
drive
from
the
campground.
And we probably were here many, many years ago,
and this is located in North Myrtle Beach.
Yeah, it's very nice. There's a lot of little restaurants.
There's Alabama. House of Blues is nearby here,
so there's some nighttime entertainment.
A lot of little shops that you can walk around.
Unique shops.
Yeah, unique shops, yeah. Not the normal stuff, though.
There is a Ron Jon, so that's a little bit normal for a beach area.
Yeah, that's kind of a chain beach area type of restaurant.
Right, but it's not like an outlet or anything.
The places here are not that type of shops.
No, they have little unique shops.
Christmas Mouse is here, there's really a neat store,
I can't remember the name of it,
but everything in it is purple.
It was Purple Passion, was it? Something like that. Yeah,
it was all purple, so we should have taken some pictures of it,
but definitely if you're here,
you got to go check that out, and if you
have checked it out, leave us a comment and
let us know. You go in and you're like, wow.
Yeah. I mean, everything is unique, and
you know, everything is that.
I'm going to say obviously it's a ladies' store.
Well, it's a, it's a, yeah, ladies gift store.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
But they had purple clothes.
Yeah, jewelry.
They had some kids stuff that was all purple.
You know, knick-knacky type stuff.
Yeah.
But it was very unique and very different.
Yeah, that is true.
And, you know, sweet shops, ice cream shops.
What else do they got?
I think there's some entertainment. I saw a merry-go-round, a train.
Yeah, and there's some play areas and such.
Yeah, so it's nice being off-season,
and on a weekday, it's basically empty.
So no crowds to struggle through.
So it's just a nice walk, and today's weather is beautiful.
It's not too warm. It's sunny, a little bit breezy.
And just very nice.
Yep, absolutely.
Yeah, so it's a good location.
I would say if you're looking for someplace to stay.
Perhaps six months of the year, if you don't like going to Florida,
then this would be a great choice.
Yeah, I mean, for longer-term stays, this would be great.
For short-term stays, if you're not locked into wanting
to be on the beach, but you still have access to the beach,
if you're just not going to go there every day
and lay out, this would be fine.
Mm-hmm.
They do have...
You know, the sites are all very nice size.
They do have the fire pits. They all have the cement pads,
full hookups, including cable. We didn't even tap into that.
They have very good wi-fi. We've
tapped into the wi-fi. It's very strong.
We've been able to stream with it, so that's very good.
Um, and then they have behind us,
and we'll walk over and show you those too, um, the
little cottages that you can rent.
Well, actually, they don't look too little.
They're like, uh, like you'd consider a park model or,
uh, you know, a tiny home.
Yeah.
They're not, I don't know if they call them that.
Yeah, they're big enough for a family.
Yeah, yeah.
Exactly.
Ah, okay.
Oh, this one.
Yeah, the wall.
It's here.
Oh, okay.
Oh, this is, yeah, this is nice.
Oh, nice little fan through.
stairs. Okay.
The loft has a bed up here for sleeping,
a little TV. Is it like a bedroom up there?
Yeah. Okay. Yeah, just can't stand up.
Oh, can't, you don't get up too quickly, huh?
Well, I think you're okay for that. Uh-huh.
But it's nice. You're on your knees
the rest of the time up there.
Okay, it's got a, yeah, the floor.
Very nice. Yes.
But this is really a very nice, very clean, and it's really quiet.
I think, to me, that's probably the biggest thing between staying here
and staying on, you know, Pirate Lands or Carolina Shores or those.
This is much quieter.
Yes.
You don't have...
You know, people buzzing by with the golf carts
with the radios running and such.
I mean, people here, it's more like, you know,
people here are more longer-term stays.
Right.
And you probably have to think there are probably retirees, 55-plus,
although, you know, it's not a designated 55-plus RV park,
but it appears that most of the people
that we've seen would be in that category.
Right.
Well, what did you think of the park?
I like it. I definitely would come back here again,
kind of looking at it thinking,
geez, too bad we didn't, you know, plan for a longer stay.
Right. We've enjoyed it so much.
And I know Lincoln has really enjoyed it.
He has. He's made new friends and hangs out with
them all day when he can. Right. So, yeah, pretty nice.
But yeah, I enjoy the park.
I think the little cottages are really nice.
Well, they're not so little.
I mean, when I think of a little cottage, you think of a cottage
at KOA or something like that. Yeah.
So these are like tiny homes or park models. Right.
Yeah, they're actually park models.
Right. And we did go in a couple of them
and they were very nice. One was they both had two bedrooms.
Right, so one is all on one level, and it has a bedroom with bunk beds
and such, and then a master bedroom, and a smaller living area.
The other one has a loft area,
so the living area gets to be a little bit bigger.
I think the other bedroom is a little bit bigger,
and the bath is probably even a little bit bigger.
So it takes, you give up having...
The second full size bedroom
and you get a loft where you're going to have only a short
ceiling height.
Well, it would be suitable.
But for kids.
Yeah, for kids or you just have to remember
that you know you can't stand up and you can't get
up too quickly.
Right, right.
Exactly.
But both are very nice and it looks like they have one,
two, three, six, seven, eight now
for rental and we did hear they are putting in some more.
Yeah, they were very nice.
So like I said before,
it would be a good option if you do have a rig and prefer to
keep it you know at your home base or wherever.
And if you look in our description below,
I will put a link to the website.
There's two websites.
There's one for the cottage rental and then there's one for the park.
So I'll put links in for both if you're interested in either.
Right.
And it's kind of nice not to be right on the ocean.
Yeah.
Like we said, if your focus is not the beach,
And then it's the restaurants and the other atmosphere here.
Right.
You know, this is definitely a great place,
and we would really enjoy it.
We think you would really enjoy it, I guess, is what I'm trying to say.
Yes, we really enjoyed it.
Lincoln really enjoyed it.
There are you know there are other dogs in the park, but we just happened
to be lucky enough to get next to a very nice couple.
We're willing to invite Lincoln and Zephyr in,
and Lincoln really enjoyed playing with their two dogs,
and it certainly gave Zephyr a break.
Yeah, yeah, definitely.
So, yeah.
Let us know of other places in Myrtle Beach area
that you stayed at that you would recommend
as a place to stay,
especially in like the North Myrtle Beach,
because we've never stayed here at all before today,
and we'd like to explore more places as we come here.
So put something in the comments we'd appreciate
that and if you like this oh you're gonna say oh
and perhaps other campgrounds
or parks that are not right on the ocean that you know people may
like it instead yeah because there's there's
other ones around here that we we see but we
don't never been to yet right
