The Philadelphia Eagles gave multiple huge injury updates ahead
of their Week 5 London
matchup versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Eagles fans have some room for optimism,
but certainly some room for pessimism.
Unfortunately, I'm your host Colin Kelly.
Welcome to Eagles Digest.
We're going to react to this Thursday injury report where
a lot is to be dissected.
Why the Eagles are in a tricky spot though.
before we do subscribe to join
the most passionately informed community of Eagles fans
it's free after all most of you not subscribed we're
so close to 2,500 subs when you look at
the state of this Eagles team Saquon Barkley you know it's always going
to be a tall order for him
to play in this matchup versus Jacksonville
in London nonetheless not participating in practice
the hammy he's in all likelihood you're not going
to play you've got Hollywood Brown Marcus Epps not
practicing as well Jonathan Grenard unfortunately
not practicing Eagles losing a potentially huge
even in a limited snap count edge presence ability
to pressure the quarterback and then you look at
Drew Kendall the new center the center
of the future with the of course Cam Juergens trade
earlier this week not participating due to a knee injury
and then a hammy Devante Smith still
not practicing on a little bit of a brighter side you
do have Zach Vaughn limited so he looks like
he's potentially moving out of the concussion protocol you've
also got Dontavian Wicks popping
up with a hamstring another receiver hamstring injury
so another not so positive notably you
also had Dallas Goddard be a limited participant
so things are trending certainly better than they
have with one Dallas Goddard.
So where you potentially gain a pass catcher, maybe you
lose a pass catcher. But how about Quinion Mitchell?
Full participant in practice. That's
huge. That's huge for this Eagles defense.
We knew it did not go well those last few drives
in the Rams game. Quinion Mitchell can make
a massive difference in just keeping the Eagles
in competitive hopes in this London matchup.
Because without him, you're looking at a potential
but that's just not the case
and when i think about how this matchup lines up eagles versus
jags courtesy of calci thank you
for sponsoring today's video you look at the market right now
the jags 76 chance to win versus the eagles just 24
not so great which is understandable the beauty
of calci though is you're trading directly against other users
not the house like traditional sports
books you're buying yes or no contracts on the outcome
of events related to politics even weather
markets but of course sports like your Philadelphia Eagles
and when I think about how this game plays
out I think you're going to see some points scored
here especially when I look at 42 plus points for
the total the Jags have a solid offense Liam Cohen
led team Trevor Lawrence it got some weapons in
the past game to be sure but the Eagles getting back
a Dallas Goddard I think significantly raises
both the floor and the ceiling of this office just
a really big time security blanket and so when i
look at this 42 plus points a 25 yes trade at 54
chance to pay 46 50 cents if you're interested

when you trade your first 25 when you look at some of
the weird things that are popping up
the notable Dontavian Wicks injury courtesy of Jeff McLean
Dontavian Wicks added to the report with a hammy limited today
which suggests it happened today
is something going on with this Eagles training regimen
as far as receivers are concerned as far
as medical personnel I don't know what's going
on why is it now a third Eagles wide receiver
We, of course, know Devontae Smith was, of course,
out this past week, a hamstring injury.
But with Makai Lemon, Devontae Smith notably dealt
with a hammy throughout a majority of preseason.
And here, Devontae Wicks all of a sudden pops up again.
You gotta think there's something going on here.
It just smells weird how a third wide receiver,
how now all three of your top wide receivers
have dealt with hamstring injuries this early in the season.
the positive I alluded in my stance of this game
Dallas Goddard courtesy of Ashlyn Sullivan
Goddard tells me he's very confident he'll be able
to play Sunday versus the Jacks that that's huge
all you want all we can ask is Eagles fans
is for Jalen Hurts to have some level of comfort
with all the change going on in front of him
and around him getting Dallas Goddard I think is
massive for this Eagles team in the context
of this Sunday matchup to have any type of competitive
hopes a Dallas Goddard he
is a big boost just quick throws consistent target option over the
middle of the field one of now will certainly look set
to be the most have the most rapport
of any weapon available this Sunday any pass catcher
for one Jalen Hurts the impact that
Dallas Goddard can provide now along the offense alluding
to all the change around Jalen Hurts
what gives you some reason for concern here look
at all the injuries you look at the offensive
line though in particular Drew Kendall
not practicing this week after being a bit of a
bright spot when he's been tasked called upon early
in this season all of a sudden you're
looking at two potential debuts in terms of starts
in the interior at both left guard and center
Willie Lampkin notably filling in at left guard
but not even pictured on the on the depth chart
technically for the Philadelphia Eagles as far
as center is one Jake Majors who with Lampkin
in the preseason actually along with Markel Bell
were some relative bright spots you look at Jake
Majors in particular he had this to say
when asked about his potential season debut my goal every
week is to prepare like a starter he talked about
the coaches instilling confidence in him as well
look the Eagles have clear confidence
and trust in their young offensive linemen to even make the
Cam Jurgens type of trade of course Drew Kendall has filled
in has done relatively a relative good
job to be clear but then you look at the likes
of willie lampkin the 511 one of the shortest
offensive linemen in the nfl
but the wrestling background an absolute bowling ball a menace
to deal with even at his size he's just able to get
a lot of leverage jake majors a young a second
year player but a guy that the eagles have clear trust
and confidence in and he talks about the
preparation that he's been undergoing the mindset
of being like of being a starter week in week out
He played significant preseason minutes.
I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised by this Eagles offense,
by at least the offensive line with some fresh legs.
We know the toll it can take on the veteran presences.
Mylotta, Cam Jurgens, of course, Landon Dickerson on the IR.
We wish all the best to Lane Johnson.
It's a new era for Eagles offensive line.
We're going to get a real glimpse of it this matchup.
While maybe the odds are stacked against them,
the talent, the Jags defense, we've got some optimism.
I've got reason to be pleasantly surprised.
I think with how this Eagles offense, especially under Sean Mannion,
has looked in the second half, I think something's got to give.
I think there's, with the injury situation,
there's going to be game plan,
all the talk about identity, the issues around that,
or the Eagles' lack thereof.
Something's got to change.
Something will certainly change with a lot of new personnel on Sunday
as far as the offense is concerned.
defensively one of the big takeaways quinion
mitchell having him healthy really gives the
eagles any chance i think of staying relatively competitive
in this game but also how about a
zach bond getting him back those two are arguably
the best two defenders in terms of form right now
on this eagles defense we know
the defensive line especially now without jonathan bernard
it looks like again haven't been the most lethal
in terms of converting pressures into sacks
Trevor Lawrence, an athletic quarterback,
going to have, I think, some time, some options
against the Seagulls secondary, the second levels, if you will.
So Zach Vaughn, Queen on Mitchell,
I think they at least give the Eagles a shot in this
matchup.
Guys, I want to hear from you,
particularly your feelings about the game, but how about
the offense?
When it seems like all the chips are stacked against them,
do you expect the offense to
look better at least as far
as their second half performances how they sound this season has
transpired thus far i think we do see a bit
of a better eagles second half offense i think we see
an eagles offense that could surprise us relative
to expectations but do you guys
agree let me know down below have
a great one i'll see you next one as always go birds
