With only $2,500 RMB.
Which is how much USD?
Very little.
Okay.
Divide that by 7.
$357?!
Hello! Welcome to S&T Chats.
Today, we bring you Zhao Lusi.
Oh.
Versus her agency.
Oh!
Dun dun dun!
Oh my god. Wait, wait, wait.
The agency that she left?
She never left her agency.
Oh, she never left?
We were like, why doesn't she leave?
Yeah.
Everybody's like, why doesn't she leave?
Well, because she has to pay a lot of money, right?
Yeah, so she never left.
Oh, right.
Yeah.
Now it's really like going.
Oh my.
Yeah, I mean, the entertainment industry is so hard.
Yeah, it's so messed up.
So she's been with the agency for 9 years.
Wow, that's long.
The agency is called Galaxy Cool Entertainment.
Like C-O-O-L?
Galaxy Cool?
Yeah, cool.
The translation for English is that, yeah.
Okay.
Such a lame name.
Anyways, okay.
So, why she's actually suing them?
Oh, she is.
Yes.
Why she's suing them is, remember when she got sick?
Yeah.
When she got sick at that time, she was doing filming, right?
Yeah.
And they locked her up in a hotel room and called exorcists.
Yeah, so they called that because they thought,
they think she was 中邪了.
They think that she got possessed.
So they called that instead of calling a doctor
or sending her to the hospital.
What the heck?
Yes.
Are they crazy?
And then people, you know, people constantly are saying
she's faking her illness and blah, blah, blah.
Yeah, yeah.
So what happened is she actually posted her medical exam report
of her diagnosis of her illness.
Yeah, and it was like a lot of stuff.
Like she's severely depressed.
Depression, like severe depression.
So then she started streaming on Douyin.
She started a live stream like these few days.
And she wanted to stream because she wanted her fans to know
that she was okay.
That was the first, she was like, that was one of the things she's like,
you guys, I'm not crazy.
I'm not like, because people are going to say she's going crazy.
That's why she's streaming.
She's like, no, I'm not crazy.
Look, I'm eating normally, I'm everything.
And she wanted to tell her fans that she was okay.
That's why she, you know, did the stream.
And her stream like attracted 30 million views.
Wow.
Yeah.
And basically throughout the stream, like she was, you know,
she said a lot of stuff about the company and stuff,
what they did with the hotel and everything.
Okay, okay.
And she just wanted communication between her and the company.
Okay.
Because she, another reason why she, you know,
her final step of coming out on stream is because she has this,
the company said they will, you know,
help her with her medical bills and stuff.
And they're not.
Yeah.
And they're laying everything on her and they're not doing anything.
And they're not communicating with her.
Like no responding to her.
What the heck?
Yeah.
It's like a black business.
Yeah.
So this is a public fight between Lu Si and Zipenjia Capital.
Oh my goodness.
And why she didn't leave her agency.
If you watch our other video,
like our video about her is because she re-signed her contract with this agency.
Like I think maybe a year ago before,
just before her illness happened.
And it's until 2030.
Oof.
Yes.
And if she was going to leave,
the fine for her would be like around $13 million.
Oof.
USD.
Yes, USD.
This is USD.
This is crazy.
And then what happened is like, you know,
she came out with the streaming.
Yeah.
And then her agency came out with this report and everything
saying that claiming they didn't do anything bad to her.
And blah, blah, blah.
And then really famous post.
Well, I think it's pretty,
it's pretty like cool or strong women.
What she says is like,
Oh, I don't need you guys to block me or cancel me.
Yeah.
I'm quitting.
Yeah.
That's what she posted.
So yeah, we never really did a dedicated video on her.
So I just want to, you know,
do a little background on her.
Okay.
All her nine years, 10 years that she's been in the industry.
So she was actually born on November 9th, 1998.
Very close to my birthday.
Yeah.
She's Chengdu, Sichuan.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
She's from there.
And she entered the entertainment industry in 2016.
Oh.
Yeah.
And her first like entrance was she co-started,
co-hosting like a variety, like a program.
Okay.
Yes.
And then in 2017,
she made her acting debut with a supporting role
in the web drama Cinderella Chef.
She was a supporting role.
Oh, okay.
She was in the main.
And then in 2021,
when she got her second female lead
was in the drama, The Long Ballad.
Okay.
That kind of really...
Was really...
Yeah.
Blew her up.
And then, you know,
she has other,
a lot of other dramas with like,
Who Rules the World with Yang Yang.
Yeah.
That was very popular.
And then Hidden Love.
I watched that.
That's really cute.
The Story of Pearl Girl.
So during her stream,
actually she mentioned that
her first month pay
in the entertainment industry
was only 2,500 RMB.
Which is how much USD?
Very little.
Okay.
Divide that by seven.
$357?
What?
Wait, wait.
This is one month?
Yes.
But that to a Chinese
打工人
like normal worker
is probably normal.
But that's the reality
of how much Chinese people are being paid.
$357 a month?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh my lordy.
And that's like being an actor and everything.
And then like,
she went from that 2,500 RMB a month
to 5,000 RMB a month
to now, you know,
she gets sponsors and stuff.
It's only $714.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Pretty sad.
Yeah.
So her illness,
let's go back to her illness.
It kind of started in 2022 to 2023
around COVID time.
And she was first diagnosed with COVID.
And then with also,
she experienced like hair losses,
hives,
and like daily illness,
like pretty severe.
And then what happened was that
her father had cancer.
Like really bad.
Like she didn't say what stage it was,
but it was like,
it's probably I'm guessing like late cancer.
Yeah.
Three or four.
And then her grandfather became like really ill too.
Oh no.
So those,
it was just like a continuous thing.
And then during that time
is when she had that boss event happen.
Oh my god.
Go watch our video on that.
Yeah.
And then there was rumors of her spreading
like about her skipping work
and,
you know,
faking her illness and everything.
Just a lot of bad rumors of her.
You know,
she kept on still filming and working still though.
You know,
and then it was until 2024,
like the late end of that year,
last year,
when she fully,
fully collapsed.
Okay.
We remember that,
right?
Like she had that.
And even when she was there and that,
people still like say she was faking her illness.
There were so many reports of that.
And I believe after she collapsed,
like collapsed, collapsed,
within a month,
she made her appearance again.
Within a month?
It was like within a couple months,
like really quick.
And then that's why people are saying,
oh,
how can you recover within a month?
Yeah.
You know,
that was people saying that.
And then she was in the wheelchair
and she was like,
she was just so skinny and weak.
Yeah.
And then,
yeah.
So this is what's going on.
But she's suing them.
Good.
Yeah.
Because her agency is like financial
and emotional manipulation.
Yes.
And they're failed to provide for medical support.
She has proof, right?
I hope so.
If she's suing it for such specific reasons,
it must be because she has proof.
I don't want her to wear a hat.
It's not like she's going crazy or something.
It's just a normal way of dealing with things.
It's a matter of how it develops.
Right?
How it should develop.
Right?
I'm not saying I don't want to pay any price.
I'm very willing to pay.
I just need an exchange.
I don't want to fight.
I don't want to get mad.
I don't want to put up with it.
It's wrong.
It's right.
Oh my goodness.
Yeah.
And then this is her famous post.
Yeah.
It's kind of crazy.
And this is a really funny video.
I'm so afraid of boxing.
I'm afraid of it.
I've been with you on live streams for four hours.
I'm so tired.
Your hands have broken.
Your hands are broken.
You're so weak.
Hurry and go back to writing your post.
Go back to writing your post.
I'm leaving.
You have time to write your post.
I'm leaving.
Don't stay up late.
I'm leaving.
Bye.
So in that video, she was like saying,
Oh, tomorrow there's going to be so many articles about her
and that she's going crazy she's blah blah blah and then like she's saying okay
I'll end the stream live for you guys so you guys don't have to work overtime
like think of your script how you're gonna write it you know it's just yeah
and then um so her thing like I kind of corresponded with when Yang Mi had that
her thing too with her agency and everything remember and so like at that
time Yang Mi posted something you can't kill me just wait till I become like
stronger yeah and like that and that kind of like resonates with what's going
on with Zhao Lusi because she's fighting with her capital and her agency yeah but
it's just uh that's what going on with her you know I'm super proud of her very
very I'm a you know a pretty big fan of her you know and I'm glad she's standing
up to China's capital her oppressor yeah and she also mentioned in the live
stream that a lot of people like everyone experience these things yeah
it's just nobody has like spoken out nobody have the guts yeah to do it
because if you do speak out like obviously this kind of reminds me of
Li Yuxue yeah like that video if you guys want what happened is she spoke out
too mm-hmm and what they said is she went crazy too and they locked her up in
the mental hospital yeah and she just disappeared yeah you know and what she
knows when of her doing this taking this action that she's gonna be you know
canceled by the government and stuff but she's like yeah you can cancel me I
just want I'm gonna quit like people are so oppressed in China that I think
that's why a lot of people are like going against each other like I can't
see you happy because it's gonna make me realize how unhappy I am I think the
whole environment just makes people like you said it's so suppressed that it
makes people go crazy yeah you know and that's why you know some people do some
crazy stuff yeah it's just you know a few years ago there were so many people
dropping off the you know suicide in college because it was so much pressure
that the like suicide rate was like yeah of course you know they're not gonna
report that stuff out a lot but it's a huge problem in China because you know
Chinese parents are like you gotta get all A's yeah you know that's why there's
this famous saying of tiger moms you know and it's just so much pressure on
that and then people just they just give up you know and then just it's just so
sad and and the saddest thing to me is that 没有王法了 yeah there's no there's
no rules it's like the laws are there but are they gonna follow the law and be
good mmm I just feel like like Zhao Lusi what she said in her stream is like what
she wants is justice yeah kind of like if you're if you're wrong then you're
wrong if I'm wrong then I am wrong but I need this communication I need this
clarity yeah it's justice and that that's like none is existent in China
you know it's not it's you know whoever has the money whoever has the power yeah
but then a lot of people are gonna say it's like that in America too yes
certain degrees because the whole world is like poop right now yeah but like I
believe in some extent you still can't fight for your justice in America yeah
you know yeah so I mean it's not like the whole American system is as messed
up as China right like we can all see that you know people living here people
living in China those who have escaped China yeah and have came to America why
you know it's like it's because it's there's still you have this yeah and you
have an opportunity here in America that's the bigger difference in China
like you you if you want to climb to the top you gotta do something really bad
yeah really really bad like that video that we did about Yang Mi about if you
want to be an A-list actress you can just do those kind of things and you'll
be A-list actress yeah but sometimes even if you do do it you probably I don't
know yeah you might not even get there yeah but I think overall the
entertainment industry is just really messed up and all that but yeah yeah
that's what I got for Zhao Lusi today I hope she won't disappear yeah and you
know I just hope they don't condemn her and be like 你瘋了 oh my goodness
because that's kind of what they did to Li Yixue that's what they did to
really yeah they sacrificed him for like oh that's why as a scapegoat of course
well we gotta talk about Deng Lun too that's something yeah okay so what I
feel like what we need to do as international fans is to spread the word
on what's currently going on in China with Zhao Lusi because I feel like the
more the people know the more eyes are gonna be on this and then in this way
the government won't do anything rash to Lusi because they know hey
international fans they are seeing this if you touch even a hair if you make her
disappear for like a few seconds we're gonna go to our I don't know government
and be like give me justice well I mean she is very trending yeah in China and I
get in America too at least on YouTube I see a lot about her too yeah well maybe
they should do something bad because then people will actually see their true
colors I know I feel because a lot I feel like one thing like a lot of people
don't think China is so bad or the government Chinese government's CCP is
bad it's because people don't believe it they don't think they're bad that bad I
think half the people don't know but then the other half they actually do
know they do know and they do know but they it's like this sort of situations
comes up every day it's like everyday occurrence where they're like no do this
kind of yeah I mean I mean overseas yeah people overseas we're different yeah but
I think because there hasn't been a really like a public figure like that's
like her kind of that's really going against against her agency and her
capital I think this is at least my first time seeing someone who's like
speaking really straightforward you know and yeah saying a lot of stuff for
they did and I don't know what they do because her agency you know whoever owns
a they have a lot of back they have a lot of money and power yeah and they
have a lot of connections too yeah exactly so but a lot of people are
saying China's collapsing so we'll see yeah let's let's all keep an eye out on
Lewis's case and let's help out whenever we can right so the best way to do is
spread the word yeah I mean think just think she spent like 10 years of our
career yeah 10 years of her life yeah life in such an oppressive agency yeah
and she got this horrible disease I mean depression is yeah it's really it's a
really mental thing yeah you know like like for them to for someone to be like
that this is just one person out of everybody in the entertainment industry
yeah there's just a lot that we don't know yep okay and so that's it for
today's video don't forget to Like and subscribe and we will see you next time
bye
