Good evening and welcome to the Capitol Report on entity television.
I'm Steve Lance. Coming up, President Trump just hours away from his meeting
with CCP leader Xi Jinping in South Korea.
What to look out for and what's expected from the high stakes event.
Mariotsu standing by live in Korea and funding for the snap program
about to run dry while Democrats raising concerns over Obamacare prices.
Texas Republican Congresswoman Beth Van Dyne joins us in studio
to discuss and Hurricane Melissa slamming Cuba
and causing widespread devastation across the Caribbean.
Recovery and relief efforts are now underway as communities begin
the long process of cleaning up and rebuilding.
And our panel tonight newly released documents showing that more than 160
Republicans may have been investigated by the FBI during former President
Biden's term. We'll hear from Bill Caruso and Chet Love.
This is Capitol Report, live from our global headquarters
in our nation's capital, here's Steve Lance.
President Trump meeting with CCP leader Xi Jinping in Busan, South Korea,
just hours away, the meeting comes amid heightened trade tensions
and President Trump predicting it will last three to four hours
with the Chinese dictator.
While the two have spoken last month, this will be their first sit down
in President Trump's second term.
We go live now to entities, Washington correspondent Mari Otsu,
who's standing by live in Korea.
So good evening, Mari.
What are we expecting both sides to bring up at this very high stakes meeting?
Steve, good evening to you.
President Trump's goals for this meeting include finalizing a trade deal
with China, as well as the sale of TikTok to the U.S.,
getting China to buy more U.S. agriculture.
The president has expressed a particular interest in soybeans
over the past weeks and increasing U.S.
access to Chinese critical minerals and rare earths.
And on CCP leader Xi Jinping's side, his goals include nixing that tariff
on Chinese goods and avoiding export restrictions on American technology.
Now, here's President Trump on Wednesday on his way to South Korea,
saying that he expects to lower U.S.
tariffs in exchange for Beijing's imports, in exchange for Beijing
committing to curb its imports of fentanyl ingredients to the U.S.
Take a look.
I expect to be lowering that because I believe that they're going to help us
with the fentanyl situation.
I think we're going to have something that's going to be very,
very satisfactory to China and to us.
Earlier this year, President Trump had imposed a 20 percent tariff
on Chinese imports over Beijing's failure to curb the flow of chemicals
that are used in fentanyl production to the U.S.
And he's also recently floated a 100 percent tariff over China's restrictions
on a rare earth exports, although the White House said over the weekend
that that threat has gone down as China has backed down, Steve.
Certainly lots to watch out for there, Mari.
What else can you tell us is in focus as the president wraps up his visit
to the three Asian countries in the region?
Sure, Steve, so another expected topic could be the weaponization
and the militarization of the South China Sea.
President Trump has encouraged Asian allies this week
to boost their defense spending.
And Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in Japan.
The threats we face are real and they are urgent.
China's unprecedented military buildup
and its aggressive military actions speak for themselves.
That's why President Trump's peace through strength agenda is so important.
Now, this is coming on the last leg of President Trump's Asia tour,
and he's just now announcing that South Korea, South Korea
has agreed to, quote, pay the US three hundred fifty billion dollars
in exchange for the US to lower its tariff rates against them.
President Trump also says that new investments will exceed
six hundred billion dollars, and he's vowing to bring back
trillions of dollars to the US
as he also secures investments from Japan and Malaysia.
Steve, back to you.
And to these Mario Otsu live from South Korea.
Thank you, Mari.
The Senate this evening voting to repeal tariffs on Canada
over fentanyl trafficking for Republicans joining Democrats
in the symbolic measure, which is unlikely to make it to the House floor.
Earlier this week, President Trump hiking tariffs on Canada
by an additional 10 percent.
Meantime, back on Capitol Hill, the government still shut down,
going on its twenty ninth day, approaching the record of thirty four days.
Joining us in studio, Texas Congresswoman Beth Van Dyne.
Congresswoman, it's great to have you with us here.
So, yeah, back back in D.C.
You're obviously here. We're on day twenty nine
from the military to paying SNAP benefits.
How is this impacting the American people?
Well, I think you're seeing right now this administration
has taken this seriously, is trying to do everything that they can
to not have it affect the American people on their fighting ways
of being able to get get money to WIC programs so that, you know,
women, infant and children are not affected.
They've been trying to figure out how to pay the military.
They're doing everything that they can.
But how is it affecting people?
You've got how many millions of federal workers that in just a few days
are going to go without pay on that?
You have you have law enforcement.
You've got air traffic controllers.
You've got TSA flight.
You know, flying is going to be very difficult.
You've got tens of millions of people that are on SNAP benefits
that are getting ready to lose those benefits
for at least a short period of time until we can open the government.
And it's incredible.
Like all you're asking Democrats to do is to vote for a funding mechanism
that they have already voted for a dozen times under the Biden administration,
setting their their level of budget, their their funding levels,
which, by the way, a lot of us in Congress did not want to support.
This was a gift that was handed to Democrats.
And yet it's still not enough.
They voted now 13 times against it.
They really need to get out of their fetal positions in the corner,
you know, because they are fearful of folks like the the Marxist
loving on the dummy in New York.
They need to get back to work.
They need to listen to their supporters.
Listen to the Democrats in their district.
Listen to the the now you've got the federal union workers,
you know, that are saying enough of the politics.
Get back to work.
Speaking of the politics, your average American is busy,
you know, taking the kids to school, to soccer practice and,
you know, trying to put food on the table.
Not necessarily so in tune to the inner workings of government.
And so when it comes to this
continuing resolution to pass to fund the government,
the Democrats are saying that the reason why they're not coming to the table
is because people's health care and Obamacare prices are going to skyrocket.
Talk to us about that.
And what is the Republicans plan to address?
Well, there's a number of things, right?
What they put on this in order to negotiate,
they put on a one point five trillion dollar wish list.
Part of this has to do with the extended subsidies.
The fact is that every Democrat, though, voted for this end date.
We're not cutting subsidies.
It was specifically to be able to pay for it has an end date.
And that's what's happening.
But let's see where are these subsidies gone?
Have they gone to actually decrease the price that people are paying for health
care? No.
The average family's increase in premiums has been about 86 percent.
That is how much more families are paying for their health care premiums.
By the way, access is decreased.
Prices have increased. Quality has decreased.
But do you know who's gotten the subsidies?
The health insurance companies.
The health insurance companies have enjoyed 230 percent profits,
all while denying over a third of all claims.
So the Democrats are willing to fight for the insurance companies,
not for the working families. And what do they want to do?
They want to continue having good money follow bad.
It is not working. Come to the table.
Let's actually figure out the solution to hold these insurance companies
accountable, to make sure that they're actually covering what their people
who are paying these outrageous premiums are actually paying for
and stop with the with the corporate buyout, which is basically what this program
is, from what I understand.
Another major argument for fiscally conservative
Republicans is the the amount that it would add to the national debt
over a series of time.
Democratic states are also arguing the Trump administration
has the legal authority to tap into a five billion dollar contingency fund
to keep those SNAP benefits going.
Explain that situation.
Well, I think what Republicans are saying is that the contingency fund
is for emergencies.
I worked for the first Trump administration.
I worked under Secretary Ben Carson when we had Hurricane Harvey.
Those funds are meant for those types of of of unexpected disasters.
That's what those funds are for.
What Democrats want to do now is say, oh, no, we have voted
to keep the government shut, but this is an unexpected disaster.
You've created this disaster.
You can't take disaster dollars.
And you're seeing hurricanes now, right, affecting various areas
of not not too far away from us, various areas of right outside the country.
Expect that to continue.
You want to make sure that you've got those dollars.
We also have other money that's being funded to protect
women and school programs, the WIC program,
infant food for infants.
That's where they want to take the money from.
Get back to work.
Open the government back up.
You need what, six, six Democrats to actually realize, you know,
come to the table and do what is common sense.
Do what they've already done over a dozen times before
in the Biden administration.
This is not rocket science.
And to your previous point, it is it was agreed upon
in the previous bill that this was the Obamacare tax rates.
They were going to expire.
And it is not typical to
the Democrats voted for them to expire.
They did.
And so this is should not be a shock to them.
All of a sudden, they all voted for this end date.
Yeah, the idea was, though, if you remember, it was the Affordable Care Act.
Has anything been affordable since this bill was passed?
No. You have seen skyrocketing costs in health care.
No increase in quality, but harder to access, harder to pay for.
And they've confused health insurance with health care.
People can't even afford to get health insurance right now,
which means they're not getting the health care that they need.
We have got to redo this plan, which, you know, all Republicans
voted against telling them this is what's going to happen.
We've now proven it out over a decade later.
It is time to come to the table and let us figure out
what is an actual solution, because this was an utter failure.
Just lastly, and briefly, if you could, we're on date 29.
We had heard that Democrats would perhaps come to the table
once they got through the no King's protests.
Now we're edging up on breaking the record.
Is there any sign you hearing anything on the Hill
when they're going to actually come to the table?
And if they will?
I think, you know, at first I already lost this bet, right?
I was asked I was already asked what I thought.
And I said five to seven days because I figured what was going to happen
was Russell was going to come to the table with a list of of employee names,
programs and agencies that they were getting ready to cut,
you know, at 12 or one on November 1st.
That has not happened.
They've been very strategic.
They have been very careful in in announcing some of those risks.
It is now, you know, the King's rally.
Are we going to wait until next next week?
You know, when you've got the the vote in in Virginia and New York
to see how they come out, you know, is it is it politically acceptable
or are they gaining gaining support?
Are they not?
Are we going to wait and to make sure that we go past the 35 days?
At this point in time, I would argue the Democrats are paying politics
and they are ignoring the human tragedy.
I think the more that they hear from these governors
who are willing to sue the federal government
instead of calling up their senators and telling someone saying
this is the painful feeling vote the right way
or are they going to continue to play, you know, to play games with people's lives?
We've already heard Democrat after Democrat acknowledge the fact
that these families are hurting, they're suffering
and that they're doing it so that they have leverage.
And there is leverage.
She's got to stop.
There is support for it on the Senate side.
There are Democrats that have said it's time to come to the table.
Look at Fetterman.
Yeah, he's like, stop playing games, stop playing politics
and start looking out for the people.
Texas Congresswoman Beth Van Dyne, really appreciate you joining.
Meantime, Hurricane Melissa causing severe damage across the Caribbean
after striking the region as a category three storm this morning.
Hurricane has claimed several lives.
Recovery efforts still underway.
And today's Christina Corona brings us an update.
Hurricane Melissa struck eastern Cuba this morning
as an extremely dangerous category three storm causing severe damage.
Cuban authorities report that over 700,000 people have been evacuated
in the eastern part of the country.
By Wednesday evening, Melissa had weakened to a category two
and moved into the Atlantic, heading toward the Bahamas
with heavy rain and flooding expected.
Tropical storm warnings for the Turks and Caicos.
The most dangerous conditions will be in the next few hours here
as the center of Melissa moves through the Bahamas.
Storm surge inundation of four to seven feet above ground level near
and to the right of where the center of Melissa is moving.
Though winds have decreased, officials say dangerous storm
surges and rainfall remain a threat as Melissa moves toward the Bahamas
and Bermuda.
At least 36 deaths have been reported across Jamaica, Haiti
and the Dominican Republic.
In Jamaica, the storm knocked out power to more than 600,000 residents
uprooted trees, ripped off roofs and blocked roads in several parishes.
One resident shared the terrifying experience as Melissa passed.
Worst experience of my entire life.
To see my place being flooded out.
It's it was terrifying for me and my child.
The water level reached me to my waist.
I was stuck in my house.
They had to break into my home to save me.
Rebuilding in Jamaica will be a long term effort, officials say,
as homes, hospitals and infrastructure were heavily damaged
and access remains challenging.
U.N. officials report that immediate relief efforts are underway,
focusing on providing food, water and other essential supplies.
And immediately some of the actions that will be taken is really around life
support initiatives of life sustaining initiatives,
making available water, food
and other resources that that need the need by the people being affected.
Jamaica's U.N.
resident coordinator says that at least one airport in Kingston
will reopen tomorrow, allowing aid to begin flowing into the country.
A Florida based organization is assembling emergency relief kits
filled with hygiene products and essential supplies
to send to storm hit communities in Jamaica.
Today, we got a lot of staff and we're going to get through
and pack the remaining goods that we've got that will be in a form of a kit.
So it's it's the hygiene items.
It's it's the the things that, frankly, just people need
is an immediate response to a sort of emergency, especially a water one.
So you got everything from buckets that are the containers,
but they also have all of the goods that we need in that as a sort of complete kit.
Accuweather experts are initially projecting total damages
and economic losses of around 22 billion dollars.

Markets responding to the potential of President Trump making a trade deal
at his meeting with the Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping.
They're now to discuss the implications of the president's visit to
is Republican Congressman Ron Estes.
Congressman Ron Estes, thanks so much for joining.
Thank you. It's good to be here.
Great to have you with us, Congressman.
So markets seem to be rallying ahead of President Trump's meeting
with the Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping.
Trump has mentioned preventing China's rare earth
restrictions, export restrictions that would really disrupt global supply chains.
We saw the way the market reacted when China floated that possibility.
What's your outlook on that situation?
Yeah, it really was a disruptive thing when China said that several weeks ago.
I mean, you know, when we look at how critical earth
mineral rare earth minerals are for all the things we want to do going forward,
it's so important that we have and all countries,
including China, follow free and fair trade practices.
I mean, that's that's kind of the point that's made
our economic engine in the world grow and continue to grow
and continue to help individuals.
So I think looking at President Trump's discussions with the presidency
is looking at, you know, how can we help make the economic ties
between the United States and China stronger?
How can we make sure that China practices those and follows
those fair trade practices that we've talked about?
And I also would hope that he would look and talk about fentanyl
and some of the drug issues that are so, so devastating
for so many of our American citizens.
Congressman, in February, President Trump did impose those tariffs
on Beijing over their failure to curb fentanyl
and the precursors that come out of China to make fentanyl.
He says that China subsidizes companies producing those chemicals
and is smuggling them into the United States through Venezuela.
Has there been any improvement on this front?
And what do you hope to see coming out of the current trade discussions
with regard to fentanyl?
I think the biggest improvement that we've seen so far is just the enforcement
that President Trump's been putting on the border in terms of making sure that
we don't have more people crossing the border illegally.
And as a result, there's less fentanyl coming into the country
through those means of the but the overall practice that
that China has in providing those precursors
and or maybe providing fentanyl itself to actually use in the smuggling trade
is is not characteristic of what you would expect of a good trading partner.
And and so I am hopeful that as part of these discussions,
that China is willing to be engaged and say that it's important enough
to the Chinese economy that they actually act like a fair trading partner
so that we can address those issues and make sure that we minimize
that those negative consequences of things like smuggling.
Another issue I'd like to get your thoughts on is the issue of human rights.
China recently detaining 30 Christian pastors and folks associated with them.
The underground church has been persecuted in China for decades.
You have the Falun Gong spiritual movement who has been targeted
by this forced organ harvesting,
allowing that to then spread to the Uyghur Muslim population.
Any administration, not just the current one, tends to soften its criticism
of China's human rights abuses because it is their third rail
in order to get them to sit at the table, because oftentimes
they'll get up and walk away as soon as that is brought up.
What is the cost of us sort of putting human rights on the back burner?
And what more can any administration do
to defend those being persecuted for their faith?
Yeah, I mean, as you mentioned, China has a long history of of human rights
abuses, whether it's related to Christians, whether it's to the Falun Gong
or whether it's the Uyghurs, but also just from a standpoint
of of slave trade practices and using that in their economy.
And as you said in the past, a lot of company, a lot of leadership
in whether it's the United States or in other countries around the world
have backed away because China's objected to bringing up
a commentary about their their human rights abuses.
President Trump hasn't done that.
I mean, he's been willing to stand up and say, you know, we need to make sure
that the good practices are followed and, you know, been willing to push forth
some of his tariffs and some of his other leading points on trade
to actually make sure that some of these unfair practices are addressed.
And so I look forward to having some some good dialogue when they meet.
And ultimately, I do think it'll take a long time
because some of these things, I think, are built into the Chinese economy
and they may have to figure out that in their own self best interest
is to agree to head in the right direction and and act
the same way that we would expect our trade partners to react.
If we want to have trading partners that are considered most favored nation status.
It would be quite a spectacle if President Trump did raise human rights
issues in the public sphere, given the fact that he is a leader like none other.
I think we just have to acknowledge that in terms of when he speaks,
the world listens.
We saw that in Argentina, perhaps in their recent election.
So perhaps it would send earthquakes, shaking tremors
throughout communist China with regard to human rights.
Yeah, I think it really is.
President Trump's been he knows there's going to be heat.
I mean, just like other presidents knew there were going to be heat,
but they didn't address it, whereas President Trump's been willing to step up
and say he was willing to take the slings and arrows, if you would,
in terms of the criticisms that would come at him.
But he was willing to address and focus on what's the right thing to do.
Certainly, this president has confronted communist China
like no other president that we have ever seen.
Congressman Ron Estes, greatly appreciate you joining us.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
And as President Trump is slated to meet with Chinese dictator Xi Jinping,
renewed attention is being drawn to the CCP's human rights abuses.
The Falun Dafa Information Center today urging President Trump
to highlight the nationwide persecution campaign against the spiritual group.
It's the Chinese Communist Party's decades long suppression of Falun Gong
spiritual practice based on the core teachings of truthfulness,
compassion and forbearance.
In a statement, the nonprofit is asking President Trump to to mention
jailed Falun Gong practitioners with U.S.
family members and call for their release.
The group also urging for an end to China's transnational
repression against Falun Gong inside of the United States.
Since July 1999, Falun Gong practitioners in China
have been jailed, tortured and even killed for their belief.
Meantime, outside of China, the group has faced misinformation,
violent assaults and frivolous lawsuits against them here in the United States.
Several leaked internal documents inside of China
suggesting crushing Falun Gong at home and abroad
remains a top priority for the Chinese Communist Party.
And so should the United States bring up human rights
in the upcoming trade talks with the CCP?
Antony Sam Wong was out in the National Mall in D.C.
to ask the people.
On the sideline of this trade deal, do you think human rights
should be brought up as well?
Definitely.
We should spend our dollars on goods that come from countries
that protect human rights.
China is rather.
How do I say this?
Not very friendly to their people.
We should stand for human rights.
I mean, we should stand up for them, because isn't that what we're all about?
Absolutely. I think it's very important.
I don't know if that's going to, again, work with China.
But I think bringing that on top of that should come on top of everything.
Because we know that China does not honor any human rights,
whether it's religious, whether it's, you know, trade, whatever it is.
And so I think for United States to enter anything with China,
human rights should be on top of any deal.
I am a Christian.
Human rights would be, yeah, probably, probably to me,
probably the most important topic when it comes to China
or any other nation that are holding anybody away from their religious views.
President Trump is negotiating a trade deal with China.
How do you expect everything to shake out?
Well, I don't I don't expect much to tell you the truth.
They have never honored any deals, and I don't think they will in the future.
Well, I hope we don't give up too much concession.
I traditionally was trained and thought the tariffs were bad
and that free trade was the answer to all economic growth.
But I do wonder now, as we've lost so many jobs,
if there's some reason that the tariffs could be good for the country.
One of the things Trump is doing is negotiating with other countries
so that we have backup suppliers.
So I think that China may have to cooperate.
I'll be honest with you.
I don't trust anybody that has communism written over their foreheads, so to speak.
From what I can understand, it looks like China is really putting up
a false narrative as far as how they're doing right now.
To me, what I'm seeing is they're not
economically strong, as they like to say they are.
United States military is shifting its focus from Europe to the Indo-Pacific,
where the CCP has become increasingly aggressive.

Being a cowboy, I don't know anything different from when I was 34 years old.
I did tough things.
I thought everybody did tough things, and if you didn't, I didn't have time for it.
I had a very successful career at a very young age.
And life is fast.
I was preparing physically.
I wasn't doing anything mentally on the inside.
And then I got hurt.
I wanted to be better as a person.
And I really dug into mental health.
I start my day with 20 minute workouts.
I live life eight seconds at a time.

They're nervous.
You won't say it back, but we're pals.
I take a lot of responsibility in taking care of my kids, my family,
being there for them.
You're going to have tough days.
Everybody does.
Find a place to stop and just breathe.
Love your mind.
Hi, I'm Ryan Blaney, a third generation race car driver,
and we dedicate a lot of our time to going as fast as possible.
My grandpa Lou is the reason why my dad and I started racing,
and I'm really proud to follow in his tracks.
But when my grandpa was diagnosed with Alzheimer's,
it was a very unexpected bump in the road for us.
I've learned a lot on this journey with my grandpa Lou
and the memories of my grandpa will always be with me.
And in our family, we're used to getting involved.
And I encourage you to do the same,
especially when it comes to caring for your loved ones.
When I think about Alzheimer's and the impact it had on my family,
I recognize that losing a race isn't such a bad day after all.
It's important to notice
if older family members are acting differently,
experiencing problems with their memory or having trouble with routine tasks.
Talking about Alzheimer's can be really tough.
But if you notice something, have a conversation with your loved one.
Encourage them to see a doctor or offer to go with them.
Early detection of Alzheimer's
can give your family time to explore support services,
make a plan for the future and access available treatments.
If you or your family are noticing changes, it could be Alzheimer's.
Talk about seeing a doctor together.
I am so glad you ladies are here.
You each have your own rooms.
Thank you. Get settled in.
I'll call you for dinner.
Adopting teen sisters.
It's a lot. Girls, you're going to be late.
You want breakfast?
No, thanks. We're good.
They're always in their own world.
To get twice the work.
Twice the surprises.
Just try it.
But if you think of it that way,
they're also twice as fulfilling.
I think you should ask her.
Is it OK to call you mom?
Of course you can.
And welcome back to the Capitol Report.
I'm Steve Lance.
Newly released documents showing that more than 160 Republicans,
including several in the current Trump administration,
as well as in Congress, may have been investigated by the FBI
during former President Biden's term.
It's a probe being called Operation Arctic Frost.
Joining me to discuss is Bill Caruso with Archer Public Affairs
and Republican strategist Chet Love.
Great to have you both with us.
Chet, let's start with you.
This is a very concerning report, obviously, along with a curious trend
here we've seen from, you know, Operation now Arctic Frost,
Crossfire Hurricane.
The report shows that these investigators requested over
$16,000 in travel funds to conduct over 40 interviews.
What is your initial reaction to all this that we're learning?
This is just more of the same from the Democratic Party.
We've consistently seen again and again, Democrats misuse government
resources to attack their political opponents.
We've seen this in, again, 2022.
There's this Arctic Frost investigation where the government
wasted tons of resources, ended up with no substantive prosecutions
and simply was attacking and wasting government resources there.
Now you fast forward to what we're dealing with now with government shutdown.
Again, Democrats are misusing government resources and simply trying to attack
their political opponents while not bettering the American people.
The FBI should have been using these resources to protect
the American people in 2022.
The American people lost over $10 billion, a B, due to cybersecurity
cyber fraud, which is under the jurisdiction of the FBI.
And so what we saw, again, was Democrats attacking political
opponents instead of protecting the American people.
So it's obviously a concerning trend that we're seeing that sort of favors
the Democrats, whether it was Crossfire Hurricane, pre-bunking, you know,
that various Intel officials trying to pre-bunk the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Now this, what are your thoughts, particularly on Senator Grassley's
statement that says this investigation shows what he calls, quote, unchecked
government power at the highest level.
We'll see.
Um, you know, with all respect, Republicans had a majority in the
house and investigated the entire Hunter Biden scandal came up with a big nothing
burger we heard from Comer time and time and time again about smoking
guns that never were produced.
I'm troubled by this as an American, right?
Not as a partisan.
Um, I don't, you know, there's separation of powers.
Um, I'm not a big fan of lawfare.
Um, I think it's a stupid game that both parties have been playing and it
doesn't serve the American public, but you know, January 6th happened and the FBI
was looking at a lot of different things and they were investigating these things.
No one is above the law.
Now they may not have found anything.
That's great.
That's really good that that happened.
Now, there's something more here and the, and the Republican led Congress
now is going to investigate that and find something more and we should follow
the facts and see where it goes, but I'm not here to sit here and spike
a football now and say, Hey, because this investigation happened, it was a bad thing.
No, there were other things that led to this investigation that were the
reason why people were being looked at.
And I think there was some modicum of restraint shown.
For example, I read a report that Ted Cruz's phones were looked at, but
they weren't looking at content.
They were looking at time and who was called.
So let, let the Republicans investigate again.
Um, my, my friend here wants to talk about the government shutdown
and the waste of resources.
We agree, but I think, you know, endless investigations at congressional
level are also a waste of resources.
But if there's a, they're there, let's see where it is.
Well, I don't think this is going to be the last we hear of January 6th, either.
As certain things start to get uncovered, we're finding out more federal officials
on the ground than initially stated.
So, uh, indeed we're going to probably hear more on that front.
Uh, in the meantime, you mentioned the government shutdown bill.
Uh, we're now reaching day 29.
The Republican, uh, backed continuing resolution again, failing to reach
the 60 votes needed in the Senate.
This is actually prompting some Republicans to suggest changing the
filibuster, um, Senate majority leader.
John Thune has consistently defended the filibuster bill.
This is a move last pursued by Democrats during the Biden administration.
Um, do you believe, uh, that this could be a slippery slope?
Is this something that neither party should be pursuing or what are your thoughts?
I don't really care to be perfectly honest with you.
And I don't think most Americans, I think this is one of these things
has become this nuclear option that keeps getting talked about and
talked about and threatened about.
And at some point, somebody is going to pull the trigger.
I'll be honest with you as a Democrat.
I think this political malpractice by our party.
I think we should have passed the CR, the Biden era spending seat heart.
And I think we should have taken the Republicans to task for all the
things in the big, beautiful bill that aren't coming true, particularly
the healthcare issues that aren't for illegal aliens, therefore,
uh, American citizens that aren't able to pay healthcare bills.
But we're not having that debate right now because we're about to not be
able to feed America because SNAP benefits are gone through.
I think we've lost the narrative here.
I hope the shutdown ends, but I think there's bipartisan support
to get to an answer on healthcare.
And it's not sending more money to insurance companies, by the way.
It's, it's getting down to the nitty gritty facts and figuring out how we
save the ACA and make it work for Americans, but that conversation
isn't happening right now.
We're, we're, we're playing political football back and forth over who's
going to blink first in Congress.
Chad, who is going to blink first?
And several Republican members of Congress have told the Epoch times,
our sister media, that they're not on board with the idea of, uh, you
know, getting rid of the filibuster.
But realistically, um, where do you see everything going?
I think the American people need to understand first and foremost,
government shutdown should not be a reality in America.
The federal government should be passing a budget.
We have not had a budget in this country in the last 30 years, and
everyone should be jumping up and down and screaming about that.
And if we need to get rid of the filibuster in order to Congress to
actually take votes and pass a budget, then I'm all for it.
I think that it's ridiculous that we have so many Americans who have
their lives turned upside down again, over political gamesmanship.
This is like WWE wrestling, but it has real impacts on real
Americans in their day-to-day lives.
Most people don't care about the politics.
They just want the policies that are going to deliver for them.
And like my colleague talked about, we should be having real
conversations about healthcare, real conversations about how we're
going to actually help everyday Americans, but also how we're
going to pay for that.
And I think that's been the real issue that we need to think about
in terms of a budget and in terms of the national debt.
But I think in terms of this government shutdown and in terms
of the filibuster, we've already gotten rid of it for judges.
So it's in place today simply for these bills.
And I think we should just, again, kill the filibuster and get to the
work of protecting and helping the American people.
Lastly, Trump 2028.
He was asked about it on Air Force One.
Let's have a look.
So we have the greatest economy we've ever had.
I have my highest poll numbers that I've ever had, based on what I read.
President appearing to acknowledge that he isn't allowed to run despite
the Trump 2028 hat that he has in the Oval Office from time to
time, handing out to folks.
Bill, what do you think Republicans are going to do in 2028?
They're going to run.
I mean, I've always said that the biggest impediment to Donald Trump
running for another term is going to be the Republicans that want to
succeed him, that they're not going to allow this.
I think as Democrats, we've got to be a little bit more reserved here.
You know, America's pastime, we've got the World Series going on.
One thing you learn in a baseball game is you don't swing at every pitch.
We've got to let some of these go by.
You know, he's playing games, whatever he's doing.
This is probably not a serious substantive conversation.
And, you know, let the Republican primary take shape and see what's going to happen.
And we need to figure out who our nominee is going to be.
That's where we need to be focused.
That's for sure.
Chet, what is next for President Trump after his presidency?
And, you know, he's offered up a potential Rubio Vance ticket.
That could be interesting to see who gets the top of it.
Where do you see the Republicans headed the next cycle?
Well, I think we all see it's very clear Republicans are going to win.
And the real legacy for President Trump is to ensure that he has a presidential
win following his in the end of his term.
And quite frankly, Democrats are struggling.
My colleague here is probably the most adult that you've heard
of all the Democrats on television.
Instead, they've been running around to these no Kings rallies and trying to
push this same tired narrative that you hear again and again, talking about
Republicans are fascists and Republicans don't believe in democracy, etc.
We saw it under Reagan.
We saw it under Bush.
And again, they're reviving it again to try to tread that out to
attract President Trump.
Democrats don't have a message.
Their entire message for the last 16 years has been defeat Donald Trump.
So I think Democrats are going to actually have a very difficult time in
competing against Republicans when they actually have to come out with policies
and ideas versus just attacking President Trump.
Bill Caruso, Chet Love, thank you both for coming on.
We greatly appreciate your insights.
Coming up, George Soros is Open Society Foundation's funding groups
tied to terrorism and extreme violence to the tune of 80 million dollars.
Is that true?

Don't wait. Call now to find out about our Medicare plan.
Why do we have to sit through so many Medicare commercials this time of year?
It's endless.
Good question, Edith.
I'm glad you asked.
We see so many commercials this time of year because it's the only time other
than special circumstances when Medicare recipients can change their plan for
Part C. Original Medicare only covers Parts A and B, but a Medicare Advantage
plan has additional benefits that Original Medicare doesn't offer.
So now's the time to fill those spaces?
That's right, Archie. And every year there are changes to what benefits you may
receive from your Part C plan.

And welcome back to the Capitol Report.
I'm Steve Lance.
A new report shows that George Soros's Open Society Foundations have poured more
than $80 million into groups potentially tied to terrorism or extreme violence.
To discuss the investigations, I had a chance to speak with Ryan Morrow,
investigative researcher for Capitol Research Center.
Ryan Morrow, thanks so much for joining.
Thank you for having me.
It's great to have you with us, Ryan.
You've done a ton of research.
You wrote that since 2016, George Soros's Open Society Foundations, now being run
by his son, has poured $80 million into groups tied to terrorism or extreme
violence. It's really hard to believe.
Walk us through what you've found and some of the patterns that have stood out.
Well, it's based on his own records, and they even say on their website for his
foundations that they only disclose the grants when they feel it's safe to do so
for the grantees and themselves.
So this is the stuff that they're comfortable releasing that I went through.
So raise the question of what is it that they're hiding since they're obviously
hiding something. But basically, I went through as many of the grants I possibly
could find and reviewed the groups because many of them had names that were not well
known. And I looked at what they did and what they said.
And that's how I came up with the figure of over $80 million that I tracked since
2016, going to pro-terrorism groups that includes groups that are linked to foreign
terrorist organizations in places like Gaza.
And it also includes about $23 million that went to at least seven groups that quite
blatantly facilitate, encourage or somehow making rioting and criminal activity and
violent property destruction happened on U.S.
soil, which meets the FBI's definition of terrorism.
What are they ultimately trying to achieve?
Well, each group has a different agenda, and in fairness to Soros, there is money that
goes to groups that are protesting Russia and China and Iran.
So there's a lack of consistency among those that receive money from Soros and the
Open Society Foundations.
And I was looking narrowly just at the ones connected to terrorism or who very blatantly
supported terrorism. And of those, they are sometimes called social justice groups and
people call them far left. They're not really.
I mean, when you're advocating for the Iranian regime and Hamas and the Marxist
counterpart to Hamas, which advocates theocracy, the Marxist counterpart advocates
communism, I would not consider those to be progressive ideologies or liberal.
And so you have these kind of seditious elements that under the guise of social
justice have been able to creep in there.
And then it raises the question of just how much does Soros and the Open Society
Foundations know about the people that they that they're giving money to?
They've been confronted in the past about some of those grants and they just deny it.
They dismiss evidence against them.
So that's an indication that they do know.
But but it could also just be that they're arrogant and incredibly incompetent.
But neither scenario, whether it's full complicity or its complicity through
negligence, is something they're willing to admit.
Now, some of the donors that you've identified are described as anti-Israel,
anti-American.
How could this funding network act as a destabilizing force on traditional American
culture or does it?
So the threshold that I had for inclusion was incredibly high.
I did not include anti-Semitic groups.
I did not include anti-American groups.
It was solely connected to terrorism or advocacy for terrorism or overall aligning
with pro-terror groups and overlapping.
So this is the highest bar.
So the real number of is definitely far beyond 80 million.
If you want to include essentially hate groups, anti-American hate groups, but but
they poison American civil society, Western civil society through their propaganda,
through pushing anti-Semitic stereotypes, through any time you advocate for the
Russian, Iranian, Chinese governments, you're poisoning civil society with lies and
anti-democratic sentiment that violate the principles of tolerance and progressivism
that liberals are supposed to uphold.
And so there's the terrorist threat, but there's also the threat to the culture and
the health of the American civil society, because if our dialogue and our national
narratives are dominated by propaganda from entities that hate Jews and hate the
U.S. and what it stands for, we cannot function properly.
I mean, you want to destroy America.
You attack its civil society.
You're not going to beat it militarily.
Now, whether it is willful ignorance or perhaps negligence or, you know, a combination
thereof, what it sounds like is this philanthropy, the Open Society, George Soros's
society is being used as a shield, allowing these organizations to disguise where their
funding really goes while still while maintaining tax exempt status.
Even when you comply with the law, there's not a lot you have to disclose publicly.
And the IRS is not allowed to just randomly investigate groups just because they
disagree with an opinion.
They need evidence of criminality.
And how do you get the evidence of criminality when the public can't see evidence of
criminality? You don't have to disclose those types of indications.
And so it provides a lot of protection.
But then there's another strategy that some of them use.
You can be a fiscal sponsor.
And what that means is you don't even have to have your own nonprofit entity registered
with the mandatory disclosures, which, again, are minimal.
You can avoid even those.
If you have another nonprofit loan, it's nonprofit status to you and handle your
donations for you and they become your fiscal sponsor.
Brian Morrow, investigative researcher at Capital Research Center, greatly appreciate
you joining us. Thanks so much for having me.
If you've ever felt your heart racing or your palms sweating, you know our emotions
have an effect on our body.
Our beliefs and our emotions shape our biology in real time.
For example, stress and grief can induce cardiomyopathy, more commonly known as a
broken heart, and fixating on illness may unwittingly invite it.
One study found that women who believed they were prone to heart disease were nearly
four times more likely to die from it than those who didn't.
But diet, nutrition, gentle movement and emotional support can reverse a myriad of
medical conditions, suggesting that nurturing our hearts and minds is just as
critical as nurturing our physical bodies.
Some practical ways to harness your body's healing power include saying a kind word to
yourself, acknowledging your emotions or even shifting your perspective.
