President Donald Trump is putting fraudsters on notice, unveiling a new $25 million whistleblower program for reporting fraud. The president also vows to spend around $400 million to elect Republicans in the midterms.
The Social Security Administration conducts its most comprehensive database cleanup in history as it adds dates of death and citizenship information to tens of millions of files as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to combat fraud in the benefits program.
A Guatemalan man who was involved in the 2022 San Antonio human smuggling operation that resulted in the deaths of 53 individuals was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Welcome to NTD Evening News.

incentive program from the Oval Office.
Whistleblowers could get 1% of the taxpayer
money recovered through fraud tips.
And the Social Security Administration conducts its
most comprehensive database cleanup in history,
updating tens of millions of files. What they're
updating and how it contributes to crackdown on fraud.

responsible for the smuggling deaths of 53
of his own countrymen gets a 30-year sentence,
Marlene Richards reports.

Fiona Gha has the midterm update.
This is NTD Evening News,
live from our global headquarters
in New York City. Here's Carrie Dunst.
Good evening and thank you for joining us tonight.
The White House is taking a new approach
to tackling government waste, paying Americans
for exposing fraud.
NTD's Washington correspondent Jack Bradley
now joins us live.
Jack, what's the president announcing today?
Well, Carrie, the Trump administration
is offering cash rewards for tips
that expose taxpayer fraud.
Now, President Trump and Vice President Vance
from the Oval Office today announcing
what's being called
the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program.
It will allow those who uncover fraud
and report it to the Justice Department
to receive 1% of the amount of the taxpayer money
that's been recovered.
Take a look. If anybody turns anybody in a billion dollars,
$5 billion, $100 billion, you get a 1% commission.
So since I came into office,
we've already uncovered $260 billion of fraud.
Tax dollars are being stolen from programs that
help feed the needy, that help ensure that a young mom
who can't afford a doctor can get
access to a doctor for her kids.
People were getting bribed, moms were getting bribed $1,500
a kid to lie that their child had autism.
And Dr. Oz there, the CMS administrator,
also announcing from the Oval Office
that they're now withholding $1.2 billion in federal Medicaid
funding to California over what he calls
the impossible growth in spending on personal care
services. Take a look. The growth of personal care services
in California, just that one little area
where you're paying someone to carry groceries upstairs
for your mom. California has been
growing that program 24% in the last three years.
That is twice the rate of every other state
average in the country. Impossible.
Independent journalist Nick Shirley was also present at the
White House. Being given a cash reward
for his work exposing fraud in Minnesota,
Shirley went viral last year after publishing this video,
among several others, exposing alleged
fraud at Somali-run daycare centers.
White House officials say that his reporting led to a number
of new federal investigations and cases,
including the guilty plea of the CEO
of the Future Leaders Early Learning Center.
Take a look.
When I expose fraud, instead of the mainstream media
investigating the fraud, they investigated me.
These fraudsters take from the poor and needy
who actually need the services
that we all work hard to pay for,
and we take that, and they then buy Mercedes.
They then send that money overseas.
Americans with information about fraudsters
can send tips for a potential reward to fraud.gov.
All right, Jack, and President Trump
also weighing in on the war in Ukraine.
He's saying that the ball is in Zelensky's court.
What's the president saying about a potential deal,
and why does he believe Ukraine may be running out of time?
That's right, Carrie.
President Trump says ending the war now comes down
to whether Ukrainian President Zelensky
is willing to make a deal.
Trump's warning that the longer Zelensky holds out,
the less favorable the terms could become for Ukraine. Here he is.
We want Zelensky to make a deal. He can make a deal.
He could have made a deal two years ago
when we had our little chat in the Oval Office.
He could have made a much better deal then,
probably, possibly, that he can make now.
But he's going to have to want to make a deal
because I don't think his people are going to stand for it any longer.
Now, this comes after repeated attempts
for President Trump to get both Ukrainian President
Zelensky and Russia's Putin
to stop striking each other's energy infrastructure. Repeated
attempts that have not gone well, at least on the Ukrainian side.
President Trump is set to speak
in Greenville, North Carolina tonight,
part of his midterm campaign blitz. He's announcing today
also that he'll spend $400 million for the midterms,
which are now less than two weeks away.
All right. Thank you, Jack.
And the Social Security Administration says it has
corrected tens of millions of its files in its database cleanup.
This comes as part of the Trump administration's effort
to prevent fraud in the benefits program.
The SSA has added 17 million dates of death
to records that previously lacked this information.
It has also updated around 25 million records
that previously had missing citizenship information.
After receiving data from DHS, combined,
those changes mean that the agency has corrected records
for nearly 15 percent of all active Social Security numbers.
Now, the SSA says this is
the most comprehensive cleanup in its 91-year history.
The agency is currently in the process
of correcting an additional 8.5 million records
that have inaccurate citizenship status. SSA
Commissioner Frank Vizzignano commenting, quote,
accurate Social Security and records or SSN
records, prevent fraud across federal programs,
and support the proper administration of benefits
that the SSA has undertaken in an effort of this scale.
And an alien smuggler sentenced in Texas.
Federal Guatemalan officials have said
that joining today at a press conference minutes
after a Guatemalan man was sentenced
for his involvement in the 2022 mass casualty smuggling
event that happened
in San Antonio, Arlene Richards has more U.S. and Guatemalan
officials gathering on Tuesday to announce
the sentencing of a human smuggler we're here today
to announce the 360 month sentence ordered today
by Judge Garcia against Rigoberto
Miranda Orozco, Miranda Orozco was part
of the alien smuggling organization that was responsible
for the deaths of 53 illegal aliens in San Antonio back
in June 22 aliens who died in the back of a
tractor trailer in the sweltering Texas heat
in June of 2022 law enforcement was called out to
what appeared to be an abandoned trailer
on the west side of San Antonio but what they found were
the remains of 53 illegal aliens Simmons says
the extreme heat lack of air conditioning and proper
ventilation led to them basically cooking to death.
Of the 53 who died, 32 were from Mexico
and Honduras, 21 were Guatemalans.
Rigoberto Miranda Orozco was extradited from Guatemala
to the United States in 2022.
He confessed to working with other human smugglers to transport
four illegal immigrants from Guatemala to the United States.
The evidence in this case showed
that each alien that died in this case,
and even the ones that didn't die, paid $12,000 to $15,000
apiece to come across.
If you do the math, millions of aliens enter in the United States
over that four-year period equals billions of dollars to the cartels.
He says the cartels use
the money to terrorize their countrymen,
but they also use it to move thousands of kilos of dangerous
drugs into the United States, including deadly drugs like fentanyl.
He cautioned others to think
twice before paying to come to the U.S.
Don't trust your life to these people
because they simply do not care about your life.
They do not care about your hopes and dreams.
They only care about your money.
At the sentencing hearing this morning,
the judge really focused in on the fact that
right after this event occurred in June of 22, within a couple weeks,
this defendant was already setting up trips for other aliens.
Simmons thanked the Guatemalan Attorney General
who attended the conference
for partnering with them to bring Miranda Orozco to justice,
as well as President Trump and U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche
for their leadership in essentially shutting down the border.
Arlene Richards, NTD News.
French officials want the military to replace police officers
to combat nationwide riots and violence.
This as the country is preparing for yet another weekend of unrest.
NTD's international correspondent, Aaron Pasdar, has the latest.
French police is seen enforcing
a nightly curfew in cities across the country.
The measure applies to three categories of people.
Unaccompanied minors, people using personal protective equipment
and those concealing their faces.
This move comes after violence took control
of multiple French cities over the weekend.
French officials are already preparing for another weekend of unrest,
with the interior minister now proposing to replace police officers.
We will deploy military forces, obviously,
in order to free up police officers to carry out public order duties.
The Prime Minister wants to deploy the military sentinel soldiers,
which act as a deterrent and a first line of defense.
They're sometimes used in times of civil unrest.
Police arrested over 2,000 rioters over the weekend.
Hundreds of them appeared before court on Tuesday.
In Paris alone, four courtrooms
and a courthouse were being used for hearings linked to the riots.
President Trump blames illegal immigration for the chaos in France.
President, France has free healthcare, free childcare,
a 35-hour work week and five weeks paid vacation.
Despite all that, people are looting
and burning down parts of their cities.
Do you think spending a little more on education is going to stop this?
No, it's not about education. It's about immigration.
about illegal people coming in who basically hate France,
they hate the people, they hate everything.
They hate the architecture.
You saw the building from the mid-1800s that fell down yesterday,
that burned down to the ground.
French officials already said
that far-left extremist groups are behind the violence.
And a new Fox News investigation published
on Tuesday found that 54 organizations,
including communists and labor unions, are behind the chaos.
And an investigation shows that a network
of communist groups is facilitating the riots
in France.
What are the motives behind the unrest?
Tune in for analysis tonight on Capitol Report
with Steve Lance at 7 p.m. Eastern.
And next, the State Department has issued
an alert to Americans in France after that
weekend of violent protests.
Partial curfews are in effect in several cities,
including the city of Lille in northern France,
with additional restrictions possible in Paris.
The U.S. Embassy in Paris now advising Americans
to avoid demonstration areas
and they should exercise caution if they encounter large gatherings.
The embassy also recommends checking public transport updates
as well as flight schedules
and monitoring the local news for any new restrictions,
as well as allowing extra time when they're planning to travel.
And Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in Ohio today,
in an effort to get warfighters the equipment
that they need before they need it.
Hegseth also made an unannounced trip to Israel,
where he met with the country's prime
minister over the situation with Iran.
And Didi's Jason Perry has the details.
We're rebuilding our military with the best equipment and leadership
to ensure that our warfighters have every advantage
and they're never in a fair fight.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth speaking in Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday
during the Department of War's Arsenal of Freedom Tour.
The tour aims to highlight the urgent need
to rebuild America's defense industrial base,
which the Pentagon says is linked to national security.
Speaking to employees of the Sierra Nevada Corporation,
Hegseth says their expertise
and efforts help expand America's defense industrial base
and, quote, ensure absolute dominance.
For example, during the height of the
insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan,
our troops faced, as you know,
an asymmetric threat from improvised explosive devices, IEDs.
Moving at the speed of those conflicts,
SNC rapidly developed life-saving devices to counter
and disable roadside bombs, roadside IEDs,
scaling from early R&D to active production in just
two years. Hegseth explains
that process would normally take about 10 years,
and that he's doing what he can at the Pentagon to speed up the process
so that warfighters get what they need before they need it.
Hegseth also made an unannounced visit to Israel the day before.
Senior Israeli security officials tell Epic Magazine Israel
that Hegseth met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
to discuss tensions with Iran.
Netanyahu saying this on Tuesday.
I am personally committed to finishing the job.
Finishing the job means toppling the terrorist regime in Iran.
As long as this regime survives, even if battered, bruised, and beaten,
its fanatical nature will drive it
to attempt once again what it tried a year ago,
developing nuclear bombs and rebuilding the Axis.
The Axis, meaning Iran's proxy terrorist groups across the Middle East.
Jason Perry, NTD News.

Welcome back to NTD Evening News. I'm Cary Dunst.
President Trump is announcing $8 billion in relief for American farmers
to help address the rising diesel costs,
which is hitting right during their harvest season.
President speaking yesterday alongside
a senator from Kansas, Dr. Roger Marshall.
Tonight, I'm also pleased to announce
that the Department of Agriculture
will be launching a new harvest fuel relief program
providing our farmers with $8 billion in support
to offset diesel costs during this harvest season.
And Roger Marshall is the leader who fought for that to happen.
Roger got it to happen. Good job, Roger.
The Harvest Fuel Relief Program will provide one-time payments
to help offset the higher input costs
and the temporary market disruptors.
The program will use a formula which is based on planted acres,
production costs, yields,
and prices, and that'll help to calculate payments
for these eligible producers.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says
the $8 billion investment is intended to provide
certainty for farmers during the harvest.
The USDA says payment rates for major eligible
crops will be released in November,
with details for other commodities to follow.
And Texas sees high voter turnout after early voting started
in the state yesterday.
As a Republican, Ken Paxton
is running against Democrat James Tallarico for that U.S. Senate seat.
Meanwhile, Democratic strategist James Carville, he gives his take
on the midterms and U.S. Senate nominees debate in Kentucky.
We have NTD's Fiona Gee with a midterm update.
Early voting in Texas started on Monday
and voter turnout is already breaking county records.
According to the Dallas County Elections Department,
a preliminary number of over 76,000 voters
in the county have already cast their ballot.
That's almost 20,000 more voters than the first day
of early voting in 2024 and almost 44,000 more than back in 2022.
And that's a trend we're seeing across the country.
According to voting data,
over 10 million Americans have already cast their midterm ballot.
That number is expected to climb
as five more states begin early voting Tuesday.
Those are Hawaii, Louisiana, Missouri, Utah, and Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, Kentucky saw its only scheduled
U.S. Senate debate Monday evening.
That's an open race between Republican Andy Barr
and Democrat Charles Booker to replace Senator Mitch McConnell.
When I am the next U.S. Senator for the Commonwealth of Kentucky,
I will work to bring down prices to put more money in your pocket.
My opponent would support massive increases in spending,
including just one item of a socialist agenda,
Medicare for all, which would cost $32 trillion.
Over the weekend, longtime Democratic strategist James Carville
also weighed in on the socialism debate.
On the Bulwark on Sunday podcast hosted by Bill Kristol, Carville says
he'd rather see a Republican victory than a DSA-led Democratic Party.
I would rather the Republicans keep the House
by five than the Democrats win by five.
Because if that happens, they're hostage to the DSA.
Carville has been outspoken against the rise
of DSA ideology within the Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, President Trump posts on Truth Social that he will spend
over $400 million by Election Day to boost Republican prospects.
The money will be spent on, quote, advertising,
direct and indirect voter contact, rallies, rally arenas,
tele-rallies, get-out-the-vote programs, election integrity and more.
We are in the final sprint of this midterm season.
At this point, for both parties, it's all about getting out the vote.
President Trump is returning to Texas next week
for two rallies back-to-back to mobilize voters,
and this is on top of his already very busy rallying schedule.
Reporting from Washington, D.C., Fiona Gee, NTD News.
Thank you, Fiona.
And in Michigan's Senate race, Republican nominee Mike Rogers,
he says his Democratic opponent, Abdul El-Sayed,
is losing support among voters who usually back his party.
He was speaking on Fox News.
We should be listening to the people who know him best.
The chairman, the past chairman of the Democrat Party in Michigan,
just came out this week and said, I can't support Abdul El-Sayed.
The finance, yeah. The finance chairman of Alyssa Slotkin's campaign,
the finance chairman,
came out this week and said, I can't support Abdul El-Sayed.
We are into non-traditional
Republican coalitions like I've never seen before.
It is shifting the landscape in a huge way. The
reason he climbs on a bus and goes up north,
he can't go into southeast Michigan. Those folks are,
and by the way, they're not turning to Republicans,
but they're open to Republicans,
and many of them are taking Rodgers for Democrat signs,
putting them in the yard,
saying, I'm voting for Mike Rogers.
At a town hall last night, Rodgers named two groups.
He said dozens of black pastors
and neighborhood leaders in Detroit have told his campaign they
want to change. He also cited Michigan's roughly
70,000 Jewish Democrats, saying many are uneasy
with El-Sayed's criticism of Israel.
Rodgers believes half of them could vote for him.
Former President Barack Obama is set to campaign
with El-Sayed in Detroit on Saturday.
With control of the Senate at stake,
both campaigns are competing hard for Michigan's swing voters.
And a potential buyer looking to spur growth in downtown San Francisco.
Could a data center be built into a vacant shopping mall?
NTV's David Lam has more.
After being shuttered for months, the shopping center behind me
in San Francisco could be turned into an AI data center.
KG Growth Partners, a Maryland-based firm working
with an unnamed AI lab, is showing interest in the downtown SF Center.
The firm has inquired about permits
to convert the former Bloomingdale's space.
I think that it's disappointing because I feel like San Francisco
and most major American cities,
you really need that third space where you can just
be and maybe feel a sense of community where it's not, you know,
everything's eaten up by big tech or AI.
The mall has been closed since January,
citing a change in people's shopping habits.
I think a lot of it is, you know, Amazon,
of course. It's the convenience of shopping from home
and online and the next day delivery.
KG Growth Partners says the project
is different than a regular data center.
Technology operations would be upstairs
and public spaces would be open on the lower floors.
It's really sad to watch it slowly die as I was a shopper there
when it first opened as a teen.
And coming to Market Street growing up
in San Francisco was like a treat.
You know, you would go back to school shopping or the holidays.
And now it's just like shuttered up like all
the other storefronts out here.
The potential buyer has not submitted any permit applications
as the proposal is still in its initial stage.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie says that there's
a 45-day moratorium on AI data centers being built in San Francisco.
David Lam, NTD News.
And coming up, France will deploy the military
to reinforce police forces for the upcoming Saturday protests.
But who's behind the violence and what lesson can the U.S. learn?
We have the discussion.
And Secretary of State Marco Rubio is in India
with Ukraine interceptors and Venezuelan oil on the agenda.
He's also addressing some rumors.
It's time for the nation to decide.

Welcome back to NTD Evening News.
I'm Cary Dunst.
After another weekend of escalated violence
in France from large-scale nationwide protests,
The country now bracing for more this weekend.
Joining us now is Todd Benzman.
He's senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
Previously, he served the Trump administration
as senior advisor to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,
including to the ICE director and Border czar, Tom Homan.
Todd, thanks for joining.
President Trump attributes these riots
to communists and illegal immigrants.
He's saying France and other European countries
should immediately close their borders.
I want to get your views on that relationship
between illegal immigration and these riots.
Sure. Well, it is a confusing grouping of different kinds of categories
of people that have gotten involved in this, trying to exploit it.
It did start with immigrants, with the children of immigrants,
first, second and third generations living in these communities
with the schools and the complaints about the schools.
But it has definitely expanded to a whole litany of other issues
to include, for example, the fact that state law requires
no showing of cultural symbols or Islamic symbols at school.
extreme anger and frustration over that,
and also a heavy-handed police presence in these
neighborhoods where the Islamic Muslims
and the children of them are involved in the drug trade
and gangs, a lot of violence, a lot of theft,
and they want those police moved out and to
take their tech with them.
There are people that are still coming over the border. Those people,
I think, are not involved in this.
They keep them separately. They live in different areas,
different facilities.
So I don't really agree with the president's contention that these are
brand new border crossing immigrants, illegals coming over the border.
They're going to be the
more established ones with their beefs and issues.
And Todd, you have spent a lot of time in Europe
investigating mass migration, both legal and illegal.
Can you explain the different forms
of migration into Europe,
particularly Western Europe and its potential role here?
In recent years, especially the last 10 years,
it's almost all been illegal immigration,
forcing themselves over the border.
The French government, the German government,
10 years ago, said, yeah, we're going to let them all in.
We're an empathetic government.
We're going to let people in until terrorist attacks started up.
And you started having,
you know, bloody mayhem from one end of the continent
to the other. They closed the borders.
They got together the EU countries
and managed to shut down a lot of that illegal immigration.
But starting in about 2023, 2024,
one or two of the countries elected liberal governments that were,
again, the empathy, the empathetic virtue signaling
and started letting them in, Slovenia primarily,
Austria as well, and they just started pulsating through again.
So I think a lot of the people that are involved
in this might be more recent immigrants who
crossed the border.
But they've got horrible backlogs on their asylum.
They're not deporting them quickly.
Very tiny percentages of people that don't get asylum
are left to stay there and fester.
And I think a lot of that is true.
I don't think it's happening right now
with very recent border crossers.
And you mentioned just now it's not the recent border crossers,
it's those who've already come in illegally. So for them,
is this an issue of ideology, failure to assimilate, lack of jobs?
What's causing them to go really AWOL and commit violence and looting?
I mean, I think some of they
do have it started out with legitimate complaints.
They're trying to keep it
with those original complaints about the schools.
You know, they've got a fiscal crisis.
They've never really invested heavily in the schools
in and around these migrant communities.
They're kind of low income housing, subsidized housing,
very overcrowded from all of the illegal immigration.
And I do think that there is an assimilation problem.
those communities do not tend to assimilate.
They maintain their ways from generation to
generation and are not really assimilating very well
into French society. That's a complaint
that you heard long before this.
And so you have, you know, crime and, you know, some Sharia law
activity and you have forced militarized policing going
on to kind of keep a lid on things.
But that lid is popped off now for sure.
And when you dig into the ideology, we've heard a lot about
this red-green alliance in relation to the riots.
That's communists and radical Islam whose values
seem very opposite each other when you start to look at it.
But here it seems like they're
pairing together. So where does immigration fit
into that red-green alliance? Yes, that is
definitely true. It's here in the United States.
It's all through Europe, the red-green alliance,
the far left, progressive liberals, communists,
socialists have found common cause with Muslims,
with Muslim immigrants, with all of their causes,
anti-Israel, anti-Semitism, and all of that,
Uh, because, uh,
it dates back to the late 1960s when the PLO reached out and started
training and some of the, you know, uh,
the Western, uh, German, uh, domestic terror groups
also, you know,
linked up with the PLO and it's just kind of has generationally, uh,
lived on into the present time.
It's just one of those things
that it doesn't make any sense because, uh, you know,
if you're you know queer for Palestine uh
and you go to Palestine uh as a gay person uh bad things
are going to happen to you so uh
but you know they just deny that or explain it away uh these are
very illiberal uh countries that the muslim immigrants
are coming from uh so you know your
guess is as good as mine as to the logic uh
that in reasoning that goes into the this thinking on
especially on the red side.
But the green side, they'll take anyone they can get. And I think
that they're finding that that side of the aisle,
they're a bunch of useful idiots for their causes.
Yeah, the useful idiots, of course,
a big component of Marxist ideology and how to turn
sort of passive people into doing things
that are useful to those who are trying to usurp power.
Now, it's hard to see how opportunists could exploit the disorder,
but French President Macron,
he is blaming the far left groups for the riots.
So what is the far left's role being that,
you know, there were students
and immigrants that you said make up the mainstay of the protests?
Well, you started really seeing violence, riots
by what we call anarchists or Antifa and using black block tactics,
which is if you see the guys that are like dressed
from head to toe in black, that's black block tactics.
you can't identify the perpetrators,
and they feel more emboldened to go out and commit these
kind of crimes, arson and looting and the rest of that.
We saw that exact thing happen here in the
United States in 2020 for seven or eight months straight.
Riots and looting on the left, black
block led, but there were plenty of regular leftists
that are not anarchists that joined in
happily, uh, who were probably more motivated by a profit motive.
Uh, there are, they're looting
stores. They're, you know, stealing merchandise.
I mean, if you're really not interested in
materialism, why are you stealing Gucci handbags,
uh, you know, from, from the fancy sack stores
or whatever. So, uh,
I think that it's grown beyond the black bloc beyond Antifa to just
regular uh people who are taking advantage
and exploiting uh the chaos yeah and as we have about
30 seconds left i'd love for you to comment
on what lessons you think american take from what
we're seeing over in france and starting to spread
to other parts of europe well i mentioned 2020 the
riots we had here and i think it's generally agreed
that those riots were uh perpetrated by
orders the police to stand down, to disengage,
to not quell riots and looting. And we just saw
that happen throughout France.
The police started to take a heavier hand, but there was definitely
a break going on. There was a foot on the brake.
And now I think you're starting to see the results
of that, it's just going to keep going
and going until you call out the military, which I think
they're about to do now, or they're preparing
to really put the crack down. The point is, is that
if you allow this kind of misbehavior and disorder in the streets,
it will continue and get worse and
worse until you finally decide you're not going
to put up with it anymore. And I think that's the
lesson. You can't put up with it. You've got to crack down.
I'm sorry if it's politically unpopular
or get you in trouble in the upcoming elections.
France has an election coming up, but, you know, this can't go on.
Yeah, well, Todd Bensman, so many great points
in breaking down what is actually happening over there.
Thank you so much for joining us.
Thanks for having me.
And a ban on China's superintelligence model, DeepSeek,
expands to include non-military federal agencies.
The move was publicly announced on Monday,
but has been in effect since July.
We have NTD's correspondent Jason Blair with the details.
Last December, Congress banned China's DeepSeek from Pentagon
and intelligence community systems in the annual defense bill.
Now that ban has expanded to include civilian government agencies.
Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wayne
Mullen signed the order on July 24th.
The announcement was just made public on Monday.
DHS says DeepSeek servers are in China
and it warns that using the app, quote,
may result in the transfer of sensitive data to the PRC.
China's Commerce Ministry says it firmly opposes the order.
The Chinese Communist Party has a long history
of using superintelligence models for malicious means.
In September, Anthropic announced that users linked
to the Chinese regime used its AI model,
Claude, to build profiles of overseas dissidents and religious groups.
Targets included Tibetan Buddhists, Catholic cardinals in Asia,
Presbyterian church leaders in Taiwan, and practitioners of Falun Gong.
In a statement, Anthropic wrote,
We banned the cluster of accounts responsible for this activity
and enhanced our detections to disrupt
and reduce the risk of future misuse.
Anthropic says the users combed Chinese
and Western platforms for birth dates,
birthplaces, immigration dates, and social media profiles.
In March, a House Homeland Security Subcommittee held a hearing
on the national security concerns of DeepSeek.
And DeepSeek is not just a competitive concern.
It is also a data and influence concern sitting
on millions of American devices.
Every interaction is stored on servers located
in the People's Republic of China,
where authorities can demand access to that data under Chinese law.
Rep John Moolenaar, chairman of the House Committee on China,
backed the move, saying DeepSeek is a dangerous AI model
that has no place in the federal government
and the Trump administration is right to put
these common sense AI guardrails in place.
The ban was effective immediately when signed in July.
Reporting in Washington, D.C., Jason Blair, NTD News.
And diplomacy in Mumbai.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio began a two-day visit to India today.
Speaking to reporters,
he said much of the recent coverage of U.S. support for Ukraine
has been inaccurate.
Rubio pushed back on accusations that President Trump
cut off intelligence sharing with Ukraine,
saying the president wants a negotiated end to the war
and he is not trying to harm Kyiv.
Even this talk about, I think on the 13th and again on the 18th,
there were airstrikes in Ukraine that were not detected.
That is not because America did not provide information.
I saw somebody associated with the Ukrainian government say
that people in Ukraine are dying
because the U.S. is denying them information.
That's scandalous. That's outrageous. That's just simply not true.
That's not accurate.
Among others, one of the reasons why this war needs
to end is because too many people are dying.
One of the reasons why this war needs
to end is because Ukraine's electric grid
is being devastated. One of the reasons this war needs
to end is because every month 20,000 or 25,000
Russians are slaughtered as they try to advance in Ukraine.
All of these are bad.
Rubio says Zelensky has been trying
to buy air defense interceptors, and Rubio
called them the most in-demand product in the defense field,
with Saudi Arabia and Israel
and the U.S. all seeking them as well.
On another topic, Rubio also says India could play a key role
and bringing more Venezuelan oil to the market.
I think what a lot of people have become experts
in the energy field over the last few months,
just learning because of these conflicts,
refining capability is a key part of it.
And India is a refining superpower.
And they have the ability to do that.
They have companies that know how to do that.
They also, by the way, have pre-existing oil concessions in Venezuela
that can produce more themselves.
So all these are positive things.
And I'm not claiming to you that Venezuela alone can fill the hole
that could be caused by some of the things
that are happening around the world.
But I think over time, it most certainly can.
And in the short term, it can certainly provide relief.
And tomorrow, Rubio meets with Reliance Industries.
That company runs the world's
largest refining complex
and is chaired by billionaire Mukesh Ambani. The visit comes
as the two countries near a trade deal
that officials say is almost complete. Last week,
President Trump waived potential tariffs tied
to India's purchases of Russian oil. And Rubio said
the trade talks were a factor,
and he said that India has been diversifying its energy sources.
And Britain is sending fighter jets to help protect Saudi cities
and critical infrastructure
from attacks by the Houthi terrorist group.
Britain's defense minister announcing the
deployment following a request from Saudi Arabia.
Britain will also deploy a transport plane
and military advisors.
The additional support comes after Britain announced last month it
would provide assistance including an air-to-air refueling aircraft
but not fighter jets. Houthi
attacks against Saudi oil facilities
and other infrastructure have intensified in recent weeks
as this conflict in Yemen escalates.
Yemeni authorities said yesterday that a Houthi strike
on a training camp for Saudi-backed government forces killed 73 people.
And just ahead of the
midterms, the Trump administration has
been escalating its efforts to stop non-citizens
from voting in federal elections.
Are everyday Americans concerned about the integrity of
our elections? NTD's Sam Wong was out
on the National Mall in D.C. to hear from the people.
President Trump has been honing in on the message
of election integrity. Do you echo
President Trump's concern here? Oh, 100 percent.
If you're letting, let's say, a hundred million
Chinese come over here illegal and vote,
what do you think is going to happen? So we just
got to let them come over and do that and then
you don't have a country. That's vitally
important. We've got to make our votes count.
That's where he's headed, for sure.
I think we have some of the safest,
free elections in the world. I think we should
continue to admire that.
As long as we leave the states in charge of it as well,
it's not about the federal government trying to take it over.
I think he's absolutely right. California
takes forever to count their votes because
they're too busy doing things they shouldn't be doing to the vote box.
Absolutely. They need to rectify some of these,
like waiting two weeks to get ballots in and
counting them and whether to end fighting it.
Just have it all done on election day so we know
the results that day. Are you concerned about non-citizens voting
in our elections? Yes because
that disenfranchises me like my vote didn't count in the last election
when all the other stealing
was going on. That's stealing my vote.
That's stealing your vote. That's stealing your children's vote
in the future. It's a very rare event
and I think that that's completely overblown so I think that
that's not my concern. My concern is getting people out to vote
and having people understand
what they're voting for very much
so yeah i think this is vitally important that you know uh voter
id is uh an important part you gotta have id
for everything else in life that's why they left the
border open was to get new voters soon to be new voters
in here it's really unimaginable why they
think we need an id to get cold medicine
or do anything around here to fly in the airplane we
came on today to get here, and yet we don't need to do it to vote.
And coming up on opening night
in the NBA, the defending champion New York Knicks celebrate
their title against LeBron James and the
star-studded Sixers. We'll be a playoff preview.

Just because I'm a senior, and maybe you are too,

When was the last time you checked to make sure
you're paying the lowest available rate?
Well, maybe it's time to give your car insurance a

Martin, Dave, we're
in that very unique
time of the sports year where baseball
is overlapping with the other big three sports
but the NBA set the kickoff
or tip off I should say this evening it's like the the perfect storm
you got the World Series going on NFL in full swing
and now the NBA but yeah we got we got a
triple header tonight with the NBA going Knicks meanwhile raised
their championship banner tonight
with LeBron James and his star-studded Philadelphia 76ers in town.
That game starts in just a few minutes here, 7 p.m. Eastern time.
And this, much like those NBA Finals games
a few months ago, a very hot ticket.
According to ticket data, the get-in price,
which is the lowest price available
for tonight's game, upwards of $1,500.
Now, obviously, the New York Knicks' first
title celebration in more than 50 years
is the main attraction, but the Sixers should be a good draw
as well as the road team this season.
And the team not only signed LeBron James,
they traded away Paul George for Boston's Jaylen Brown.
And they already had All-Stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
So this matchup actually could be maybe
an Eastern Conference Finals preview.
But that's not the only game on so far.
The Pistons already came back to beat
the Celtics earlier this afternoon, 121-113.
Boston led by 13 at the break, but Detroit had a big second half.
Then later tonight, we've got the Spurs and the Thunder,
the two teams who met in the Western Conference Finals last summer.
facing off tonight in San Antonio.
That game starts at 9.30 Eastern.
So we've already got one NBA game done.
One's going to start soon, and then we've got another big one tonight.
Yeah, literally two blocks from here,
the Knicks will be raising their championship flag,
which is really exciting.
But I think we're going to be talking about these Sixers all year long.
LeBron taking the league minimum.
He's got plenty of money.
He wants championships.
and the Sixers, I mean,
that entire starting roster looks like All-Stars.
It does. I think the big key here
is going to be the health of Joel Embiid.
It usually is. He's had some injury problems in years past.
But when he's at his best, I mean, he's an MVP player.
He won MVP a few years back.
He's a very dominant center, kind of a throwback center still,
kind of a rare thing in the league, but you're right.
They've got a very talented lineup.
Of course, if you looked at the Knicks lineup,
You wouldn't actually think that this is going
to be a championship team either.
The Knicks seem to be much greater than the sum of their parts.
Somehow they get it done.
Well, if anybody can teach Embiid the tricks of keeping his knees
and other parts of his body healthy,
it would be the longevity of LeBron James.
There's got to be some wisdom and methods to his madness
to have the longevity that he's had.
So I think that having that coach on the floor for him
could really provide some counsel there.
I've never seen a guy in his 40s this good, you know, in the NBA.
I mean, we had Kareem Abdul-Jabbar reaching that point,
but he was not quite the center of his team anymore.
Even Michael Jordan late in his 30s was not quite, I mean,
you wouldn't expect him to be the same scoring champion,
but I've never seen someone this good at this age.
He's about 41 now, so it worked for him 42 this season.
Yeah, I know we're chewing up all the time here, but it is fascinating.
But I have to say, Embiid did one of the most freakishly athletic moves
I've ever seen in an NBA game,
and I think he got hurt in the playoffs because of it,
but he ran out of steps,
so he just threw the ball against the backboard,
and then he went and got it and dunked it,
so I think it's going to be an exciting season.
A 7-1 guy doing that is pretty special.
All right, let's talk about the World Series.
All right, yeah, the World Series is now set.
The Tampa Bay Rays advanced to the World Series
with a 7-3 win last night over the Cleveland Guardians
to win the series four games to two.
Junior Caminero and Yandy Diaz both hit
late-game two-run home runs for the Rays.
There was actually a pitcher, Freddy Peralta, who won ALCS MVP,
getting the win last night, allowing just one run in five-plus innings.
That was actually his second win of the series for Peralta,
who's really been proven to be an excellent
pickup at the trade deadline
after fixing whatever issues he might have had with the New York Mets.
So now he will be part of the team advancing
to face the team that traded him last offseason,
Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series.
Now, this will mark the first time since 1920 that
both teams in the World Series have actually never won
the World Series before. Now, for
Tampa Bay, this is their second World Series
appearance overall since starting as a franchise
in 1998. For Milwaukee, also their second appearance ever.
They started as a franchise
back in 1969, actually as the Seattle Pilots.
Game one will be Friday night in Milwaukee.
All right, baseball fans, the World Series, nothing quite like it.
We were talking about injuries with Embiid.
Now let's move to the NFL, which is even a gorier game.
You know, they're dropping like flies.
And unfortunately, Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin
out for the rest of the season.
Yeah, McLaurin tore that patellar tendon
in his left knee in last night's game.
We'll miss the rest of the regular season.
That's according to Commanders coach Dan Quinn.
The 31-year-old McLaurin led the team, actually still leads the team,
with 230 receiving yards in the season.
He was injured in his first quarter play,
just running his route, carted off the field,
and his commanders ended up losing the game 23-17.
Now, elsewhere in the NFL,
multiple reports had the NFL not punishing the Philadelphia Eagles
for how they handled quarterback Jalen Hurts' blood clot injury
and treatment, mostly last week.
Hurts was diagnosed with a superficial blood clot
in his calf before the Week 5 game about
a week and a half ago against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
Hurts ended up playing that game, but the Eagles lost.
Last Wednesday, a follow-up ultrasound revealed
the blood clot had actually moved to his lungs.
After further consultation,
he was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Now he will reportedly miss the rest of the season.
Eagles are now 2-4 on the season after losing Sunday
to the Panthers without Jalen Hurts.
So, yeah, like you said, a rough game,
probably even rougher if you have to play with a blood clot,
I would think, but some other guys do.
Absolutely. Well, we wish him well and a speedy recovery,
even though he will not be suiting up again this season.
And great updates. Thank you, Dave.
Thank you, Kerry.
And that is all the time we have for today's evening news.
But for around-the-clock coverage, you can always visit us at NTD.com.

We'll see you tomorrow.
