Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium is a defunct multi-purpose stadium in Washington, D.C. It is located about two miles due east of the U.S. Capitol building, near the west bank of the Anacostia River and next to the D.C. Armory. Opened 59 years ago in 1961, it was owned by the federal government until 1986. Now come with me as I show you an exclusive look at behind the scenes at the stadium.
Today we say goodbye to one of the great NFL stadiums of all time.
A stadium with images that cannot be forgotten.
40 men together can't lose.
Kilmer drops straight back.
Great names.
Great memories.
So does the 35-year history of RFK Stadium.
Okay, boys and girls, I'll be right back where I get a light.
Okay, so we're back.
It still has grease inside.
Yeah, oh my god, it's leaking all over the floor.
Security could literally come around any corner right now.
This place is like, I feel like it wasn't used.
It was used last in 2012, but like it's in pretty bad shape.
Okay, so this is probably like a press box.
Either that or game official or even coaches, I guess.
It's got a lot of seats.
The lights work?
Yep, pretty basic.
I mean, this would be for the fans.
Capital View Club.
Yeah, these are probably like, you know, members.
Oh, they got the nice TV too.
I mean, it looks like they don't even clean up after they're done.
Like, hey, last game.
So this looks like the VIPs, I guess.
Wow, it's really warm in here too.
You're isolated.
You're separated from all of those peasants down there.
Peasants.
If you were sitting here, you wouldn't even see the game.
It came on.
So it looks like they would have this little mobile phone here.
And like you could order, yeah, like hot dog and pizza and water.
It's kind of cool.
It's an HTC, so it's, I mean, it's pretty, it's like a 2011 phone, maybe.
Not that old.
And then I think the last team left in 2012.
So it makes sense.
Guacamole.
There's an orange coming out.
Pretty cool.
So much movement out here.
We just don't know what's, what.
Those are the big glass windows in the front of the stadium that see the streets.
Oh, really?
Yeah, you want to go on the other side?
Yeah.
Hop in here first, or?
Oh, yeah, there's a ladder.
Oh, it's so nice in here.
Oh, it feels so good in here, guys.
You have no idea.
It's, it feels like it's like 90 degrees.
I mean, we got cops outside driving.
The military out there.
Michael Jackson.
I remember when these came out.
This was a while ago.
Can't flick the, I guess lights work in here.
Ray Charles.
Where's Kendall Jenner?
She loves her Pepsi.
So this stadium is right next to an armory.
And when we're actually filming, this is when all the protests are happening.
So it's pretty crazy out there.
There is military everywhere.
We literally, military and police.
And to be honest, they could probably see us if they really looked right now.
That's true.
Yeah, so the Capitol members had this cool advantage where they could just
come out here on this deck, chill, talk, just get like away from the music a little bit.
And the crowd.
Oh, these are media guides.
So these would be for the media.
Like probably the person that was in the radio or speaking.
And they could just fact check stuff in here.
They would have one for each team.
They can easily look up stats for when they're crossing.
Yeah.
So like when they say, oh, this player did this and this and whatever.
This is the 2007.
Oh, these are all 2007 guides.
Yeah.
That's like when it was used last, I think.
Yeah.
Oh, for baseball.
Yes.
Yeah.
So that's pretty cool.
Each team had their own book.
So they can look up the entire history or just 2007.
So they probably had a library.
It goes back for each player.
So the current 2007 team listing, it would go back their whole career.
So they can look up each player.
That's pretty cool.
So they had a library for every team pretty much.
The door.
Oh, ----.
There's still amplifiers in here.
It's on, isn't it?
I don't know if we should touch the power switch.
Ah, these lights are on, bro.
The power lights are on, I think.
No, they're not.
No?
Okay.
Do not do that because it could make a noise.
Yeah, I'm not.
Even though this is just press feed PA, like, oh, ----.
Look, scorer mic, crowd mic.
These were the amps.
Wow.
For all the speakers.
Why do they need a crowd mic?
For when you hear the crowd cheering on, like, TV broadcasts.
That's the feed they have.
Oh, okay.
I thought they were, like, feeding in crowd, you know?
Oh, here's books.
Turn your light on.
I can't really get to you.
It's a big pole.
Oh, wow.
These are cool.
Florida Marlins.
2007.
They're all 2007.
We got Braves.
Yeah, Astros.
Astros.
Yeah, we should go to the Astrodome.
Colorado Rockies.
Oh, Milwaukee Brewers.
Indians.
Florida Marlins.
Texas Rangers.
Dimebacks.
That's a lot.
VAs.
Seattle Mariners.
Royals.
That's pretty cool.
Yeah, that is cool.
This is just levels.
Balance.
The drawer.
It's probably, like, mics in there, right?
It's just, like, some manuals and an XLR cable of some kind cut.
Here's the actual...
These are just cupboards, but these are equalizers.
So you don't mess with them.
What's right here?
It's on.
It's definitely not working, right?
The drawer is set to 72.
Yeah, it's definitely not working, but it is blowing.
It's 84 in here, that's all?
So it's, like, 100.
Just all different press boxes and team owners and probably even coaches up here.
Oh, that's nice.
I wonder how long it's been there.
So this is pretty cool.
This is, like, a radio tie-in line.
And they can just, like, plug right into, like, the feed.
It actually says MLB here.
So that bottom one on the right was for the MLB.
Well, the top one's for dugout.
Home dugout.
I'm not sure what the other ones are.
It's pretty cool.
Every door we go out, we have to be very careful.
And into another...
This is very empty.
I'm just gonna go to the next one.
Yeah.
So we've basically seen all these press boxes.
They're all the same.
They have a little cool things in them, though.
Ooh.
So this pressure machine's actually on?
Oh.
Is it?
Do you think I can fit in there, honestly?
Oh, that's so nice.
Should I get in there?
For a picture, yeah, let's do it.
Okay, so I'm gonna get in.
Okay, it's a little tighter than I thought it would be.
Okay, you gotta fit.
How is it?
So if you look down there, there's actually the dugouts.
There's one.
There's the other.
I'm not sure which one's home, which one's away.
I think that's away, and I think that's home, always.
But who knows?
Check this light that's just hanging, but it's on.
Yeah, this place is definitely not opening anytime soon.
It's actually slated for demolition, so.
If you're watching this, it's probably already getting demolished.
It's got 99 missed calls.
Wow.
Should we grab the phone number and call it one day when it's easier or something?
Oh my god, I'm hilarious.
99 missed calls.
I guess they're not answering.
Here's like a, uh, player.
This hallway is pretty sick with the lights.
It is.
Check out this room.
This is so dated looking.
Oh, look at that.
It's Google Maps from 2008.
Yeah, there's a passport right there.
Oh, that's not a passport.
These are all the end of 2019.
Look, it's saying November 2019.
They're trying to host something here.
Events DC.
Really?
I don't think it happened.
Date and time, 11-22-2019.
Maybe they just had offices active.
Oh, IT room right here.
This should be cool.
IT locked.
Here's servers going.
It says done.
What's not?
Those are at least...
Whoa.
Oh, there's modern computers in here.
Look at this.
This is very modern.
This is the DC Convention Center.
But then there's also really old looking ----.
And then there's this mess, which is used.
Wow.
They're on battery.
Modern battery.
Yeah, this is definitely...
Used 100%.
Yeah.
Doing something in here.
Look at these old looking computers.
This is PowerEdge filming.
Apparently, it's done.
Oh, there's Wi-Fi in here.
I'm gonna check.
It's been used.
BB boxes and an owner's box.
It's very empty.
These are mostly cleared out.
You see what I'm seeing.
There's what?
Oh, snap.
It's already ready.
Yeah, they FedEx tabled on here.
They're weighing it here.
Well, we're in.
Yeah, we logged right in.
Logged right in.
No password.
No wonder it's so slow.
FedEx.
They're shipping computer.
Oh, FedEx ---- manager.
There's internet.
Makes sense that there's a lot of ---- in here.
Computers, servers, switches.
What are these trophies?
See, I was talking about earlier.
These are the military.
Really?
Yeah, try it.
50 cents, that's pretty freaking cheap.
I'll take a water right now.
I don't know how good it's gonna be.
Try another one.
Oh, it's okay.
Try them all.
Check the fancy bar.
Yeah, dance party over here.
Okay, so now we're gonna head over to the owner's box.
Maybe it'll be pretty cool.
We'll see.
So loud.
Yeah, these are just regular boxes.
Let's see if we can find the owner box.
What'd you find?
Cannon battery on the charger.
What?
That thing's done.
Overjuiced.
We found it.
It really doesn't look that special.
I love this Peely paint.
This is DC operations.
What the?
What?
They would really deal with this every time.
That is weird.
Yeah, what the hell?
No wonder they got rid of the stadium.
It's for heading back up.
I know.
That's where the scoreboards are.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, so the top bowl are all original seats.
They made them yellow and like a burgundy because that was the Washington Redskins colors.
And I think they replaced the bottom seats to make them orange.
I'm not sure.
Maybe that was DC United's colors.
But all these seats up top are all original from when it was the Washington Redskins football team.
Way more worn up.
Yeah, because that's their team colors.
So we've been here for five hours.
We've been chilling.
It's been a really hot day.
I think it's time for us to get out of here.
Make sure you go subscribe to Mr. Brian over here.
Aka about proper people.
Half the proper people.
Bye.
