Hi there! So I'm going to be showing you how to paint this design with only using
a cotton swab and a pencil. So this is about a four by five inch stone and on your cotton swab
on one end you want to take all the cotton off so you just want to get down to the stick the
cardboard stick there and on the other end you want to leave the cotton on but just kind of
get your little paint and smear it all over it. You're just kind of making a tool for yourself
and then you're going to let that paint dry and you've got a little dotting tool it's about a
medium-sized dotting tool and get you a pencil with a brand new eraser and a sharpened end.
So you just want to look and just kind of eyeball about the halfway mark of your stone so just kind
of we're going to be drawing the heart underneath that halfway point. So just eyeball your best
heart and if you're uncomfortable drawing hearts you're you know you could totally print one off
the internet and then cut around it and do it that way. So okay so you've got several different size
tips so go ahead and get your cotton end and you're going to dip it in some gold paint. I'm
just going to be starting about midpoint of the curve the upper curve of the heart and you do that
on the same thing on both sides there. If you feel like you need to make your dot a little bigger
then go ahead and just re-dip your tool in the paint and then just re-dot that same dot right
on top of it and it'll just get a little bit larger for you. And then here I'm not wanting
as large of a dot I just kind of want to make them smaller so they're going to descend in size.
So still using the cotton end you're just going to make a smaller dot next to it
and then just kind of dab your tool off on a damp towel. You don't want to rub it or twist it.
And now we're going to use the cardboard stick part of the cotton swab here and just go ahead
and dip it in some gold paint and I'm going to put one on the top and then I'm going to go ahead
and do a few down the other side there and I'm going to leave some space and then just go ahead
and just wipe off your tool. I'm going to leave a little bit of space there and I'm going to grab my
sharpened pencil and now I want the first dot here a little larger so I go ahead and just double dot
it and then go ahead and just dip your tool once and continually dot all the way down to the tip
of the heart and the dots will get smaller all by themselves or they should at least in theory.
And then just do the same thing there at the top. Again I'm going to make the dot that's you know
next to the the largest dot there a little larger so I do it twice and then I just dip and
dot all the way down to the base of the heart there. Moving on I've got some red paint and I'm
just going to do the exact same process so I just kind of left it at a higher speed because this is
basically just going to repeat over and over again. If you get little splatters on your stem go ahead
and get another cotton swab and clean them up just get it a little damp and you could just
twirl the paint right off the stem and if you wanted you could absolutely use you know several
cotton swabs here for each color. I did not I just used the same one but you totally could do that.
So again the same thing I'm going to fill in the entire front heart here with red
so that will be the first initial color.
I'm going to have it a rainbow the rest of the way with gold right in between each layer.
You may hear my little chihuahua snoring he is under my chair here and he is just snoring away.
Also I was going to just mention feel free to pause this at any time
and catch up with me. Here in the middle I just kind of take and just rub the pencil around with
some paint on it and just make a little tiny heart in the center. All right that is the first heart
done. So for the next layer I'm going to be using orange and just use whatever you've got handy
that will be just as well. Go ahead and use the cotton swab end cotton end and we're going to be
just covering right over top of the heart humps. So yep just go ahead and do each hump with orange
and I don't go all the way down I just kind of stick to the top there. I'm going to just layer
them on one by one and now with the gold and I'm just sticking that largest dot right kind of right
on top of each of the previous ones the largest previous one and then I flip over to the stick
end of the cotton swab make a few more dots and then grab your pencil and dip it in the paint and
go ahead and just dot all the way down into the center arch and then down the sides.
All right moving on to yellow same process again it's ROYGBIV so red orange yellow green blue
indigo and violet. Now I didn't do indigo I just went from blue to purple because I just
didn't think it was necessary and it's a stone so it's not gigantic. I just went with this but you
can do this in any colors that you like and I'm sure it will be absolutely beautiful. Okay going ahead with
the gold again so just a color and then gold so layer upon layer. Also I do sell dotting tools in
my Etsy shop so if you're interested in actually getting yourself a set of tools I will put a link
to my Etsy shop in the video's description below and I do use my tools in most of my tutorials.
All right next color is green again use the cotton swab in to get your first few initial dots there
and then switch over to the cardboard stick end for a few more dots and then go ahead and grab
your pencil and do a few more dots dipping it each time and then do one final dip and just go
ahead and dot dot dot all the way down.
If you have any questions feel free to leave me a comment in the comment section below and I will
absolutely do my best to get back to you and answer your questions. Next color I'm going to use blue.
Now I did go with a lighter blue but you could definitely do whatever color blue that you like
you know there's plenty plenty of variations of all of these colors so
just do you just do what you like make it your own. My goal of this video was really just to
show you that you don't actually have to have any fancy tools to make beautiful dot art just
anything you have I personally use brushes that's just what I like to use that's what I enjoy
but you know dotting tools work perfectly they're super easy to use and it's almost guaranteed to
give you a perfect dot each time. All right moving on to purple beautiful purple I love
same exact process again just adding a few more dots because your arches are getting a lot larger
and then a dot all the way down on the ends there
and then I went ahead and used the pencil eraser for my largest dot of the last layer of gold
and then I used the cotton swab and did a few dots around that larger dot there
and then I'm actually going to take this gold layer all the way down those colors and it's
meet up where the the gold heart that goes around the red heart it's going to meet up
right where that stops there so I'm going to go ahead and get some uniform dots down the sides
and the way to do that would be just to re-dip your tool in the paint and then make one dot
re-dip make one dot re-dip one dot and then when you're ready for the dots to get smaller which
is usually about I don't know half of an inch or so just make you know one last step and then
dot dot dot dot dot like that all right and then I decided that I just wanted to bring in some white
to kind of draw the eye away and kind of look at it as a whole so I am going to do a border in white
bright nice bright titanium white and I'm going to take this all the way around the entire heart so
I have the same design on the back of the stone as well that is what I used to kind of work out
my idea here for this tutorial I just have so many ideas for Valentine's Day hearts you know
there's so many different things you could do so I just decided to work one out before I
jump on and start recording so okay same process again and then to just re-dip dot re-dip dot
dip dot dip dot and then once you're about I don't know like I said about a half of an inch
from the bottom dip and then just dot dot dot and that will do the trick hey guys I hope you like
this tutorial and if you do please don't forget to give me a thumbs up and if you're new to my
channel I would love to have you as a subscriber thanks so much for watching see you soon
