Hey everyone, this is Calum. So I thought I'd just do this video to show you my first ever
garlic harvest. I gave it a go and tried growing garlic for the first time. Right in there is a
voluntary tomato growing. But anyway, I planted these garlic hoves back in the start of June.
It's now the start of January and it's time to harvest. They're actually overdue to harvest.
I've sort of been neglecting them over the last month. Yeah, they're looking pretty tattered and
pretty stuffed. I got no idea how good the size garlic is in there, but it was just an experiment
to see how well these garlic would grow in a planter. You know, it's not too big a planter,
not too small, but I only ended up putting five cloves in there to grow into garlics.
Anyways, let's move on and harvest these guys. Jeepers, the soil is pretty hard. Let me get a
bit of grip. All right. Jeepers, there must be lots of roots in there. I thought usually you'd
just be able to pull it out, but... Whoa, here we go. That's a big garlic. That's pretty big,
I reckon. All right, let's pull these other guys out. I am pretty stoked with that, I gotta admit.
Look at that. Yeah.
So I'm just thinking back to when I actually prepared this bed, because I only put soil into
it when I started growing these. So these are the first thing that I've grown into the soil.
And basically, it was a mixture of topsoil and compost. And in the mixture, I added quite a bit
of sheep manure pellets, as well as blood and bone into the mix. And then I put a few handfuls
of worms. And I have noticed... Can't see any now, but I did notice a few worms crawling through it
before. So yeah, I did enrich the soil quite a bit, and I have been giving it worm tea out of
my worm farm. So that's probably why I've got pretty good-sized bulbs. These guys, I think,
can be pretty hungry and don't sort of like too much competition. So I have as well kept it pretty
much weed-free, except for this tomato, which has just come up recently. And I thought I'd leave it
there because these are coming out. So there we have it. So there we have it, my first ever garlic
harvest. Pretty awesome, eh? I'm stoked with it anyway. So yeah, it worked out pretty good. Anyway,
I'm out of here. So see you later, Deshoi. And yeah, we'll see you next time. Okay, bye.
