Baby Chimp Night Routine

You can see how calm he is. He's totally used to this. Hi guys! Welcome back to my channel. Of course I have Angada here. And if you're new to this channel, maybe you haven't met Jai yet. But I did do kind of a morning routine with her, so go back in my channel and check it out. Tonight, we're gonna do our nightly routine with Angada. But first, we have to go do the tour. So I'm gonna take you guys along because it is an adventure you cannot have anywhere else. It's absolutely spectacular. Let's go! The opening just gave the people some rules. God, I'm excited! We're gonna go outside and we're gonna see... I don't know. I call it Narnia. You come around the corner and you're just like, What? Where did this come from? It is spectacular. Stay tuned! So there's 18 cats in this room. We're only gonna give them one piece at a time. That way they don't fight. You ready? So all the people are in here. While they're having fun, I have to go get the big tiger with Cody and Doc Antle. And then I have to go dry brush bubbles so that she's clean and ready for the show. Flavor and the juices. Look at those crazy big teeth in there. Those are gigantic. Yum! There we go. Good girl, little pup. You ready for the show? Gives her a little teeny mint. She loves it. Hey guys, this is King Tut and Amun Ra. These two boys have been living with me for about a year and a half and they're definitely one of my best friends. You're such a good boy. Oh, give me kisses. I was trying to do a scream. I'm just turning around. He'll do it better. All right guys, we have finished the night safari and everyone had such a good time. I hope you guys enjoyed it too. But now it's time to get ready for bed. I deeply believe in routine. I think it makes him happier and healthier. I think it makes me happier and healthier. I'm not going to bed without taking a shower ever. So we're gonna go take a shower with Angara. I'm gonna dry him up, give him his baby bottle and then we sit down and watch some television until he's tired. I don't watch television in bed though because I think that probably is a bad thing. Once he's actually ready for bed, I turn on a book on tape and then it's all over. Let's go. For about the past 20 years, if I have to go somewhere, Chyna watches my animals. If Chyna has to go somewhere, she watches mine. And about 18 years ago, I found out the chimps don't want to go into the shower by themselves. So I started going in with them. The reason I mentioned Chyna is because she was washing Ruma who is now about 20 years old. And Ruma came in and she checked the temperature of the water before she got in. She asked me why that happened. I thought that was a normal thing to happen. But it's because I do. So we're about to get the right temperature here. This is starting so good. You want to test it? Maybe. Is it good? Oh, okay. That's a good temperature. Good. Nothing too complicated. I think it's very normal. We just get him all wet, make sure he's rinsed off. And then of course, we got to add some... This is 98.9% natural, but the most important thing is no tears, just in case. Although I'm always going to be really careful. Yeah, and then we got to scrub him up good. You can see how calm he is. He's totally used to this. And because I'm holding him, he knows he's here. He knows he's safe. I can take him into all kinds of new situations as long as I'm holding on to him. And as he gets older, he'll get more brave. You might even see a video, if you subscribe down below, later when he gets brave enough and goes in and does his own shower. You ready to do that yet? No, not ready for that yet. Oh, look at him. He's all clean and ready to go. We got a new diaper for him. We got some new pants for him. And as soon as he's dried up, then we're going to make him a bottle. All right, a little towel dried up. So we're going to put a clean diaper on him. He actually sleeps through the night pretty good. He will wake me up in the middle of the night if he dirties his diaper. And that's actually the only reason he wakes me up. So I know that's what he wants. I wake up, change his diaper, and he goes right back to bed. He'll sleep about 10 hours a night and all the way through. He's a really good sleeper. Yeah, look at that, all clean. You know what? We need to put some oil and lotion on you. That's what we need to do, huh? I've got some right here. So the oil, I'm just putting a little bit on his hair because it just helps keep it soft and shiny. And then the lotion just goes on his hands and feet. Kind of rub it up like that and just put a little bit on him. Yeah, cool. And of course, I put the baby oil in the tub and that helps keep his skin and his fur beautiful. Good boy. Yeah, come here. You ready for some lotion on your hands and feet? Not a whole lot, just a little bit. Oh, this is closed. There you go. Oops, I got a lot. That's okay. I need some lotion too. And I work it in so that it's all the way in there and he doesn't end up sucking on any of it. But his little hands and feet get dry just like ours do. One more hand. I got one more. There it is. And then he smells so good. Look how fluffy and cute he is after a bath. Yeah, he actually dries really fast. So a towel dry works really good for him. I'm gonna put him on my back so that I can make his bottle. It's really quite simple. I already put some bottled water in here to nine ounces. And then he's gonna get four and a half scoops of baby formula. And then hopefully he won't be too shy of the camera. And hopefully he'll take his bottle. I got Landon helping me out again. Thanks, Landon. Are you ready for this, buddy? Are you ready? We gotta go back to the couch. Sometimes it gets little chunks in there that don't blend in right. And that could clog the nipple which will possibly make him quit. And then he won't want to take the bottle again if the nipple gets clogged. So I just stir it up just in case. It's room temperature. That's the way he likes it. Chimps are actually really sensitive to temperatures. They're sensitive to food temperatures. And they're sensitive to temperatures like in the shower. They're really serious about the temperatures. So I played with it a little bit. He likes it at room temperature. That's just the way it is right now. The showers are never hot. They're never cold. They're lukewarm because that's the way they like it. This is basically the end of our routine. We watch a little bit of television. And then like I said, we go to the bedroom, turn off all the lights, listen to a book on tape until he falls asleep. I don't know if he's gonna take a bottle. So we'll try. Sometimes he's a little camera shy. But tonight, he's ready to take the bottle. And he is eating more and more food. I did see a couple of people ask about him eating. Every Sunday night, we go live on my TikTok, Cody Antle's TikTok, Cody's Instagram. But anyway, there's a whole bunch of us all going live every Sunday night at eight o'clock. I am not going live on my YouTube. But you can check it out on one of those other channels. He is eating really good. His favorite right now is banana and avocado. All right. So once he finishes this bottle, I watch a little bit of television with him. And then we go in, turn out all the lights. And maybe we'll see you on our morning routine.
