Hi guys, welcome back to my channel. Hello Angara. So I have had the amazing opportunity to watch
several great apes learn how to swim. They learn how to swim because we took them into the bath
every single night, we introduced them really slow, and then of course we took them into the
swimming pool. We made sure they were comfortable, we made sure they were confident the whole time.
So today we're going to put Angara in the pool. He's already been in the pool before with some
of his big chimp friends, but we're going to give him a flotation device. So we're going to test out
this flotation device to see if it gives him the confidence he needs to learn how to just navigate
the water. Once he gets taller, he will learn that he can actually touch the ground. That's when they
really get confident. When they see that their head is above water and their feet are touching
the ground, then they start jumping around and they start testing whether or not they can swim.
So this is going to be a process, probably even over a couple of years, but this is the very first
step of that process. How do you think it's gonna go? Do you think he's gonna like it? Stay tuned,
let's find out. So for easily the last 25 years or so, I have been obsessed with sharks. I love
them. They're unbelievable predators and I do think that they are highly misunderstood.
One of my goals in life is to swim with sharks one day. This winter I actually got certified
for scuba, so fingers crossed this dream of mine that is decades long will eventually
come to pass and maybe I'll make a YouTube out of it. What do you guys think? Well the
reason I mention it is because when I saw that one of the pool floats was a shark,
of course I had to get the shark. Okay, this is probably gonna be a minute of having to blow this
up. We almost got it together. Last piece, blowing up this.
That secures the top jaw and we're about ready to get in. You like it? Yeah, he's kind of cute, huh?
You can be inside a shark's mouth. The highest rated just for like stability and the other fun
thing is it has little noisemakers inside of it to entertain them while he's in here.
I got Chyna. You guys remember Chyna? She's also Bollie's mama and I heard Bollie might come out
and check out the pool, isn't it? He doesn't even care at all. What are we doing? Oh, the shark just
ate my whole head. It swallowed you and it bit me in half. Oh, I guess it's just going to keep doing
that. This is amazing. He's so comfortable in here. As I said, it's very stable. He's totally
inside of there. I don't know if you can actually see his little feces.
Sharks are fast predators, huh? Now you're a big fast shark.
He likes it. He's so cute. What a good boy.
Wow, that was really quick, but this is definitely a success. Once we realize that
he's just perfectly happy with this, then we'll start taking other steps. Just having him in here
comfortable, happy, knowing that there are no crocodiles in here. There's nothing in here
that's going to be a danger to him. In the wild, of course, you can't get in the water. It's full
of crocodiles. That's insane. The next step, of course, would be that we would put him in a life
vest. Then it's all up to him after that. If he wants to just swim around in a life vest forever,
he could, or like the older apes, they just took the life vest off. Once they realized that they
were comfortable and confident, once they realized that there was no danger at all,
they just took off and started swimming on their own. They can swim above water. They can swim
below water. Before this happened at our preserve, it was believed that no great ape could swim
besides ourselves. That's blown out of the water. It really just is about being happy, healthy,
comfortable, and knowing that you're safe. This is very exciting.
Do you love swimming? Yeah. This is so safe and wonderful, huh?
So this was definitely a success. He was so comfortable and so calm in there. From the
instant we got him in, absolutely spectacular. I think, of course, it helps to have his big
brother Volley come in the pool, who is so confident. He can swim laps around the pool
right now. If you guys want to watch him learn how to swim, put it in the comments down below.
We're going to keep swimming him, and he's going to keep learning. If it's something you're excited
about, let us know. If you haven't subscribed yet, do that also. Remember, stay wild.
