Thank you
Bonjour, je m'appelle Benjamin and welcome back to Going Green.
So we've just done two days in Paris with our good friend Liv who does architecture with us
and now we're setting off officially. We've done, what is it, seven kilometres now?
Yeah, we're seven and a half in.
And we are heading towards Chateau Terry, is that right?
Yeah, yeah.
Where we're planning on setting up tent for tonight.
So we're going to aim for about 80 to 90 kilometres today.
Yeah.
Quite nice weather so it shouldn't be too hard.
Right, we have done the first 50 kilometres, we are two percent of the way there.
I've got hummus on my face and yeah, I've got a sandwich the size of my head.
So this is night one in the middle of nowhere.
Describe the sight.
And here we have a wild Austin swimming in the French lake,
enjoying the views as he paddles along the water.
Reflections from the first day.
I'd say we have to finish cycling by about two o'clock because it just gets way too hot
and then if we need to go any further we can carry on about five o'clock when the sun goes down.
We did 85 kilometres today?
85.
And that's going to be one of the longest days that we'll do.
But I think we did it in four hours 30, didn't we?
Yeah, it was about four and a half hours.
Yeah, so that's the pace we're setting.
So should, if we did this every day, we can do it in about 30 days.
But yeah, we're going to take a few days of break.
So we're going to do a full day in the morning,
setting off at 6am over to Reims, which is the Champagne region.
And then once we're in Reims, we'll chill.
I think we'll have a day off in Reims on Friday.
And yeah, so we'll see you tomorrow for another day of adventure.
Good morning, people.
We're aiming to do 80 kilometres this morning before,
well, it's going to be a 37 degree day.
So I'm hoping to get it all done before one o'clock.
But Austin's pace, we don't really know.
I'm joking.
Yeah.
Best stuff since sliced bread.
Peanut butter.
He doesn't like peanut butter.
Right, day two.
And today we are heading to Reims, which is the Champagne region of France.
So it's going to be about 80 kilometre day,
but we're going to enjoy ourselves when we get to Reims.
Maybe have a few champagnes when we get there.
Back on the road again.
We just did a really tough hill.
The hardest one I've done in my life.
And it's like, what, 30 odd to Druze.
I'm knackered.
Still got another, like, 30k to do today before we camp up.
But we'll have some lunch.
We should be all right.
Right, we have just arrived at our second campsite.
My God, it's a good view.
That's all for chapter one.
We'll be back next Saturday to show you our journey to Luxembourg.
