This is Derek and this is his 2019 Canyon Spectral.
What don't you like about your bike?
Brakes are not working too good lately.
Brake power feels like it's on the lower end.
The end of some downhill runs, my forearms are screaming.
All right, Derek, this bike is looking pretty sad.
So the budget to upgrade your bike is going to be the revenue for my last video.
So here, check it out.
I've got 415 bucks.
All right, let's go get started.
But first, I'd like to thank this video's sponsor, Squarespace.

Messier than this bike.

Wow, it's amazing what one bike wash can do.
This bike looks almost brand new already.
But Derek was saying that the brakes are not that great.
And they're SRAM guide brakes.
And they feel pretty stiff.
And the bite point is really soft.
So because Canyon is a German brand,
I decided to stay German and go with Magura MT5s that were $290 for a set.
They're four piston front and back and should provide a lot more braking strength.
But here's the thing.
Derek moves to Asheville in two days.
And tomorrow I have to meet him at 6am to give him back the bike.
So I really only have about 14 hours to get this done.
Let's get started.
Oh man, these grips are super nasty and sticky.
But I'm actually really happy to see that this bike has external cable routing.
And that's really going to make the installation of the brakes super easy.
All right, well that plastic external cable routing sucked to deal with.
But Derek said that he's been struggling with forearm pump on the downhills.
So I picked up some new Trail One carbon bars.
This is a new brand by YouTuber BKXC.
But it turns out they're the cheapest name brand carbon bars on the market.
And a portion of the sale goes to supporting trails.
A really cool thing about these Magura brakes is the levers can be flip-flopped.
Both brakes come with the same length hoses.
So I'm going to have to shorten them.
Shortening them could introduce a little bit of air in the system.
So just to be safe, I bought a Magura bleed kit.
But I've never worked on Maguras before.
And I don't have time to look up on how to do it.
I hope this goes okay.
You can tell Derek rides pretty hard because look at how many plugs are in this tire.
And I just can't give this bike back to Derek with this front tire.
It has three different plugs.
So I don't care for over budget.
I just have to replace it.
So I may be super over budget.
But I just could not stand not replacing the grips and pedals.
So I had these rush delivered Ergon grips.
And then I got some Fooker pedals.
They're both bright orange.
So let's give this bike some color flare.
The bike is complete and just in time because it's about to start getting dark.
But these color accents really set off this bike.
And I cannot wait to show Derek and you guys the bike in the morning.
All right, Derek.
The bike is here.
It's set up.
Go ahead and turn around.
How do you like it, man?
Dude, it's so sick.
Let's go ride this thing.
Let's do it.
The Magura brakes are so powerful.
You just get a bite of the brakes and it just immediately feel the stopping power.
But if you hit it any harder than that, your bike just comes to a complete stop.
Towards the end of the ride, I almost flipped over the bars,
not really being used to the brakes.
I don't know if the carbon bars made a substantial difference.
The grips are night and day different.
I'm not sure if it's a combination of the handlebars, the grips, the pedals.
I felt like I was glued to the bike.
Nice finish.
All right, man.
I'm glad you enjoyed those upgrades.
Have fun in Asheville, dude.
Thanks, man.
Well, let's push this video far and wide.
Like, comment, share, all that stuff.
To get this revenue up for the next Sad to Rad.
Who knows?
Maybe your bike could be next.
