Hey barn fam! Welcome back to my channel! And for those of you that are new, welcome! So I'm in my
barn right now. It's kind of late, but I really really wanted to do this video because it is a
Barn Essentials. Now that we have our barn fully operational, I want to share with you guys what
is essential for us with our barn that maybe you guys already have and agree that it's essential,
or that maybe you guys could implement in your barn that would be essential for you
and help make things easier for you because these are things that have made barn life easier for me.
So whether you board at a barn, whether you own a barn, like manage a barn, whether you have a
barn on your property, I believe that this whole list can be used in all of those circumstances.
Like I said, whether if you're just a boarding member of a barn or if you do own the barn,
a lot of these can all cross over. I have boarded before and I know all of these have helped me
and now owning a barn and using a barn, I definitely know that all of these help me.
So let's go ahead and just go right into it. If you guys are excited for today's video and
excited to see my barn essentials, make sure you go ahead and give this video a big thumbs up.

All right you guys, let's get into number one of my barn essentials. So if you guys just started
following me basically after the barn series, you guys will have definitely picked up that one of my
favorite barn essentials. Is this a leaf blower? I'm serious. I love this thing. So this is my
Milwaukee leaf blower. It's electric. It's battery operated so it's super convenient because if you
don't have electric in your barn, you can still use this. Obviously you just have to charge the
batteries but if you just put the batteries on the charger at night, you're gonna have a fully
charged battery during the day. So I love these. They're super convenient. There's two speeds on it
and I love to blow my barn out. It keeps everything super clean and gets out way more dirt than any
broom could ever. I like to groom my barn first and then I will go in with the blower just so
there's not a lot of dust but I absolutely love my leaf blower. Even the cobwebs around my barn,
I have to make sure that I leaf blow them because I like to make sure that everything stays as clean
as possible in my barn and I honestly have to give it to this for why my barn can be so clean because
I'm constantly using this. I blow off everything because we get a lot of shavings, a lot of dust,
so this thing is always getting used. I even had a small one if you guys remember. I loved it so
much that I knew I had to get the big one so absolutely had to put this as my number one barn
essential. I absolutely love my leaf blower. So my second part essential is scissors or a little hay
bale cutter and I'm gonna say these interchangeably kind of because I like to keep a dedicated pair of
barn scissors so ours just stay right above the feed and you can cut open bags of feed anything
you can cut open hay with these so always I believe a dedicated pair of barn scissors is a must.
So keep them in your barn don't bring them in throughout the house or try to bring them to
the barn if you're bored just get a pair of scissors that you can dedicate and leave at the
barn and like I said a baling twine cutter to open up your bales of hay so all hay comes with
two or three strings on them they look like this and this tool is used specifically to open hay
bales so you don't want to have to bring your scissors out of your tack room wherever you keep
them I just like to keep this specifically by the hay and it's super easy and quick at opening
them so all I do if I have a bale of hay right here I just go like this and it just cuts it just
like that it's so easy so you can just go swipe swipe on both strings super easy I just keep this
by my hay and the blade is like incognito in there so it's never really exposed so this is my number
two barn essential along with the scissors now number three is right here so barn cats I think
these are an absolute essential and you guys know how much I love my barn cats not just for the fact
they're so cute so sweet and that you constantly have cats running around I think that's really
awesome but they are literally the best best I will stand by this statement mouse or rat catchers
so I have tried baits and things like that but I don't like to use bait in my barn if my dogs come
to my barn or any animal and stuff like that it can kill them but also when you use bait for rats
or mice typically they run to water after they have eaten the bait and then you'll find mice or
rats in your water troughs or your water buckets because that's just where they want to go and I
don't really want to find that so my cats take care of it and it's out of sight out of mind we
never have rats that's why I have so many cats because I want them to be able to combat all of
the rats and keep them out of my barn rats carry a lot of disease and they are super common in
Florida for us but I'm sure they're common everywhere especially in barns so definitely
always people say that cats are an essential to a barn and there's so many programs out there
where you can even get barn cats for free and it just puts them in a good home off the highway and
things like that where they belong in a barn chasing rats and mice so I definitely recommend
barn cats right you would recommend them to huh literally when I just said that he opened his
mouth I definitely think he just said yes and they love this life seriously they love being
out and living in the barn and they love to jump on the hay and everything I don't know I could go
on and on but we need to go to number four all right so number four barn essential and these
are also a must and if you guys know me and know my videos I have a bad habit about this so this
is why this is an essential so they are my boots so you guys see me wear these all the time these
are my edwin boots I absolutely love these boots they're super cute and they're great to ride in
not only are they great to ride in and super cute they are very comfortable so I'm on my feet all
day doing chores in my barn and I can literally wear these boots all day and not even feel like
I'm wearing boots that's why a lot of the times you won't see me wearing boots because if I am
doing a lot of chores I won't really want to wear boots because they can be uncomfortable but
if I am in boots you guys will see me in these boots and I can wear these all day so I definitely
think it's an essential to just have a pair of barn boots because if you're anything like me
and you have to feed every day or do chores in the barn every day sometimes it's a hassle to either find
your boots or even want to put them on so keeping a pair of boots in your barn your tack room is an
essential because I have a bad habit like I said of not wearing them so if they're in my barn I
literally can walk out to the barn with any shoes that I have on and can put my barn boots on and I
absolutely love my edwin boots that I teamed up with edwin to get you guys a discount code right
now today it starts today 20% off like that's a really good percentage off all you have to do is
use code stephanie20 so stephanie my name with two zero to get 20% off your order you guys will
absolutely love these boots and I think it's absolutely essential to have a pair of boots in
your barn or in general just have boots super essential if you guys have horses or anything
like that and they're super cute even if you don't have horses now number five barn essential which
I never knew I needed until I had it is a big giant shovel guys I'm serious I even have one now
in metal this is my plastic one I have a metal one as well and like I said I never knew that I
needed one of these until I got one of these and realized I don't know how I live without it with
my barn so we use these for everything cleaning our mucking carts out cleaning our stalls out
stripping them we use the plastic one for mucking out our stalls inside the stall because it is
rubber and if you guys even have just regular rubber mats I recommend plastic one it smoothly
glides on it without tearing it or anything like that and then I use the metal one more so for
dumping out my mucking cart we use these for everything around here we clean our chicken
coop with them literally the chicken coop got cleaned with this today so we use them all around
here they are super super helpful and I can't believe I have lived without a big shovel for so
long so they are really affordable so I highly recommend a big scoop shovel like this as a barn
essential back in the tack room for barn essential number six you guys so it's right here behind me
is this barn tracker so this was really neat it came from a country supply I guess I don't know
it's super old because we found this left over in the house when we bought it and it's super
neat I had actually never seen anything like this or even looked to find anything like this
on here has the deworming spot where you can put the horse name product date hoof care immunizations
phone numbers if there's barn managers anything like that with all boarders and then all this
open space that you can put whatever you want there so like I said these essentials are for
if you're a barn manager if you board horses or have your own barn and in all three of those
scenarios if you're a barn manager you can have phone numbers on here know all the horses that
are boarding all of their different schedules of warming hoof care immunizations same thing
as being a boarder you can put everything on here there's clear communication and then right here
in the middle we use ours to put down all of our outside animals eat and this is so essential
because if you board somewhere obviously this is going to be essential but even if you own your own
property and have your own barn if you ever were in a jam and couldn't feed or something like that
and you needed somebody or a friend to feed for you you don't have to go through and try to sling
what everybody gets everything's written down here we put out exactly everything that they need
and know everything about them everything's up to date so super essential in my opinion to have
because if they came in here to even try to feed it's right here smack dab in front of their face
right by the feet so I think this is a really cool thing to have it doesn't need to be this
exact barn tracker I just think they're really neat because it's made for that but it'd be
anything from a whiteboard anything like that but I do think it's super essential to have
these things really written down as far as warming goes your hoof care just to keep you on track even
immunizations knowing you got your cogs and things like that so I think this is super essential to
while we're in the tack room we're going to do number seven barn essential so number seven is
metal trash cans metal trash cans by far are going to be an essential in a barn whether using it for
trash or just feed because metal is super strong super tough and you want that rather than plastic
in my opinion so that you don't have rats or other animals trying to chew through it and get through
it so metal is definitely a good thing because if you don't have those barn cats you are probably
going to get rats at some point so you're going to need something that will not be chewed through
by rats I have been there done that experience that so metal trash cans are a must whether like
I said it's regular trash we keep all of our feed in all of our metal trash cans even in our little
extra bin that we have here we still keep our feed in metal trash cans just because we know
that it technically preserves better because you don't have anything urinating on it like that
you don't have any rats get into it's just keeping it the cleanliest that it can and stowed away in
a really nice place now I'm in one of my horse stalls for number eight barn essential and their
fans I know all of you guys can probably agree with me no matter what climate really you're in
fans are so essential obviously a big one is so that your horses have constant airflow but also
keeping the fans on you'll see a decrease in flies and mosquitoes just because everything's
whirling around and it keeps the airflow going out not just in the stall but believe it or not
throughout the whole barn if you strategically place your fans so it'll create a nice cycle
of wind throughout the barn I think fans are so essential if your horses are in a stall or
in a barn some fan at some point is really essential we're even considering putting in
another fan in the stalls and maybe even one in the front in the back of the barn just so we have
really good airflow so I definitely recommend as the barn essential our fans so number nine
barn essential must have in my opinion is a cart like this so a lot of people call it a gorilla
car ours is actually the brand ground works same thing as that it's just a heavy duty cart that's
on wheels ours also has a dump bucket so I think this is really important pull that dumps out like
that so I think these are absolutely essential because you can use them for everything around
a barn we literally have used it for everything you name it whether it's carrying in feed bags
we used to use it as our feed cart before we had the barn we use it to transport materials if we're
working on a project and mostly now which we have used it already in the past for this too at our
old property was as a manure dump cart so we clean our stalls and the manure goes into here and we
can just dump it if you had a manure pile we personally scoop ours out because we have the
manure spreader but this works great it's so versatile anything that you can think that we
can use this for we have you name it we have used this thing for so much around the farm definitely
an essential are you guys home stretch in the last couple barn essentials so number 10 are
cross ties I love having cross ties in my barn more than I ever thought I would so cross ties
are really essential or anything that you have a designated place to tie your horse up I know some
horses aren't good on cross ties so any place that's sturdy enough in your barn that won't
take down the barn to tie your horse up it's very convenient when your farrier comes I know how easy
it is for us to just cross tie our horse up in the middle of the center alleyway and have the
farrier come and trim all of our horse's hooves he's already said how easy it is for him to do
that and any place that's just a dedicated area to tie your horse up I highly recommend to pre-plan
think about that or if you don't have it find a place to put some type of tying setup for your
horse inside your barn number 11 barn essential must have is these bridal hooks outside of every
stall they are so handy and so helpful and actually in my opinion so safe so all of my
stalls have a designated bridal hook spot so as you can see there's a halter and lead rope on every
single hook outside of the stall now why I say these are really important and essential and
really safe is because if you were ever in a jam and needed to grab your horse quick you don't want
to have to be shuffling through a tack room or things like that it's super important and safe
to be able to if you needed to rush out here and grab your horse or if you had other people that
were helping you grab your horses in time of disaster something like that crazy if you needed
to grab your horse quick you don't have to have people helping you try to find lead ropes everything
is right here right in front of the stall for you to quickly access grab it and it's super convenient
I love not having to go find a halter and lead rope everything's just right here and I will say
I know many of you may think that your horse will mess with it but I have a colt right here he's only
just four years old and he leaves his alone of course sometimes you're going to get a little bit
bored and will mess with it but not enough and if they do drop it on the floor it's not a huge deal
you can pick it up and once they get used to it being there they're really not going to mess with
it or maybe your horse will but I do think it's super important and super safe and a major essential
for a barn last but not least barn essential must have number 12 you guys I'm leaving this one for
the end because I know every single one of you that has horses will absolutely have this in your
barn because you have to feed your horse hay so my final barn essential is bailing twine so I know
I have a bunch of pieces here here's one for example right here so you have it so keep it
because you can use this all around a barn a farm anywhere just a couple of places that we even use
it just for instance our cross ties right here because if anything did happen and they pulled
back or anything like that they would just break the bailing twine rather than take down the whole
barn or hurt themselves we use it for gate latches gate hinges just in a pinch anything like that as
a bracket when we broke the water pipe over by the cow barn we use bailing twine just to tie it back
up so it wasn't flopping around we use it as bit hobbles even when riding or even to hold our back
cinch to our front cinch if you were on a trail ride and the strap broke or something like that
bailing twine is super helpful such an essential around a barn I don't know why these strings are
so magical but they can do so many things they're really strong and sturdy but also very breakable
and pliable if anything were to happen where you would need them to break as well definitely
recommend as a barn essential and on that note I want to know in the comments which ways you guys
use bailing twine because I'm so curious because we use it for so many random things I'm so curious
to hear what you guys use it around for around your barn are you guys so those are my top 2021
barn essentials must-haves that have been working so awesome for me that I hope can help you guys
as well some of them I know may not work for you guys in your situation but I really hope that if
some of these will be able to help you that you guys implement them they have made a barn life a
lot easier for me let me know in the comments which barn essentials you already use or are
planning to implement in your barn if you guys like today's video make sure you go ahead and
