What's up everybody and welcome to another Viking in the Jungle update.
It is 6 a.m in the morning and today we are going to plant the OG trees on my land.
Welcome to Viking in the Jungle, I'm Erik the Viking and this is the jungle.
So one thing that I'm noticing right now we're on the land, we took the cows off because the cows
weren't mine and this is the land right now and we wanted to start building and stuff like that
but now I realized that the grass is getting taller and taller very very quickly. We might
be allowing some cows again on the land just so that this can stay flat but later I'm going to be
letting the grass grow and then use that as mulch and use that as with a chop and drop technique to
give more nutrients to the soil.
So Lili is concerned that we're not picking our plantains and that if we don't pick them they'll
go bad. So he says we have to harvest all the plantains today because we will look like
pendejos if we don't harvest them. Pendejos means idiots.
He says that all I have to do is go on the streets and say I have platanos and people will buy them.
So we're going to be planting and harvesting. Yes but let's get the plant out of the car.
Okay so we found out what this plant is. This was my question mark but it's abillo and I'm
super stoked that it is abillo because it's one of my most delicious fruits that I've tasted
here on the island. So we're gonna be planting that. The sad thing is on our way here there's
a papaya plant that I got but on our way here it broke. Bam said it's gonna survive so we'll see.
Then we have all the okras. We have this huge avocado tree which I'm stoked about. Look how
big this is. It's a few weeks of growth. We already know that avocado is growing super well here
because well I got two or three trees already on my land. And we got zapote. I got a lemon tree
that was gifted to me so we're gonna give this some sweet care. Alex thank you very much my brother.
Then we have cashew and we have moringa. That's all for today. This is what we're planting but
as you just heard Lilito told us we need to farm the platanos so let's get it popping.
Whoa look at this. I just found this avocado. I was just running on my way to the platanos and
then I found this avocado and I can hear the pit and I can see all these breadfruits laying on the
ground. It's harvesting day people. What a gorgeous gorgeous thing to do.
That was an expert.
He says this right here 300 pesos.
He said that after you chop and drop the dead banana it's not a good idea to put
it right at the trunk because that's where the babies come up from and it could mush them.
Okay on the inside and then you pull it.
You don't want it to crash on the ground and get damaged.
We got another five bucks.
Those are the only ones? He says first of all I didn't know but there's male and female banana
plants and the male ones when the tips dry they're good to harvest and that red banana bunch over
there this is the only red banana clump on the whole farm and now it belongs to you. We need
more of those. This one's for you.
You gotta cut it but not totally across just to cut a little bit.
Watch out pull it close. Timber! Yeah man show us what you got.
That's some heavy stuff. Flip it over so it doesn't bleed on you.
What do you mean like this? Yes because it's gonna drip from the bottom.
This stuff damages your clothes.
He says you gotta get clothes just for planting and then you have to chop up the plant.
You gotta chop and drop this plant.
Plant man in action!
They're all ripened? So the last time I was on the farm I was a little bit disappointed
because they took away the shack that I really liked and so we asked Papito to build a little
shack and he built something that's way better than it was already there. Gracias Papito!
When plantains cost more than 10 pesos a pop you know times are hard.
When plantains are five pesos a pop things are booming. The economy's thriving.
So our peso in large part has to do with the value of plantains.
I got the original banana coin. The banana coin.
Let's get these babies planted. They're looking already happy on the land bro.
Yeah new soil. All right after harvesting the platanos which was so much fun but they're so
heavy. I'm looking forward to selling those. Now it's time to be planting some of the trees. Some
of the trees like full sun so we're gonna put them here out in the grassland and some we're
in the forest but we're going to start with the grassland. There's already a guava tree over there
that's growing and so what we're going to do is we're going to pick a line because I don't know
exactly the plan yet. So we're just going to pick a line and plant it about two meters away from the
guava tree so that we create a line of fruit trees. I'm so excited about this. These are
going to be my OG trees. The first trees that I'm planting on the land. Let's go. The cashews.
That was one of the easiest holes I've ever dug and as soon as I flipped over the soil
you see some earthworm action right here. The lion's alive. I'm gonna dig a little deeper.
I think we should plant the moringa.
Fill it up. You don't seem to be too careful with them.
Moringas take a lot of abuse and the more you cut them the stronger they become.
But this one that I cut and this one that I'll cut just to show you.
You watch how they grow back stronger than almost the other ones.
We got a viking cutting a hole.
People dream of land like this. Vikings. Look at this ----. Look at this ----. Oh man you're
blocking the sun. Black soil. It is so nice. It is so nice. We got some babies that I've taken
care of for a while now. From seeds right? From seeds exactly. What'd you plant in here? What's
this? These are some cashews. Cashews? Cashew nuts? Tasting cashews. Cashew nuts? Yeah.
Going nuts for cashews. All right the tip over the pot trick.
Loosen it up. Pull it up from the hole and you got yourself a nut. Wow look at that. Rooted ball.
So many animals in there already. Look the leaves, the fungi. All right flip it over baby.
You want to say a word to these fine cashews? I'm saying them in prayer
inside of myself but all I'm saying to them is thank you for teaching me
and I hope I'll ever get to taste your sweet sweet fruits.
I hope my girlfriend doesn't get jealous. Well she's gonna partake in that. This is some of the
best soil I've ever seen in my life and there's enough room for it so I'll go ahead and plant
your okra for you. The okras are here and specifically not under the breadfruit tree
so the breadfruits don't crush it. So these are very special to me. These are abius.
I'm stoked to finally be growing this on my land or to be planting this on my land. So these
Behem and I just got from the supermarket and I absolutely loved it. Put the seeds into the ground
and here we are. So excellently a prime location for some plants. This is the spot for the lemon
tree. Alex thank you very much for the lemon. Who needs a gym? All right as you see right here
we got so many platanos. It's ridiculous and right now we're planning uh well we're now taking this
back and then we're planning on selling it but man these things are heavy and walking up and down
that uh hill every single time with fists full of platanos it's a good workout and it uh it feels
very very good that this all all of this at least a hundred I think 150 or something maybe 200 of
the platanos all came from holandito already and we've not done anything yet so uh that's a very
very good start thank you very much for watching viking in the jungle and i'll see you in the next
---- look how many
The land that I bought. Where?
Next to the land you almost bought.
Oh my goodness!
100 for you, 100 for me.
Ow!
