To half double crochet, first make your chain row, then when you're ready to place your
first stitch, you're going to want to go into that third chain from the hook.
So, yarn over, have yarn on top of your hook, before you go through that chain stitch.
Grab the yarn with your hook, pull through that stitch, and you'll now have three loops
on your hook.
Go ahead and grab the working yarn with your hook, and pull through all three of those
loops.
That's your first half double crochet.
So, yarn over, go through the chain stitch, yarn over, have three loops on your hook,
yarn over, and pull through all three loops.
Go ahead and repeat this process all the way across.
It's the same thing over and over, just yarning over, going through the stitch, and then going
through all three loops.
The biggest difference between a half double crochet stitch and a single crochet stitch
is just that you yarn over before you place your hook through the stitch, so that you'll
have three loops on your hook to work with at a time.
Go all the way across into that very last chain stitch, and this is how your first row
of half double crochet should look.
To start the next row, you're going to make a chain two, make two chains.
Turn your work, and we're going to go right underneath both of these loops right here
at the top.
So, go right in that space, grab the yarn, pull through, you have three loops on your
hook, grab the yarn and pull through all three loops, yarn over, through the loop, yarn over,
and then pull through all three loops.
Just in case that's tricky, you can see there's those two loops right there.
You want to go right underneath them, right in that space at the top.
Hopefully you guys can see well enough where it's supposed to go.
Repeat this process all the way across to the end of the row, and that's it.
It's as easy as that to make half double crochet stitches.
