Super Mega Strong Wind On Crib Goch
We're on the Northridge scree slope. There's a bit of a breeze in the air
leading out to Crib Goch. I'll tell you what, Crib Goch is going to be a fun one in this kind of wind.
It's done this a few times. The wind dies down, you stand up and suddenly BAM!
Alan is learning why you don't see many people this side of Crib Goch and there's a good reason.
It's not easy access.
I've said to Alan we're going to stay away from that edge.
He puts me in his gap all the time because it's disgusting.
It's not raining.
Always have positives to be found.
Yeah, I do actually.
Just chilling out on the Northridge for a bit. As you do.
As you do. Swing your leg over and just get on this side. It's a lot more space to move about.
Awesome. Rest.
And the views just opened up. Now you can see where we are.
That's the best thing about mist is when it just suddenly clears.
You just get that extra impact.
Look at the cloud rushing past there.
And look how quickly it's gone.
And it's just pouring out of there as well.
And just think loads of people will not be climbing Crib Goch today because it was covered in
rain and wind and so we'll probably have it to ourselves.
And that is why I never bail on taking people up Crib Goch.
It would have to be either an electric storm or, obviously,
winter conditions for me to not come up here because I just think it's perfectly doable
and there's every chance this is going to happen later on.
Yeah, that's what they say.
Stirling and the wind has popped the ice out.
How are you feeling, Alan?
Oh, I'm looking forward to this.
Our rock's completely dried out. The wind's blowing us into the rock.
Obviously, there's no one else up here with us so we have the ridge to ourselves.
Let's carry on.
Absolute mental conditions.
Yeah.
Okay, this bit, we do have to get a bit higher up.
So make sure you've got your right hand on the outside there
so you can get pushed into the rock.
Look at it just pouring out of there.
Yeah, amazing.
That's so crazy with the grey-blue and stuff.
Oh, man, I just love it.
We're lucky to get the sun, mate.
We're really lucky to get the sun and no rain.
Yeah, do you think? Yeah.
Hey, this is the end of the ridge, by the way.
The ridge ends just here.
Then we go around these pinnacle parts.
Oh, I see.
Yeah, and then we go down and up.
That wasn't so bad.
The easiest bits.
Now we're just stumbling all over, aren't we?
It must be so tiring.
We're going six hours all the way to one.
You let your guard down because you're just in the hard part.
A little sunny cut-out here.
Oh, man.
We've gone into that.
It'll be sunset in two hours anyway.
I love how bright it is there and how dark it is there.
No, that was not.
The only casualty today on Crib Gough
was Alan's glove.
In fact, we might be able to find it.
That's a cool shot.
You've got the clouds just flying over the top here
but silent.
It's so awesome, these conditions.
I'm going to focus on this bit now
because, like I said,
this is where you get complacent.
What a shot, though.
What a beautiful shot.
