AND it's totally wearable for at least one more day (Aislyn got 2 more). It's easy, CUTE, and so trendy. I see hairstyles like this all over Instagram and Pinterest. And the best thing is that it works on SO many different lengths of hair.......everyone can do these top braids.....even if it ends with just the braids or morphs into the ponytail of varying lengths. You will need: A comb to part with 4 easy to pull out hair ties 1-2 strong ponytails Topsy tail curling iron or wand if you want to curl the ponytail This hairstyle took me about 15-20 minutes, with the curling. This will be the longest to expect. It's great for beginner to intermediate hairstylists.

Hey it's Aislinn from Pretty Hair is Fun and today we're going to show you a cool braided
ponytail.
Let's get started.
Okay, the first step to do this awesome little braided hairstyle is I parted off four sections
on top of her head in about one inch, an inch and a half sections.
You can see and it's just back to the crown of her head, back to here and then I just
put the rest of her hair tied off so it's out of the way and we're going to be braiding
each of these four sections.
So I'm going to start here and I spritz the front of her hair right here with a little
bit of water just to kind of get some of those baby hairs in.
Okay so I'm going to be doing a Dutch braid here so I'm just going to pick up a small
little section in front, split it into three equal sections, then I'm going to be bringing
it under and then under before I start bringing in hair and then I'm just going to start adding
hair just from that parted off section and just keep adding it to each side.
I like Dutch braids for this because it makes them pop up a little bit more than a French
braid especially on these smaller braids.
I picked up all the hair in that section so I'm just going to braid down a little bit
because I'm going to pull these into a ponytail so I want to have enough of a braid to reach
into that ponytail.
Then I'm just going to put in a little hair tie, something that can be pulled out easily
when I pull it into a ponytail.
You can come and pull these a little bit too.
Then I'm just going to go to my next section and just do the exact same thing.
Okay so our next step is to put this in a ponytail so I'm just going to pull this section
out and then I'm going to have her hold all of these out of the way while I sweep the
rest of it into a ponytail.
So for these it's just helpful just to brush where you want the ponytail so I always will
brush up and I brush a lot and comb a lot just to get it smoother than where I want
it.
One other trick to getting it smooth is to take your spray bottle, just go around the
base of the head, spray the part that you want nice and smooth, that will help keep
little fly aways up and I just hold it out, the hair out with my hand, not close to the
head until I've got it brushed in nice and smooth and I'll come back with my comb and
go over it a little bit with the fine teeth.
Now I've got it in where I want it so I'm going to bring these back and just lay it
over the top.
One by one I'm going to pull these out and just hold on to them with my bottom hand.
This is the tricky part.
I'm going to use two elastics just because her hair is so thick and this is going to
be tight and I just gather it all together up here.
This also gives it a little bit more of a lift using two if you need to if you have
a lot of hair like Easton does.
Okay, our next step is we're going to wrap this ponytail so I'm going to grab a section
underneath and wrap it around those elastics and I'm going to use my topsy tail so I'm
just going to come underneath or as close to underneath as I can, stick it through those
elastics, put my hair through, hold on to the hair tight and then come down and hold
the pony while I pull that through.
Okay, and the final step is I'm just going to curl her ponytail just to make it look
cute and sassy and then we're done.
Okay, I put thermal protectant on her hair already and I'm going to be using my one inch
wand.
We're just going to curl all this hair.
Okay, her curls are all done.
That is our braided ponytail hairstyle.
