We love camping and I'm excited to try and go a lot this summer. Each time I go I learn a little bit more about what we need and how to camp with little kids. This trip was no different. But the lesson we learned was how to camp with kids in the rain. It was not my favorite, but we made the most out of the time that we had. The kids were cold but I think they still liked it... Also! We got a new tent! It was huge and so dark but it did not work well in the rain. That is, whenever we had to open the door the rain would get in. And we couldn't open any of the side windows or rain would get it. I don't know how I feel about it... Thanks for watching! Don't forget to subscribe.

You know when you go to Costco and you see like all the really cool things and
you're like someday we're gonna get that because it looks really cool. Well this
is the trip that we did that.
Here's the baby. Hi guys welcome back to
Breffington. I'm Tara and today we're going on a family camping trip. It's gonna
be rainy and wet but it's gonna be a lot of fun. So we are on our way. It's just
about an hour away from our home which is so cool living out here in the
Pacific Northwest. We get to do stuff like that. I'm sure there's other places
that that's a thing but in Arizona you kind of have to go a little farther to
get to a good camping spot. Anyway we're on our way. We're really excited. One
because it's our first camping trip of the summer. I'm hoping to do a lot more
and then also because we got a brand new tent and it's gonna be it's gonna be
really great. So we're excited to get it set up especially because it's raining
so we're gonna need some shelter but yeah so come along with us on our family
camping trip. Four kids and a puppy and two adults who might be over their heads
with all this stuff. We're good. It's gonna be fine.
There's our spot. Spot number 10. We had to get online. Create an account on
recreation.gov. Just online and then I was able to choose the campsites.
They're all pretty much booked out but because because it's kind of
rainy weather. I found one that was available tonight.
Cool. And you paid like 30 bucks? 30 bucks. $39 I think is like the total
charge after like fees and everything like that. Cool. Let's do it guys.
It's gonna be raining. I'll get your raincoats out okay? Okay so we got a new tent and you
know when you go to Costco and you see like all the really cool things and
you're like someday we're gonna get that because it looks really cool.
Well this is the trip that we did that. Zach went to Costco and he calls me he's
like should we get this big awesome 10 person tent with the darkroom situation
going on and I said do it and we're just gonna unpack it get it going and try and
get out of the rain because guys we knew it was gonna be rainy tonight but we
just it I mean it's raining it's not like a it's not too bad okay let's get
the tent up. Okay darkroom technology, 10 person, fast pitch system, ePort for like
electronic stuff so we're gonna kind of just open this thing up and see
hopefully review it for other families if they're interested in getting it it's
the big one I think exclusively sold by Costco so anyway I hope this works.
So there was just like like a million things to bring we have like camping
chairs for everyone, the tent, warm clothes, blankets for sleeping you know like
camping stuff obviously it's like it's whatever but the one one of the things I
forgot was a coat for the baby I got two coats for everyone else in the family
but I didn't get one coat for the little tiny baby so loser I'm just a loser
right now but he seems okay he's kind of like I think he's just interested in
what's going on right now so he's not I don't know I think he's okay. You okay?
But you still have lots of good things that you did. Thanks Piper. Piper says I'm not doing bad I'm doing good and we've got a brand new cord for the puppy so
we kind of like you know nailed it into the ground over there and got a big long
leash so she can explore but she's still figuring it out hope it's not too
bad. Okay get back to setting up the tent.
Whoa that thing is huge!
Okay so here's the inside of our tent we've opened some of these windows so we
have some light in here which makes all the difference yesterday we couldn't
because the rain would come in so that is definitely a thing for me is that we
couldn't open any of the windows because the rain would come in and there was
just no way to keep the rain out except to have everything closed all the time
so we really like the tent the best part was that everyone slept until eight
o'clock it was amazing they normally wake up at like 630 or 7 normally at
home so it was really awesome to have it be super dark in here so that the kids
didn't wake up but yeah gotta kind of figure out if that's what you and your
family need or not also please don't think this is like a sponsored post at
all we just thought it'd be fun to get this tent and try it out I wish it was
sponsored that would be pretty awesome
okay so that was a little bit of a jump it is now morning time last night was I
would have thought this trip was a fail last night but this morning since it's
not raining and everything's fine and people slept really good it was not a
fail no it's been really good it hasn't been like the fun magical camping trip
that I that I imagined but it was a it was a good first experience camping this
summer but the kids really loved the tent they love getting into their
sleeping bags when they climbed into their sleeping bags Porter was like this
is the best part about camping and I thought that's not usually my favorite
part of camping so I don't know it was fine but we're here now that got a good
fire going for us so that we can stay a little warm Brady did good even without
a jacket he was awesome slept all night Zach was so good even though he slept on
the ground didn't get an air mattress like mommy and Porter was good too
found a stick good girl what do you think about the tent Zach? I thought that was
great I feel like the awesome things about it where it was super easy to put
together it has like this hub in the middle there were two that were colored
that we quickly figured out like certain stakes went to those lines and all the
rest went to the others super easy to put up it took less than 10 minutes and
in the rain it's a lot bigger than I was imagining so it barely fits on our like
pad so that's a consideration I think it's 14 feet by 10 feet and I think it
like did a good job keeping things wet except it was raining as we were setting
it up so it got really wet on the inside my only complaint about the whole thing
is there's not like any kind of pole that keeps the rain fly like away from
the entrance so every time we would kind of open the door in and out it would
drop so that was like the one thing that was like a bummer they do have all the
different like guy lines and all like the the cords that you can like pull it
tight which would achieve that but if it's already raining and all that like
it kind of stinks to have to do all that when you set up a tent I've had other
ones where you just put in like the pole and it kind of keeps it away from the
entrance so you can walk in and out and not get water all in the tent so that was a bit of a bummer but
overall like the darkroom technology is legit like the kids slept till 8 even
though the Sun was out at like 530 so that was awesome and I think it was hard
when we were setting up because it was already getting dark but we will have a
lantern next time so we can light up really well the inside of the tent so we
don't have to have that be an issue because it was so dark we couldn't see anything as
we're setting up we had to have all of our flashlights and stuff so just get a
lantern if you have it so it'll be light inside when you want it to be and dark
when you don't there's the blue jay right up there in that tree
and just like that it's all packed away well like it's super easy for setup but
it's like not super clear the instructions anything like yeah like the
quickest way to fold it because if we're rolling it all attached right okay so we
have the whole camp all packed up and we're heading home it is just about like
11 o'clock 11 15 I would have liked again we wanted to go on a hike in
things but I don't know the way things turned out I just kind of want to get
everyone home and make sure Brady is nice and warm and yeah but all in all
this was it fulfilled part of what I wanted for my camping dreams is that we
can come we can set up camp and and do it and do it so often that it's not like
reinventing the wheel every single time but I did have fun and I we just need to
do it again on a more sunny day and we'll I think the kids will have a lot
more fun and we'll be able to explore a little bit more really excited about
Scotty and how much fun she had I hope she's didn't wear herself out too much
we like the Coleman dark tent situation it was a great size for our family I
thought everyone had plenty of room and all of our stuff had a space so that was
really good and yeah so that was our camping trip guys thanks for watching
