Hurricane Nicole on Georgia's North River in Saint Mary's Georgia
Hey y'all it's Chris and Tammy and we are out in our front yard. We're going to show you how the
water's rising. It is high tide here. I thought it was high tide 30 minutes ago but it continues
to rise a little bit so apparently it's still rising a little bit. So we're going to get out
here and show you what it looks like. We are on the North River across the street. They're directly
on their waterfront and so we're going to walk out here and show you guys what it looks like.
And the marsh is over there on the other side. Yeah and then there's a uh down through here
and then you can see most of our street now does have water on it so the water is coming up good.
Now we have never seen the water this high have we Chris? Nope. No. If we were to get a really big
hurricane this was only a category one uh we might be in trouble here right Chris? Yep.
We still got we still got it'd have to get three or four feet higher. Yeah probably four feet
higher. Now she has a swimming pool so I'm thinking the water's in her pool by now um
so that's not good for her. Me and her were out here talking 30 minutes ago when we thought it
was the highest it was going to get but it's obviously gotten deep. I'm going to walk y'all
down through here since I've got on water shoes and he don't. We'll just see how it looks
on this side of the neighborhood. This is the marsh side. Now we're going to go up this driveway
as much as I can. I'm not going to get deeper than my knees though if you're wondering. There's
a huge boat. Now this water right here I'm going to show you how deep it is right here.
I would really like for y'all to see the marsh side and how it looks. So we're going to walk
down here. If you're just tuning in we're coming to you live from St. Marys, Georgia. We are on the
North River. This is the marsh front side of our neighborhood. There was a bird in the yard.
Might see some fish before it's over. Trying to decide which way to go. That side looks really
deep. I think I'll go this side. We live down in St. Marys, Georgia and I wanted you to see
how much the water has risen in our neighborhood. I'm going to walk around here just a little bit
They are on the marsh across the street. This is across the street from my neighbor's yard.
This is the neighbor I get oranges and lemons from and this house next to them is actually
pretty much abandoned. You can tell by looking at it from the last storm we had. It's still got
some siding missing. I am almost to my knees in water. You can see that big boat they got out
there. A neighbor owns a lot. He just parks their boat here. So this is getting up pretty high
out here.
It really is
pretty spooky
and the road out there I'm sure
is flooded. That's the causeway that comes over. There's a truck down it. He's getting down it.
He's going through water now.
Now he's stopped. He may have to stop. He can't get through. There he goes.
I wanted you guys to see. There goes a car. They got through. Hey y'all, it's Tammy from
Collard Valley Cooks. We are on the North River, St. Mary's, Georgia. That's the coast of Georgia.
I wanted to give y'all a look at how the water's rising here. Now the tide should be at high tide.
That's the manhole bubbling. We are on sewer here.
This is the highest we've seen this. We've only lived here two years
but now we've got neighbors that's lived here 40 years and this is probably going to be the
highest they've seen it. This is our house and our yard so it's starting to get into the yard
but we've still got a good three feet to go before it were to
hurt us I think but now Nancy's yard is getting her house is it's getting really close to the
foundation. It's getting really close to her foundation. I bet it's in her swimming pool.
I'll show y'all how deep it is on my legs.
I gotta watch my step y'all.
So I was afraid it might get in her swimming pool.
It's getting pretty close but not quite there yet. Look at their yard. Lord I have to be careful.
I'm not even watching what I'm doing. Water. Water.
Yeah y'all have a good day. Bye y'all. Bye Nancy.
It is pretty deep y'all. Going down these driveways it gets really deep.
Thank goodness our house is doing good. We got some water in the yard but that's it
but those people that live on the marsh they're just so much closer to the water
than we are but our drop our whole road is flooded.
Got pretty high. Hope y'all enjoyed my little video.
