That's where we are tracking some showers this afternoon. This is a live
look from our grills melbourne camera. You can see dark skies and a lot of
showers over there. Let's check in with Noah once again. So no, it was really
windy earlier today. How'd that play a role? It's still going to be gusty
tomorrow. This is the eastern side of bertha. Okay, it actually got up to
about 30 miles an hour today. So uh, in a little breezy day today, breezy
again tomorrow, a lot of clouds out there, some sun though in Orlando, but
it's definitely on the partly to mostly cloudy side of things out there
on this monday evening. All of this is influenced by bertha developing in the
gulf. But as we learned by the weekend, we talked about it on friday. If the
system came across florida, we would have had a ton of rain. I'll show you
that coming up in the news at six. It's going away from us. And when you get so
far on the eastern side, you get actually dry air that wraps in, which
is why the rain has been kind of sporadic for us. Been a lot more rain,
almost a foot of rain parts of the Tampa area. So through the evening, one
or two downpours, but we've probably passed the peak for today. One little
downpour in Palm Coast that's moving to the north should be done in Daytona. One
little good downpour went through Ocala. It's up through Gainesville over the
next 15 to 25 minutes. The biggest downpour on board right now is moving
through Brevard County to be where that accident is and on 95 here shortly into
Cocoa area. Biggest part of the downpour is right from Palm Shores back
towards South Patrick Shores. Right now, a couple of flashes of lightning,
just generic summer downpour rain rates are about 4 to 5 inches per hour. So in
other words, you get an inch of rain in about 14 15 minutes or so heading up
towards South Cocoa Beach and the winds while they are gusty, they're not
severe, severe winds being 60. So if you're up in Cocoa Beach or South Cocoa
Beach heads up for some 30 35 mile an hour gusts coming in here momentarily.
And again, all of that is moving south to north on the eastern side of
tropical depression number two, which is soon to be Bertha. Winds of 35
miles an hour. It's moving northwest at three miles an hour. Here's the cone.
If you missed it from earlier, should become a tropical storm tonight at the
latest tomorrow morning. Ah, landfall southern Louisiana Wednesday. Other than
the remnants in the south texas friday into saturday, but it will probably
fall apart by them. Here's the zoom in. Now it will reach his peak intensity as
a decent tropical storm on Wednesday, just off the coast of Pensacola. Then
you can see, uh, that area of Lake Pontchartrain around New Orleans is
gonna get pretty prolonged east to west when there will be actually a decent
storm surge for being just a tropical storm. You gotta remember with storm
surges, the angle of attack that makes all the big difference. And this has
got a prolonged period where all the wind is going like this on the eastern
side of the system, pushing water in the Lake Pontchartrain. While it's not
gonna be extreme, 3 to 5 ft, 2 to 4 ft, something like that into the New
Orleans area around Gulfport as well. Then down towards home in the southern
parts of Louisiana before it weekends. Now, this graphic I think tells the
story and it is very rare. The Hurricane Center has discussed this in
their forecast. You can read on their website. It is very rare in the gulf for
a tropical system to be sheared from the north. What that does is push all of
the weather on the west side. You may remember over the years if you've been
here in florida for a while, we always tell you in the weather report that the
dirty side, the bad side is the east side. Well, 95% of the time that is the
case. Not in this scenario. The wind is blowing really strong in the high
atmosphere from north to south that pushes all the weather left of the
center. See all really heavy rain over the gulf, but only about 2 to 5 inches
of rain up in the florida panhandle over the next couple of days. So still
some storms tomorrow, many low end, but the heat, our next big story, mostly
dry Wednesday, thursday, friday back into the upper nineties. All right,
time for our mystery camera. And I think no, I kind of ruined it for all
of us. I have no, I apologize. Forgive me. I have said I will not be doing
that in the breaks anymore. I mean, right. Do we agree? I agree. Watch it
not be like the Hudson River in new york. What if I just said that was
Hoboken on the other side? Do I get credit for that too? Right. Where do
you think the camera is? We're looking at Hoboken, right? Aren't we? Uh, not
positive to make that argument. Can't I can't tell you for sure. Okay. 24 7
concierge policy to fulfill any request as long as it's legal. Interesting.
The Morgan Stanley building was famous for its digital displays central park
larger than the entire principality of Monaco. Pretty to walk around there.
No, I has agreed no longer to make guesses on the first hit. Correct. Keep
them to yourself so that I would have totally been wrong. So you just got,
you know, I appreciate. No, I also would have been wrong. I didn't think I was
new york. You're the only smart. I'm the worst. I know I'm the worst. I'm
sorry everybody. I'm guilty of doing the same when there's a ballpark in
there. Yeah. So we're gonna get, we'll get, we'll get on you. I'll stop as
well this week. Yes. We've made a pack. Got it. All right.
