So hey, welcome to another build. Today I'm going to be showing you how to build Hype.
This is just a 10 minute build. This is really, it doesn't take any effort whatsoever. I mean,
makes you wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Instead of more complicated, expensive projects,
when you could just be doing this. I got a straight rule. Mine's metal. This is my craft
knife. I put a fresh blade on. That's always important to put a fresh blade. Today we're
only going to be cutting card, but you never know what you might be cutting next.
I've also got this Uhu, Uhu, all purpose adhesive. We've got a pencil. This is a Palomino,
very soft lead in this one. Very easy to erase any mistakes you might have made.
We're trying to appeal to young people here. So you're going to want to emoji
it up a bit. So I've, I've gone with gold card here. This is about 180 stock and you're going
to need a silver Sharpie or some other kind of silver ink. You're going to want to draw out your
box net on the gold card. This can be any size you want. I'm going for five by three inches
with a one inch, one inch side, and then about a half inch on the, on the little tongues,
on the little tongues you use to glue it in. I'm using my straight rule to draw this. It has inches
on one side, trying to use the grid on my cutting board as a reference as well, so that I'm always
parallel to the lines on that. Now you've got your net, you're going to want to grab your craft knife.
Again, I'm using the straight rule just to make sure that my cutting is precise. You'll see that
in one motion, I'm cutting the top side and the underside. That makes sure that everything is
still parallel. You're not losing a little bit here or there. Now you've got your net, you can
go ahead and fold down the lines using your straight rule again as a guide, keeping everything
straight. Then I'm going to place that to one side. Next step, of course, is the letters. We're going to
use the same card. We've got loads of that. They sell it in huge, huge big sheets. You don't need
a second stock of card. We're going to cut our letters just straight out of this. Next step is to
silver them up, otherwise they're just going to look the same. You don't have to go with silver.
I've gone with silver because I think it complements the metallic gold pretty well. This
color palette is designed to make you think of extravagance, decadence, things that you
will never own, things that you can never have. So I'm going to go ahead and fill these in with
sharpie, left to right, same direction, just like you're shading on a painting or your notebook or
coloring book. Now the trick with adhesive like this is you do not want to use too much. Just the
smallest amount, particularly with light materials, you really don't need that much. Just go ahead and
apply the lightest amount of pressure to the tube as you're going along. Then you're
going to want to fold the box in, make sure all the lines and corners are in the proper place,
and just apply a little bit of pressure to that lid. Run your fingers up and down
the corners and just hold that down for three to five minutes until it's set. You're going to want
to do the same on the other side. Remember, very little amounts of glue. If you use too much, it's
going to squeeze out around the edges. So leave that to dry for a few minutes and there you have
it. That is your Hype. You have successfully built Hype. Now what you do with the Hype that you've
built is up to you, and ultimately that will determine whether it was worth it.
