How good is that, beautiful running fresh water stream, right at the campsite.
Well, G'day everyone.
Big hike in through the bush.
Got about a 15 kilo pack.
We waited on the scales that I left.
A beautiful walk through the bush, as you would have just seen on the way in.
And I've just stumbled across this beautiful clearing here, as you can see.
Very hard thing to find in the bush, but it's here.
There is a bit of farmland nearby, so it could have been once grazed land or something growing on it.
But yeah, I'm going to set up camp here.
Got a beautiful stream running there, I don't know if you can hear it.
Definitely be checking that out in the next few hours.
But the goal right now, get camp set up.
Get some of my hot layers off, I've got thermals underneath.
I'm prepared for the weather, it's meant to be about 3 or 4 degrees tonight.
So, going to put a test on the Naturehike tent and the sleeping bag.
But yeah, I'm going to get camp set up, and we'll see you soon.
Sleeping bag.
Sleeping mat.
And this time, I didn't forget the 2 by 2 meter tarp, which I'll use in the vestibule area here.
I've also got the Naturehike chair, as well.
You would have seen me use them in previous videos.
This one's super easy, just clicks and packs together.
There we go.
It's just beautiful up in here.
This beautiful pool, super clear.
Quite often I've seen freshwater fish species.
Alright everyone, so, I suppose you're wondering what I'm having for dinner tonight.
Trying something a bit different tonight.
It's from a brand called Go Native.
New Zealand made heat and eat meal for the outdoorsmen.
This is butter chicken flavour.
And all I'm going to do is, I've got a pot, boil some water for 2 minutes, put this in it, and that's it.
Done.
And I'm going to add a bit of water to this.
Instant mashed potato.
And then I can mix it all in with each other, and it's going to be real yum.
And then, while I'm eating that, I'm going to top it off with this.
Haiku IPA.
Check out the can. Pretty cool artwork on the IPA craft beers nowadays.
This is from Deep Creek.
So yeah, I'm going to go put that in the creek now, somewhere where it's not going to wash away.
And that's going to keep it chilled for later on, when we have our dinner.
Just been and collected a few sticks from my little twig stove for later.
Get everything prepped now.
And it's all done.
No mucking around in the dark.
Tinny little stove.
You'll see what I mean when I set it up.
So, twig stove.
Nice and flat.
The trick is, you have to assemble it.
Supposedly it's titanium, but I think it's just some cheap stainless.
Right, so here it is.
Got about 6 or 7 pieces to it, something like that.
That goes in there.
Then we need the other side.
This one.
So that goes like that.
So it just all clips in with each other.
It's pretty, pretty simple.
Kind of like Lego.
This one goes in the bottom.
There we go. That's it.
So it's pretty small.
And we just get our little griller things that go over the top.
So I could put a billy on here, or a pan.
Cook some food.
I'll see if I can get it going later.
With my flint and steel.
But yeah, that's it anyway.
It's a tiny little stove.
Low heat.
Well, this is almost boiled.
I don't know if you heard that, that was my tummy.
Growling for food.
Once this is cooked, I'm going to pour a bit of water from there
into my mashed potato packet.
And I think I'll use this as my plate today.
You can eat them out of these, but I'm going to mix them together.
So the bowl will become the plate.
There we go.
In it goes.
Alright.
Dinner is served.
Okay.
There's our butter chicken.
That can just sit there for a sec.
My mashed potato.
My stomach is just rumbling.
As you can see in there, it's just powdered.
Powdered potato.
Add about a cup of water, so.
We'll just do the old.
Add a bit.
Bit of a mushroom.
Oh, yum.
That looks good.
It's hot.
Look at that.
Mmm.
Beautiful.
Right, so we'll just shut that over.
Shut them both over.
They can cook there.
I'm going to have it on my arse then.
Anyway, I've got my beer.
There we go.
I've got my beer and it's nice and cold too.
I've been in the stream for about two hours.
Yieldy.
Okay.
Butter chicken.
Shall we open it up?
Nice and hot in there.
There we go.
I bet that doesn't look very appetising.
What do you reckon?
Let me tilt this camera a bit.
Here we go.
There's our butter chicken.
Looks pretty good.
Smells delicious.
With some mashed potato.
That's a pretty hearty meal for a bush meal.
Right, let's try a bit of this.
Some more pork out.
Alright, butter chicken.
Mmm.
That is brilliant.
Little bit of spice there.
Mashed potato.
Mmm.
That is a rewarding meal.
After that big heavy hike in.
Mmm.
Yum.
The butter chicken tastes like restaurant butter chicken.
And the mashed potato tastes like, you know,
typical instant mashed potato but it's yummy.
Mmm.
We're forgetting something.
IPA.
From Deep Creek.
The strong beer.
Let's have a taste.
Thought it was going to be fizzed up in from the hike in.
It's cold.
Very cold.
It's very fruity.
Very, very, very strong fruity flavour.
Mmm.
That's nice.
Still got a bit of dinner left.
Mmm.
Go Native, you've done a great job.
Of those meals.
Sun's almost fully down.
Well, it's over the horizon, you know what I mean.
It's almost fully dark.
Here we go.
Cheers, everyone.
Look at that.
Hot smoking.
In my signature cup.
Whoo.
Beautiful.
What a beautiful night.
Chilly.
But beautiful.
Here we go.
That's better.
What do you reckon?
Not as bad.
They get real soft.
Mmm.
That's good.
Another one.
Bloody hell.
Got to be quick before these.
These bugs move quick.
What they are, little bloody sand fly type things.
Anyway, I'm jumping in bed.
It is freezing.
It's got to be around 3, 4 degrees.
Yeah.
Should get a good night's sleep.
I've got a movie to watch on my phone.
Yeah.
I'm just going to stay in a sleeping bag.
Because it is freezing.
So, with that said.
See you all tomorrow.
Hope you enjoyed the video so far.
See you in the morning.
See you later.
Good morning, everyone.
Wow.
That was a rough night.
Super cold.
I was warm in the blanket.
But I just couldn't.
I had trouble getting to sleep.
And I woke up just about every hour.
So, yeah.
That's a pretty rough night.
But it's the morning now.
It's 7.30.
I'm going to get up.
Make some brekkie.
Phew.
It's a chilly morning.
Oh, those boots are freezing.
Damn it.
Boots on.
Boots have got frost around the top.
I don't know if you can see that.
Frost around the top of them.
From being in the tent.
So, yeah.
Pretty chilly.
Good morning, everyone.
Up and out of bed.
As you can see, I'm all wrapped up.
Because it is freezing.
I need to invest in a good pair of gloves now.
Just going to see if I can get this gaffer to go in for my brekkie.
What have we got for brekkie?
Rolled oats, which I'll cook in the pot with some water.
And I'll slice a bit of banana in there.
So, a nice healthy and warm breakfast.
A nice blend of porridge here.
Mixing up well.
Yep, got my porridge.
Yum.
Nice and hot.
Good slice of banana to go in it.
Cheers, everyone.
It's a bit thick.
But it'll do.
If I was in a survival situation, it would keep me alive.
I wish I brought brown sugar.
Can't remember everything.
Oh, that was yum.
Good solid breakfast for the hike out.
Fortunately, most of it's downhill.
It is a bit of an uphill slog on the way in here.
Not too bad.
I think I'm going to start packing some stuff up.
And then, yeah, we'll be on our hike out of here.
All right, everyone, I've got to make a move.
You wouldn't believe it.
It's about to piss down.
It's raining right now.
You can't see it, but it's spitting.
So I'm going to make a move.
I'll try and record what I can on my trip back.
But I need to get to a place of shelter
because everything's packed away now.
Worst case scenario,
I'll just bunker under some panga trees or something.
But, yeah, on the way out.
It's been a good night anyway.
Hope you've all enjoyed it.
See you on the way out.
Bye.
Woo.
Holy moly.
It is absolutely bucketing down.
I've made it back to a little shelter along the trail.
I've still got about a k to go.
So at least here I can prep my bags, raincoat,
which is in the base.
Cover the bag.
I've got enough protection myself.
But, yeah, I don't really want the bag to get soaked through.
Well, everyone, it's the end of this trip.
Back at the car park.
The rain's just backing off now.
I managed to capture some glimpses of the walk out.
But, yeah, it was pretty heavy for the old cell phone.
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed this trip.
I had a pretty good time.
Learned a few things.
Probably going to have to upgrade my sleeping bag at some point
for the colder stuff.
But, yeah, had some good food
and some great company.
Thank you for sticking around.
If you like what I'm doing at the moment,
leave a comment.
Let me know that this outdoor camping stuff is awesome.
If you don't like it, let me know.
There will be bits of fishing in between.
But, yeah, during the winter everything slows down.
And I love my camping and outdoors in that.
So, yeah, if you haven't subscribed,
hit that subscribe button,
which will be down there somewhere.
Give the video a thumbs up.
And we will see you all in the next video.
Cheers later.
