SAIDPUR Exploring the beautiful village Pakistan Vlog
Hi guys, welcome back to my channel. Today I've traveled just a few kilometers outside of Islamabad
and I've come to a place called Saidpur village and this is a lovingly restored village originally
from the second century and the heart of it is the Sikh Gurdwara just behind me and the Hindu
temple at the rear and now it's been restored in a way that reflects the original feeling and
ambiance of the village when it first started. I've just come inside the Sikh Gurdwara and it's
designed so that it's quite cool in the hot summer months and then in winter it's nice and warm.
Obviously when it was designed in the second century there was no electricity so there's a
lot of different windows at the top designed for light to come down and then all of these areas
for the candles to light up the building. It's a very pretty complex actually, there's flowers
everywhere and then one of my favorite parts of it is just over here. As well as the Sikh Gurdwara
there is this absolutely beautiful building which was a Hindu temple and then actually for about 40
years it was used as a school and then in 2005 it's been completely restored and now obviously it
has a protected status which is excellent because it's so beautifully designed. I'll take you inside.
So all around the outside there's pictures of the old village as well as dignitaries that have come
to visit like the Duke of Edinburgh and you can see all of the areas where the statues would
have been as well as at the end down here. So this is the fireplace because of course in winter it
actually gets quite cold. It's nice and cool in here despite it being really hot outside.
Original. These are original.
See the original mosaics here and the inscribed names as well.
Everyone say hello. Hi.
Very popular with tourists. It goes from Karachi
but it has a lot of local tourists coming from Islamabad as well.
Obviously international tourists too. Have a nice day.
The whole village is actually tiered and from right at the top now you get a lovely view
especially over the Gurdwara below and there's flowers absolutely everywhere.
I presume that's on purpose but it really gives a nice atmosphere. Lots of colour.
So across the stream is the village proper and in some ways it's very traditional of course
with the narrow streets and the coverings to keep the area cool but in amongst the fruit shops
and the tailors there's a lot of modern aspects. There's barbers, there's a lot of phone shops too.
And although it actually seems quite small apparently there's 5,000 people living here
in fairly close quarters. Hello. There's a nice breeze going through as well so it's
quite a lot cooler. We're a tiny bit elevated here so it is generally a bit cooler than Islamabad
anyway. I hope that you guys enjoyed exploring Saidpur village with me. It's only a couple of
kilometres outside of Islamabad so it's a highly recommended day trip from the city.
Thank you so much for watching and make sure to subscribe.
