I stayed in a lake house at Lago de Coatepeque El Salvador
Another day, another bus. I'm in Santa Ana at the moment.
Heading towards Lago de Coatepeque, which is apparently one of the nicest areas to visit in El Salvador.
It's about a 45 minute journey. Apparently there's incredible views on the way, so I'm pretty excited.
I'm still quite hungry at the moment.
But luckily, whenever you get on a bus in El Salvador, people are selling all kinds of things.
This guy's got dish soaps. The guy behind us has avocados.
So you can do your full day of shopping before you even arrive at your destination.
So I got off at the last stop that the bus makes next to the lake.
And now it's like a 3 or 4 minute walk to my hotel.
I'm staying at Hotel Equinocio, which goes right onto the lake.
There's not actually that many places to stay along here.
Especially if you want to have a lakeside terrace, which I definitely do.
Good exercise, this.
Look at the size of this guy. He is so huge.
For a bit of perspective, there's my hand.
So I've just arrived at the hotel, and this is why you want to stay by the lake.
Out of my balcony. Check out that view.
So this is a hotel, but it's also sold as an Airbnb as well.
So you can actually rent the entire place.
There's an incredible pool down there, and then a lake house.
And they rent out kayaks as well.
So I'm going to go onto the lake in a bit and have an explore.
This is just the perfect day for it as well.
So this is the beautiful pool, which looks out over the lake.
It's pretty cold in there, but you need that with the hot sun here.
And then if we head down, just at the end of the promenade here,
there's a little lake house, which you can actually stay in if you want to.
And they have jet skis and kayaks, and a few different boats that you can go out onto the lake on.
Now if you come along to the end, you can see there's actually not that many buildings along the lake.
You can see the jetties going along.
So even though it's one of the top tourist destinations in El Salvador,
you do kind of feel like you've got it to yourself.
There's a little island as well just behind me.
So I might try and go over there on the kayaks later on.
It's pretty windy today.
There's actually quite a lot of waves.
This is the island in the middle of the lake.
And there's a ferry over there that can take your cars over.
And I've tried to head there, but I'm going pretty slowly.
There's some really lovely buildings along the lake.
I think a lot of these are privately owned, but some of them rent out on Airbnb.
