Then we hope things are going well here
Today there is relatively a lot of wind
All of them will come back 10 15 boats
The returnees With a
damn canoe with 20 people they're there with about two old guys
In a phase of major life decisions one reflects on what truly matters
Looking back the moments in which we experienced something extraordinary were the most influential
That's why we decided to go on the journey of our lives in a sailboat and discover the world
We are before a bridge beneath which we do not know if we will fit
Now we've taken down the sails and Jonas is up there testing it to see if it fits
We should try it anyway
Damn it
Yes the antenna would definitely have broken
We are not on the North Sea today but on the Seeland lakes because there is too much wind
So that we couldn't go to sea and are now practically sailing across the lakes today all the way to
Vlissingen Hopefully we will make it there
We've already had a few showers here but they passed quickly so it's all half as bad
And we have to drive with the motor because the wind is coming straight from the front again
Was that it already
It really pours
After the rain shower we encountered 30-knot winds and high waves on the same day on the East Scheldt
But they then found another harbor and relaxedly sailed along the canal the next day all the way to Vlissingen and arrived safely there
We are in Vlissingen today in the city harbor right in the middle of the city
And the next two days will have a lot of wind and we don't want to do it or can't sail in that wind
That's why we're staying here and looking at the city and yes it's starting now
Are you
ready Yes
Let's
go Model
We're looking for a nice place to eat
We are leaving the harbor of Vlissingen now and heading towards Blankenberge under engine power because there is probably not enough wind
If it's going to be a very easy trip then let's go
Actually we had planned to go only to Blankenberge but the motor trip worked so well because there was little wind
That we made it directly to Newport in Belgium
We didn't stay in Newport for very long just one night and the next day went straight on to Dunkirk in France
Also we are now in France
It's a really great feeling because we're finally somewhere in another country which sounds somewhat exotic
We stayed only one night in Dunkirk and then wanted to go to Calais
It was indeed very windy we thought were prepared but then it really started
We are now in Dunkirk and want to drive to Calais
Today there is quite a bit of wind even here in the harbor but we have cleaned up the entire deck now
Everything that could cause disturbance has been cleared away and they are now ready to focus solely on the sails
So it can go and it will be a pretty wild sailing day today
We have the storm jib up now which is our smallest sail for the most wind
That's about 25 nautical miles and if we maintain a speed of 5 knots we should make it in about 5 hours
We have the current with us when we arrive at 8 or 9 o'
clock it's high tide and the weather should remain constant
Maybe it will rain a little but that's not bad we have full gear on
Let's go
Today is actually a bit windy but tomorrow will be even windier and many sailboats will go out
We are also setting off now The
wind is coming from the right direction
The only advantage today
This is the advantage that's why we actually go with ourselves right
Yes We go
around the wave back there and then come back
Come back all 10 15 boats
We think so yes they all go out
Watch out for him he comes back too
They will all come back
The returnees have too much action
Wild wild out there
Read comfortable
But we need to raise the sails now
We still have the motor on now
We now have the storm jib up and the forces are strong and the mainsail
And the swell is very high
It's not going quite as smoothly as expected We are now
going at six knots but we do have the engine running
We should be there in about three and a half hours now
And we've already accomplished a bit
Along the coast you can see industrial facilities and from there we just go out
They are now a bit further back
For now things are going pretty well because a while ago we almost ended
up on the beach and had a bit of a knot
That's already better than drifting around aimlessly now
Now let's see what else we can change
The sailing day was still tiring but we arrived
safely in Cali and then went for a skateboard tour
What's the plan We're leaving now go
shopping buy SIM cards take a great photo
There is a mobile phone SIM card provider here in France
You can buy 100 GB for 20 euros
These are just machines in some kiosks
We're right on the trail
So this is still a bit mysterious
All stores are open except for the one That is
the only one that is closed
Oh We
can never open the car
Say
Yes here do film it
Sorry
So we are here in Cali at 5 a m And we have a bright
full moon We are out here
for the second time at night
And we have no wind a mirror-like sea
And we're just cruising out to sea in a relaxed manner
And it's really crazy that we always just don't have any wind
This is the very first time without a wave here
That's crazy
With a rubber raft with 20 people
Hey they can't really do that
When you pass by and just see it
at they are living at the minimum level of existence and
one just passes by without knowing what is right and wrong
It's just hard to imagine what kind of solution could have existed
In the end there's nothing we can do
You can't just bring them over
You can't just go there and
take them because there are
20 people And that makes the police report difficult
Then that is their dream They do it for some kind
of motivation What is also
hard to understand then
That it has come to this
Regardless of the current situation
These 20 people are here without life jackets
And we can all see how important that is to everyone
Here they always say you must wear a life
jacket Without it nothing is possible
And this will then be quickly and sharply criticized
And with them it's somehow irrelevant
And it doesn't matter to anyone
So it's kind of a mistake in the system which makes it not
so important at that point The
thing is situations like these
Somehow all the problems you have suddenly become relative
This is often discussed under our videos
Do the three have a radio license
Do the three have a sailing license
Is there any problem
What are they doing wrong
What are they doing right
For us it's already a problem when we set off in the
morning and the wind is coming from the front Or
something is neither broken on the boat
and you somehow feel foolish when you
then experience something like that so
directly and in fact had considered one of
these things as a real problem beforehand
while being so close to a person in total distress
Here comes a coast guard boat that has been traveling for a while
I'd say they are heading there for those things
because the probability that they will not
be discovered is so low
We just saw a minefield on the map
It's marked down there red fields and it just runs
It was a human garden 50 years ago the one who
planted mines We now
want to drive here relaxed
Nothing bad
We have to go around that
We will just be redirected there
And hopefully there aren't too many minefields here anymore
We are still next to the minefield
but about another 10 nautical
miles until we reach Dieb
Also about another 2 hours
Then we'll be there
We have arrived in Dieb Approximately 100 nautical miles
have been covered today That
's the entrance to the harbor
There are always cliffs and coasts here It
looks really nice A few
houses standing together
This is now the first extreme tidal harbor here
The tide is 8.60
meters here You can also see it on the wall above
Normally the water is just much higher
We are lucky that it doesn't dry up here right now
But all the other harbors here along the coast
There's no water left in the harbor basin
We would be lying there like a fish that has fallen onto land
From there good luck until tonight here
Okay what's the plan here
We're going to Ponton now 8
9 or 10
Then behind the chainsaw
between the white we pack it in
the box Nice
I'll take a tow line here
Jonas also takes a towel
Then we go in
And now it's over because I can't hold it anymore
Everything went well
Now let's take a look at the cliffs
And fly the drone around a bit more or something
Do you still have an SD card
Well maybe
Is it full
It was full after two coasts
So that's it for now with the video
From Dirk it continues along the French coast to
Le Havre our destination
is Japres and finally Kaya
It's crazy what has already happened here so far
A lot of input many challenges a lot of information and a lot of skill
And you keep learning more and more
That's definitely really cool
A really cool blog is coming from Leonie
We had an experience today
It made us all think a little
And that is written
in the blog It is a really good article
It is on our website
Can we also link under the video
And then a blog
So check it out for sure
And it will definitely make you think again
Exactly it would be cool
if you drop by And otherwise
thanks for watching Until next time Peace Ciao
