Nice little intro right? Well in today's video we are playing an away day
and we are at the Asprey Golf Club. This place is something else, can't wait to get stuck in.
So this is Nick Does Golf. Hey golfers and welcome back to another video here on my channel Nick Does
Golf. It's great to have you here for this one. Today I'm playing an away day and I'm playing at
the Asprey Golf Club. This place is absolutely beautiful, it's just outside Bridge North
here in the Shropshire countryside and I'm really looking forward to playing it. I've played it
twice before. This place is in immaculate condition. I think the first thing that they
ever held here, first people to play it, was a EuroPro event. It just shows you the standard
of golf and the type of course it is. Every time that I've played here it's been wall-to-wall
sunshine and once again it hasn't failed to deliver. I cannot wait to get out there and
play this. There's also a fun fact which I'm going to reveal at the end about this golf course so
stay tuned for that. So let's get the stuff out. I better come back as well. Look at this, this is
naughty. So I'm just in the practice net now, hitting a few away before we get started. I'm
going to try and show you as many shots as possible and how beautiful this golf course is.
So let's go. A bit long with that one. Caught an absolute flyer but the course is looking immaculate.
Wahey! So tried to muller that and absolutely flipped it over with my hands. Let's see what
we can do with the chip.
It's not good. Look at this shot I've left myself with.
Eurgh!
Too far.
So score update, I've played six holes and I'm level par. Yes, I know that I've had two
balls where they've literally hit the bottom of the cup and come out but I'm going to give myself
that because they're literally about that deep with the cups so the ball's bound to come out right.
So opinions of the course. The fairways are really nice, everything's pretty pristine,
the rough is so penalising. If you go into it you're going to have a hard job trying to control
what your club is doing, never mind the ball. The greens are really good however they're not
as quick as they were previously when I played it a couple of years ago but nevertheless they
are still really really good. Really impressed with this front nine, I cannot wait to be on the back.
So at the halfway stage now, I'm through nine holes and I'm one over par. To be honest there
should be a few shots under, a few silly little errors here and there but to be honest it's not
about my score, it's about the course, it's so lovely to play. It's somewhere different,
it's really good. The Asprey's been around for a few years now. It used to be owned by Rockstar,
can anybody tell me what Rockstar's name was? I will be amazed if you can. Drop it in the comments,
I'd love to know if you know the answer. And does anybody know about the cool fact that I was going
to mention at the top of the video about the Asprey? No? No ideas? Well the cool fact is that me and Michael
film their videos right here, actually on hole number 10, this one that we're about to play right now.
So one of the really good things with the Asprey is there's never anybody really here on the golf
course. It's like golfers paradise. You've got along with the conditions, you've got a lovely
clubhouse and view pretty much on the majority of the holes really, especially on the back green.
It's just beautiful and if you haven't played it and you've never heard of it, check it out on the
and it's one of the hidden gems. So I've reached the 18th hole and I'm level par after 17 holes.
Scorecard not looking too shabby, made a few mistakes here and there but overall really
happy with it. Here is the last hole, the 18th, 200 yard par 3 off the back tees. I'm so glad
that I wasn't playing this off the backs to that front left pin location. It's really tight but
such a stunning hole. Here's my effort going into the flag now and as you can tell by my reaction,
I was very, very pleased with this and a bow to the crowd as we go. As you can see there,
ball is right behind the hole and here is my birdie effort which I managed to convert. I'm
really, really pleased with that. So there you have it, there is my overall view of the Asprey
and how I got on. Make sure you subscribe to my channel and check out all my social media platforms,
I'd really appreciate it. I really hope that you've enjoyed the video.
