So you might be wondering why I put that inner from my tent in there.
The reason being anyone who lives in the northeast will know about Lyme disease.
It's pretty prevalent up here. It's transferred from ticks and right now, this time of year,
it's like perfect tick weather. I'm starting to see a lot of them and I know a couple people
who've had Lyme disease and it's absolutely widened out and I've got a lot of plans
over the coming months in terms of outdoors and videos and I really don't want to be
struck down with that or, you know, be suffering with that whilst there's another potentially
deadly disease going on. And a couple of people have pointed out to me that they make
mesh liners that you can put inside tarps or put under tarps that attach to the ridge line
and I looked at them and I thought, well, what's the point in spending the money right now?
Might as well see if this fits and it does. Obviously, with the side door,
it's going to be a little tricky getting in and out but I can make it work.
Good old-fashioned cup of Yorkshire tea. Oh, it's still a little hot. It might look warm in the sun
but I can promise you it's not. It's freezing. I think it's only, well, it says it's 40 but
with the wind it's a lot colder than that. So it's still a little cold. The fishing was kind
of a bust. I figured it would be. It's still a little cold for fishing. Good fishing anyway.
I mean, well, all fishing is good fishing but, like, days when I tend to have good trout fishing
days. The best trout fishing days I've ever had have all been on days when it's, like,
just in the 60s and then, funnily enough, the two best days I've had was always the day before
it was going to rain. Both days were in May and it's still the beginning of April now so
it's still a little cold. It's going to be cold tonight. It's going to be, like,
25 degrees tonight again which is not what I want now. I want winter to be over but
today it'll be all right.
Well, fishing's been a bust. I mean, it must just be too cold just yet. I know from what I've read,
April's a tricky month and I haven't really had much success in April, especially not with these
temperatures. That last spot I was at is, like, a perfect trout hole. Perfect. Like, you could
literally just see the worm, you know, swirling in the water in one spot so if I don't get any
bites there right now, I'm not going to get any bites at all, I don't think. But it's getting
to that point where it's time to light the fire. There's a little fire pit here. Someone asked me
in my last video, there is a burn ban. It's mainly yard waste where I live but you are allowed to
campfire as long as it's below three feet in height so with that in mind it's best to try and
use one of these fire rings if possible or fire pit. This one's got this old grate on it which
is kind of cool. Makes me kind of feel like an old 1940s trapper but I am going to put my
grill on top of this one. I'm also going to try and light the fire
with my flint and steel and that wizard's beard. I don't think I've ever lit a fire
with the wizard's beard so I'm going to give that a try. I don't have a lot of charcloth left.
Well, it worked. I'm trying out a new seat. A climate beast seat. So this time for dinner,
I've got some pork ribs. I don't think I've ever cooked pork ribs out here anyway so
season them up and go for a little flame grilled action. Right, I'm not sitting over there because
the fire's doing that thing where no matter where I sit the smoke is straight in my face.
Big old ribs. Hopefully they're cooked. I think so. I'd say so. It's good. I need it. Calories,
fats. A couple of people have commented that I look like I'm tired and lethargic
at some points in my video and I probably am because I keep track of all my calories
that I eat normally and on a normal day I eat about 3,000 calories. When I'm out here
I probably get like half that so most of what I get comes from my evening meal.
All right, I'm gonna eat these and then if anything changes I'll get back with you.
Knob Creek Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. 100 proof. 50% alcohol by volume. Lord,
trying to kill me. Anyway, no bourbon and ginger ale. Cheers guys. Oh, that is strong.
That is strong. Should have probably tried it straight first but with it being 50% alcohol
I don't think I'm gonna need to do that. Thank you to everyone for suggestions on the hammocks.
People seem to really love hammocks so I'm still looking. I'm still thinking about it.
Obviously a lot of people recommend Warbonnet hammocks. I've seen those before. They seem to
be really popular so I'm, like I say, still looking, still thinking about it. I might as
well try it. Try one but we'll see. We'll see what I come up with. It's actually quite a nice
evening now. Seems to be doing that a lot recently. Seems to be really windy during the day.
Quite cold and then the evenings are quite calm. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. We shall see.
Okay guys, been sat here relaxing by the fire. Starting to die down a little bit. It's nice and
warm but I think I'm gonna hit the hay soon so I will see you in the morning. Well, good morning.
As you can probably see it's looking a little different outside. Must have snowed in the middle
of the night which is nice. It looks very pretty but it got cold last night. I know I said it was
gonna be 25 but it felt colder than that. At one point I had to put my jacket on and sleep in my
jacket so I definitely think my winter sleeping bag needs cleaning and fluffing up a bit more.
I think it's starting to lose some of its loft. It's never been clean since I got it so
it's probably needed right now just to give it that extra fluff.
But yeah, I'm gonna get up and start my day and if you like this one give it a like.
Please subscribe if you haven't already and I will see you on the next one. Take it easy.
