Well, it's been a crazy day, let me tell you.
Oh, well, it's my own doing as well.
I was so meticulous about packing my...
Well, I say that now.
I was so meticulous about packing my stuff
so I could get here early.
And I decided I wasn't going to film anything on the way in.
I was just going to get back here
and then I'll film stuff when I get back here.
Turn the camera on.
No memory card in it.
Check my bag. No memory cards in my bag.
Only option.
Had to hike all the way back out of here.
Drive to the closest town.
Luckily there was a Walgreens there.
A pharmacy that had memory cards.
So I grabbed a memory card, drove back,
hiked all the way back in here.
So I've probably done...
I don't know how far today.
Seven and a half miles in total in the snow.
So I'm bushed. I'm beat up.
And we've got a big storm coming in tonight.
A big storm.
It's supposed to be winds of up to 35 mph
and close to a foot of snow.
It's supposed to start about midnight tonight
and then not stop snowing until about midday tomorrow.
I've got my tarp with me.
The first thing I think I want to do right now
is make sure I get some firewood together
so I can keep it dry.
I've also got to boil some water
because my lips are so parched.
I'm thirsty. I'm thirsty.
I want to make sure I've got stuff to cook with.
I've got some dry wood that I can stick under the tarp
for the morning.
The tarp shouldn't be too difficult to set up.
The only thing I want to do with the tarp
because in my experience
when you camp in heavy snowfall
with the tarp
a lot of times it'll sag.
The weight of the snow on the sides will push it in.
So maybe I'm going to make a framework for it
like some rib work
so at least one side will stay
and won't cave in on me.
So that's my plan right now.
But it's 3 o'clock
and it's going to be dark at 4.30
so I've got to hustle.
Hustle, hustle, hustle.
Well, I've managed to rig my headlamp
to the front of my tripod.
I've got buffalo steaks.
That's right.
Buffalo. Bison steaks.
I grabbed them at the supermarket.
First time I'd ever seen them
so I'm first time trying them.
But it's good.
I'm just yamming it with my hand, I'm afraid.
But I just forgot so many things today
after everything I had planned
and how long I've literally been watching the weather all week.
Yeah, that's just how it goes.
But I've got everything set up.
I've got the fire set up.
I've got the tarp set up.
I've got wood.
I've got enough space under the tarp
to put wood in with me.
And yeah, I should be ready
to be able to get the fire going again in the morning.
And it should keep me out of the snow.
My plan is to try and wake up early.
Like I say, it'll be snowing from
probably midnight through to midday.
So if I can get up early.
And we have filmed lots of the snow
so that's looking forward to that.
That should be good.
But for now I'm going to eat this
and I will get back with you guys if anything changes.
Goodnight.
It's about four o'clock in the morning.
As you can see by my jacket,
which I'm using to cover my head
so I don't get the snow on it,
there's snow getting in the end.
It's coming down pretty good.
I don't know how much snow it must have had.
The good news is the wind calmed down.
Before I went to bed it was ripping pretty good.
And so far right now
I haven't heard too much about it.
But it's pretty...
I'm alright.
I'm nice and warm.
I'm not cold so that's good.
We'll see what she's like in the morning.
Well, in two hours or so when I get out of here.
I'm sorry if the lens is a bit messed up
or the audio.
But it said the snow
is supposed to be coming down
about an inch an hour
from, well,
till about 11am on the Saturday
which is today.
It's 8.30 now so
we're right in the thick of it.
So I'm trying to keep the lens clean.
I'm trying to keep snow off the mic.
But it's pissing into the wind as we would call it.
People all over the world say the same thing.
It's a fruitless endeavour right now.
It just keeps getting more snow on it.
More snow on it and more snow on it.
So it doesn't look like...
Well, they said this wasn't going to stop until
between 11 and 1 o'clock
so it doesn't look like I'll be leaving until
after 1 o'clock.
My goal, I've got some bacon.
I'm going to get a kettle on, get some coffee going
and keep this fire hot.
Keep it going, keep it warm.
Just keep piling stuff on it
as much as possible.
Bacon.
Oh baby.
Got the bacon on.
Got coffee and some...
mixed with some hot chocolate in there.
Everything's going alright.
The snowflakes are getting fatter
and it's starting to come down pretty hard now.
So like I say, I've just got to keep moving.
Keep getting firewood.
I'm going to keep this fire going to keep myself dry.
And then once it stops, see if I can dry out
some of my gear.
I'm going to keep going.
Tell you what.
It's going to be hard work getting out of here.
Very hard work.
But this is just incredible.
This is incredible.
This is probably worse
than the last one I did.
Definitely more snow.
And it doesn't...
It's getting worse.
There's more snow coming down than there ever was.
But it just looks amazing.
It just looks so cool.
Click.
Literally cleaned that tarp off
10 seconds ago. 10 seconds ago. I tell you what, pine might not be very good for
cooking and things like that, but on days like today, with heavy precipitation, it's
an absolute godsend. I mean, it's just, there's so many, especially in a thick
stem like this, there's so many dead standing pieces that are dry inside, and it burns so
hot that it helps to really just keep the fire going, and even when there's snow falling
on it, it just keeps going and going and it keeps kicking out good heat. And the other
thing is, because it burns so hot and it burns so quick, I literally have to just keep going
and getting more and more and more, so I'm moving as well, so I'm not getting cold.
I mean I'm getting a little bit wet, but that's what the fire's for. And like I say, as long
as I can keep it going, keep it hot and warm, by the time this snow stops, which, I don't
know, it's 10.20 now, it doesn't seem like it's going to stop any time soon, but if it
does stop, at least this will be hot and I can keep, I can get by this for a little
bit and dry everything and keep myself warm afterwards and that, so I don't get a chill,
but for right now, I just, yeah, it's working good and it's keeping me moving. I've got
some hardwood pieces on there, which you saw me cut earlier, and they're just not, not
burning really, so, yeah, keep at it, keep going, keep moving.
It got light for a minute, I thought maybe there was going to be a break in the clouds
and it was going to stop, but it's not. There was only a couple of inches of snow on here
last night. Now I'm down, there, I'm down to the eye still. It's snowed quite a lot
and it's still snowing. Weather update! Yep, still snowing.
Listen. There's nothing, there's no one. Literally, I know there's, there's nothing on that side
of me for I don't know how far, but a long, long way.
As you can see, it's 12 now and it's still showing no signs of stopping. I thought for
a minute it was going to, but it's not, and I've sort of made the decision, the longer
I leave it, the more snowed in I get, so I'm going to pack up and try and make my way out
of here.
One thing I did want to mention before I go, though, is if anyone's looking for a tent,
a sleeping pad or a sleeping bag, Hike and Bike. I reached out to these guys last year
and I've reached out to them again this year. The reason being, if you follow my channel,
you'll know I'm not a very, I don't do a lot of sponsored products, I don't do a lot of
free products. This bag I actually bought myself like four years ago and that's the
reason I reached out to them. I get emails from companies every day wanting me to use
their stuff, but I reached out to these guys because I love this bag, I love their product,
and it's always kept me warm. It was my first big investment into sleeping bags and it's
reasonably priced. This one retails for under $200, this zero degree sleeping bag, and compared
to some of the other more expensive ones, it's always kept me warm, never had any issues
with it, and I just love it and I think it's a great product. So, they've actually given
me a discount code, a link in the description that you guys can follow if you want to get
one and you get 10% off anything on their website. They do sleeping bags, like I say,
they do hammock compatible sleeping bags, they do tents now, and they do sleeping pads
as well. So, go ahead, take a look if you want. It does help me out massively, like
I say, I don't accept, I hardly ever accept free products from people because I only want
to work with products that I think are worth the money, you know what I mean? So, I do
end up spending a lot of money on gear and I don't have a PayPal or anything like that
because I don't want to ask anyone for money, I don't believe in doing that. So, like I
say, if you want a really great product and you want to help me out, and you're looking
for a new sleeping bag or something like that, follow the link in the description and
check them out. But apart from that, as you see, it's still coming down, I'm still getting
snowed in and I'm going to have to head out of here, I'm going to have to waddle out of
here with my chafing. It's going to be a rough one. So, anyway, thanks very much for watching,
subscribe if you haven't already, give us one a like and, as always, I will see you
on the next one. Take it easy, guys.
It's still snowing a little bit, excuse the headwear, but my hat got so wet that the brim
just had no structure to it anymore, it just kept flopping down over my eyes. So, luckily
I have my gaiter to keep my hair out my face. Just on my phone. I haven't gone that far
to be honest, I'm maybe halfway and it's taken me an hour, but you saw how deep it is. It's
slow going, it's a trudge, it's a trudge, but it's worth it. It's so beautiful, it's
so pretty, but I'll be in bed for the next week.
