Last week we were getting a drizzle on from the Hellford and navigating through some Cornish
weather in search of some sunshine and now we are somewhere 15 degrees warmer with foreign
flags all around. We need to rewind a little. Let's go back to St Mawes just over a week
ago and this will all start to make a bit more sense.
So we're just preparing, Jacob is just there, we're just preparing the boat to sail.
And we're actually moving from St Mawes Anchorage, we're going up the River Fowl
and we're gonna go to an anchorage tonight and then tomorrow night we are
going to a floating pontoon in Malpas. I'm gonna leave the boat there for ten
days so yeah that's the plan. It's about six nautical miles there and it will
take us about an hour and a half so yeah hopefully we'll be able to sail a little
bit of the way but once it gets narrow in the river, I'll have to put the motor on, but that's fine.
First time doing a river in Taly, so that's exciting.
We're in a film right now! I'm in Jurassic Park! That was crazy!
This place is beautiful, I'm pinching myself that we're actually taking Taly up this place right now.
Oh my gosh, sunrise is a good idea!
You're gonna use it like a supboard? You should get a dinghy paddle!
Don't ding it on the boat!
Very impressive!
So I'm just in our head now, changing after we went for a dip and everyone's up on the deck having a cider and having some crisps.
I keep pinching myself, this is my life and I'm so happy.
This is what I dreamed of for so long and it's just like it's all coming true.
Living my dream right now. We're anchored on like a beautiful river with friends and family.
Chef's kiss!
Cheers Becca!
This is the forward deck.
We're going for an explore!
What happened Becca?
Zac broke the paddle.
That's very impressive Zac.
Becca are you concerned knowing he's this strong?
You're such a strong boy.
That's ridiculous, he is a strong boy.
Alright Becca, you're on that one then.
1, 2, 3, pull!
1, 2, Becca more!
Pull!
Becca! Pull!
There's a lot of spinning right now.
I can't believe I just broke that.
Yeah you said that.
He's strong.
I've got that creek stank.
That's handy.
Oh I hear a cow.
I don't know where he goes.
It's a bit marshy isn't it?
Zac, don't have shoes.
The dinghy's back there.
See Zac, this is a proper adventure.
Oh it's really muddy.
This is quaint.
Someone really loves this garden.
Out here
is so peaceful.
I can smell pine forests.
I can smell oak trees.
I can smell just the water.
This is like the happiest
bird
was flying past.
Woohoo!
So happy.
It's 7 in the morning
and we've just about to move Hayley
to either a mooring buoy or a pontoon
over there for the next 10 days
which is kind of crazy.
There was a space on the floating pontoon
just there that went last night
so fingers crossed we find a little spot
for her.
We've just landed on this floating pontoon
and luckily there was a spot
here which was yes.
So we've just
just preparing the boat
and we're going to be hopefully picked up
by a water taxi when it opens, it's not quite open yet.
Recycling bins at the end
which we've been searching for for days.
The boys are taking the rubbish now
and I'm going to finish up putting
the fenders where they're meant to be.
We were leaving Tailey to head over
2,000 miles to Kalkan in Turkey.
This trip was initially booked
three years ago to celebrate Zac's mum's birthday
but due to travel restrictions
it somehow was only now we were going.
Despite living our dream life
it was nice to just really switch off for a week.
The first few days
we spent relaxing, reading
swimming, eating
and exploring the local town.
Oh and you can't forget editing.
It's funny though because despite being miles and miles away
from Tailey we couldn't seem to switch off
from boat life. Whether it was watching
the interesting mooring techniques of the locals
To redo that at Mayflower Zac
or spending the day on Poseidon
a beautiful 108 foot vessel
made in the traditional gulet style.
The very idea of sailing back here with Tailey
one day got us very excited.
The most
wonderful day. Look at the sunset
and
I got my personal best
free diving. I actually got down
to 12 metres today. Yesterday
I got down to 8 metres so
progress is being made and tonight
we're going to go out and have gelato and waffles
for dinner because we're on holiday and
that's what you do on holiday and it's just so nice
just to completely unwind
and I fell asleep on a lalo in the pool earlier
and yeah I'm just so
happy. This was so needed.
With the hat on. Yeah.
Good
after run. Yeah.
Almost a bit too warm. Yeah you're
really red.
So it's now day three of the trip. We went for
breakfast up the mountain this morning which was
lovely.
How do you rate Turkish breakfast?
10 out of
11. It's really good.
Just got back. I've replied to comments and now
we're heading to a sandy beach
and we're going to go for a swim
read our books, chill out
have a lovely time. Yeah
that's the plan for this morning.
So we've come to a gorge today
we drove about, how far was it? Like 45 minutes?
Yeah about that. And we just had breakfast and we've come
to this gorge and apparently the water's 5 degrees
so we'll have to see whether we'll go for a dip
but look at this place, it's absolutely beautiful
it's pretty busy but yeah
it's really lovely.
It's very Thailand-esque in the way
that the tourism's done in this bit of Turkey.
It really is.
Wow.
Really? Yeah.
So shallow jumping in! I was like
I didn't see anywhere else to go
did you? I didn't see another road.
I think they're just building this road.
We're a bit early, come back in a few weeks.
I'm not convinced.
He's like, he's come wrong
he must be a tourist.
On the way back
we maybe took a wrong turn
but ended up passing here, the ancient
loosened city of Tlos.
With foundations of over 4000 years old
it was incredible to wander around
and admire the layout and building methods
used back then. In mythology
it was the city inhabited by Hero Bellerophon
and his winged horse Pegasus
and many think there is a tomb in the necropolis
here dedicated to him.
Thanks for watching, we hope you enjoyed
seeing a little bit of a different video from us.
Next week though we'll be back on Tailly
and despite the damp we waste no time
exploring the area.
