How To Replace An Anlin Slider Door Lock & Handle

Hey guys, Sean with American Window Concepts. On this video, I'll show you how to replace a lock on an Anlin Malibu patio door. All right guys, so I got my gloves on. Here's our door up close. Most people would think that what you would do is you would take just these screws off or these four and then the plate comes off and then the lock comes out. What you have to do, cordless drill, take off these first, all right, then the handle will come off. I'll set that down on the ground. I like to have my hands on both the outside and this inside mounting plate because once you let these screws go, this has an opportunity to fall and maybe scratch or something. So I'll pull the screws out and just separate these. So you have just like this and I'll put them down on the ground. Here is where your two screws are holding this lock into place. So we're going to pull these out. You don't have to worry about this one or this one. That is the face plate screws and that has no bearing on this. So all I'm going to do is I'm just going to go in there and so I'll do that again. I'm just going to go in and basically just do some leverage and move this thing out just like this. So down on the bottom too, there it is, little cassette is out. Okay, so now I'm going to go to my new one. Here's our new one and just so, because there's a way, a wrong way to do this, you got to make sure that, see, because if you were pushing down on this, it's not going to lock. Turn it the other way, well, now when you push down, it goes. This is basically set for handing. So if you have an XO, it's one way, if you have an OX, it's the other. So now that we know from the inside, which way you would do the lock, you can insert it. There we go. And then let's just verify we have it the right way. Push on the detent button and we are good there. Your strike plate, this little cutout here has to be to the inside because that's where your lever is going to be. Handle is to be like this. So you don't want it like this, where your hands would, you know, pull on this side. You want it like this. This is how it's done on the plant floor at Anland. I like to go just to where it starts to get tight. Not very much. There you go. That's it. This just slides right in like that. Practice again, make sure it works. We're good. That's good. The next step is going to be putting our handle in, all right? Set that. I'll put these screws in like that. That'll hold. Come back around. And again, you don't want to go too fast. You don't want to strip out your white headed screws here. Just like that. That's good. Check to make sure that it's not wobbly or anything. We're good. Last step would be to just set your screws here for your mortise lock. Looks like everything is nice and easy. Check to make sure that it's not floppy or anything, wiggly. That is all you have to do for your mortise lock. Very, very easy. All right, guys. Well, thank you so much for watching this video.
