Hi everyone, it's Michelle Baratta with Bella Branch TV and today's DIY is another Mother's
Day DIY although this can be used anytime really and you'll see what I mean.
We're going to make this frame that is so darn cute and you'll see it says if I didn't
have you as a mom I would have chose you as a friend and that could be replaced with anything.
If I didn't have you as an aunt, if I didn't have you as a dad, a brother, a sister, a
BFF, it's really for anybody that you love and you want to show them how much you love.
So are you guys ready to get started?
Well let's go!
What you'll need for your project is acrylic paint in a burnt umber color, E6000 glue,
three clips even though I'm only showing two, wire cutters, a sponge brush, silver pen,
four brads, scissors, and some photos.
A piece of wood, I used a balsa lightweight wood, black card stock, and two black and
white photos.
First, you're going to take a bowl with a little bit of water in it and you're going
to put some of the burnt umber color paint in there and mix it up.
This is going to act as a stain.
Then apply your stain with a sponge brush.
Next you're going to take your silver pen and your black card stock and you're going
to write, if I didn't have you as a mom, I could choose you as a friend.
And this is going to be the focal point of your project.
After your paint has dried, you're ready to assemble your beautiful frame.
It probably only took about 30 minutes to dry.
Now take your upholstery tacks or brads and you're going to need to take the little point
off of the end with your clippers.
Now take some E6000 glue and on the corner of your black card stock, you're going to
put the tops of the upholstery tacks.
Now you need to position your hinge clips.
So decide where you want to have it.
Take your pen and mark the back of the hinge.
Now take some E6000 glue.
You could use Gorilla Glue also, that's another option.
And you're going to position that on your wood piece.
Now you're going to lay down the card stock because what you want to do is that's going
to help you position your two photos.
Now decide where you want your two photos to be and then you're going to do the same
thing with the hinge and you're going to mark where those are going to go.
Now take some of your E6000 glue or Gorilla Glue and put that on the back of the hinge
clips.
Now you're going to take some twine or ribbon or anything else that you have around and
you're going to measure the width of your wood.
And what we're going to use this for is that's going to be used to hang it on the wall.
So on the back, you're going to take some of your glue.
You could also use hot glue if you wanted to do that here.
I just used the E6000 since it was available.
Now you are ready to put all your beautiful pieces together.
The E6000 glue probably takes about an hour to dry.
Okay this one was cool.
This is such a cool project.
This turned out so great and I think that anyone would love this as a gift.
Not just a mom.
