Pokemon Illuminations - Giant Pikachu in Tokyo
Hi everyone! Tonight we've come to the special Pokemon Illumination event that's only available during the winter.
So all you Pokemon fans out there, come along with us and let's check it out!
This new Pokemon Illumination attraction is actually part of the Winter Illuminations here at Tsugami-ko Pleasure Forest, a family park located just on the outskirts of Tokyo.
To access the Pokemon section of the Illuminations, you'll need to take the rainbow chairlift to the highest area of the park.
So guys, this is Pokemon Street. It's the main street that runs here through the Illuminations and it's just making me so nostalgic.
You know, all the colours and the music and seeing all the cool little Pokemon scattered everywhere. It's really cool.
Takes me back to my childhood when I had my first Gameboy and you know, Pokemon Blue. So good.
Yasu, how about you? What did you get?
I got the red one.
Good choice, good choice.
Do you know how many generations are out there now?
I don't know. I haven't played it in a while. I think there's about nine now and over like a thousand Pokemon I think.
Yeah, it's crazy, you know, how the series have been popular over decades.
Yeah, I think it's the biggest franchise in the world. It's really just unbelievable.
The Pokemon Street is the second of three sections that make up these Illuminations.
The entrance and first section is called Pokemon Gondola, referring to the enormous ferris wheel that is located in the centre.
This area is full of all the fan favourites such as Pikachu and Eevee, as well as different murals and structures, including perhaps the world's largest Pokeball.
Hey, do you remember the very first Pokemon you got?
Yeah, I think it was Bulbasaur, Pokemon Blue.
Oh, Fushigidane.
Fushigidane, yeah, in Japanese.
The small green one, right?
That's the one, yeah.
To me, it was Hitokage. What's it called in English?
Charmander in English.
Oh, I see Charmander. Yeah, it's nice to see him after all these years.
He looks quite cute. He's just sleeping next to the fire.
Maybe I'll do the same.
Watch out, Yasu!
At the end of the path, you'll find yourself at the third section of the Pokemon Illuminations and main attraction of the entire park, a 20ft tall Pikachu.
So guys, this is the final section of the Illuminations. It's Pikachu's Forest of Light.
It's got all this white grass, and it's all lit up with LEDs.
And as you can see, there's these little happy Pikachu in their natural habitat.
Very adorable.
What's the giant Pikachu behind you?
That thing's enormous, right? Yeah.
I've not played it, but I know in the new game, they added this new thing called Dynamax.
So you get this Dynamax ball, and it makes the Pokemon enormous.
Oh, so even the balls are bigger.
I don't know if the ball's bigger, it's just bigger.
But just in a second, the show's about to start, and we're going to watch Dynamax in action.
