Bonjour!
The summer has been extraodinary: we're getting so much rain and it is not as warm and sunny as it is supposed to be. Nonetheless we're enjoying our time off as a family. In this vlog I take you with us on a trip to a beautiful lake in natural park Le Morvan. Hope you enjoy!

Olaf is cleaning the windows because most of the time when we go out to get
something we film from the car and then all you see is dead flies. I'm working in
the shop this morning and then this afternoon we're going to Decize which is
about an hour and a half from here so it's a three hour round trip to pick up
some wood because we're making progress again on the tiny house but there has
been huge problems in France ever since Covid with stock for wood with
especially now this month of August when most of the French are on a holiday
with transportation so they just cannot get any delivery company to get it to us
so I called them again and saying when is the wood coming and they said well
we're asking Secours Transporteur to come and see if they've got
availability and we just want to continue with the work so we're going to
take our own van and take it all the way to Decize to get the wood and
then this table I found maybe two weeks ago and I want to use this in our
holiday home which is this space which is now the temporary pop-up hook on the
shop and I'm just going to leave it as is. I don't like it the way it's here
right now but I'm just going to leave it here because I have nowhere else to put
it right now and I think this will be really nice over there at that end
because this again will be a holiday home and what I have in mind for this
space is that we're going to have a kitchen over at this end that's why you
see all the tubes sticking out and all the stuff that Olof has prepared
so this will be a beautiful kitchen, Pierre de Bourgogne, a La Conche range
I don't know what you call that, stove, cooker which is made in the next village which I
really thought we need to have in this house and then here of course this is
just a setup for the shop right now but this will be the dining area and we
prepared a really strong hook here to hang a light fixture like an industrial
style light fixture that I found. Don't know if it will in the end all work out
with how this is all going to look but Olof made the preparations for it and then this
area of course will be the lounge area. This has these two chairs right now but
there will be a big couch or a big lounge chair, I don't know but something really nice and
comfortable because these are for the tiny house. These are going to be on the porch of the tiny house
really nice wood burner so this is going to be the sitting area. I was thinking
this small table would be really nice maybe under a window or just because of
course you can turn this into a round table so these go up on both sides. So
this is where we'll put a bed like this so we have what we call a studio and
everything is in one space. This is where the bed will be. We're making it as
large as we can. Like I said in an earlier video many beds in France are
super small which we really don't like ourselves. So this is where the bed will be and then there is a door to a bathroom.
So this beam that you see over the window and the door wasn't there so
many people that see it now will tell us oh it's so cool that you left the beam.
It wasn't there. It was closed really. There was no window here and the door
was this low probably this low I guess because it was a stable so it was just
for the cows to get out and the window on the other end wasn't there either.
That was maybe this size just to let a small beam of light in and Ola found this and
he said why don't we put that over the window and door and it will look like
it's always been there. I've said it before but I'll say it again this is a
really strange summer. It should be much warmer and much sunnier in this part of
France than it has been and we've just had a week of rain. Doesn't mean it rains
all day but it means it rains every now and then so it just doesn't feel like
the true proper summer vibes that you would expect. But we did manage to do
again a couple of nice trips as a family in our region. So we are between the wine
region of Beaune and the natural park Le Morvan. Le Morvan I would say is a
really untouched and unpolished natural park. It is really like you're going back
in time. There's not many people living there although lots of Dutch people are
moving there, buying houses there but it is really so pure and natural and it
has lots of lakes and many of the bigger ones are really busy during the
summer because they're well known. But there's also one lake that I've been
wanting to go to for a while and I convinced my family to go there. I want
to show you about our day trip and I also want to show you this thing that
happened while I was in my car working, catching the internet signal, on a very
rainy day and then this happened. I was just sitting here working, look, with my
internet connection and I heard cows and I was like oh. Look at the great bull, oh
my god. I am so happy I am in my car because I can tell you the French cows,
these cows are not for milk they're for meat and they are very afraid of humans.
So I can probably best just sit and stay here. It is not normal for them to be
able to access the road like that and this is a farm field that they've
made. Hey look at that one, I don't want to get out of my car because again these
can be very scared of people. So look it's scratching his head, look. Look,
they're really not supposed to be there. Look at the others now, they're coming to
see what's happening. They're so curious. Someone found an exit, let's all go look.
Oh gosh, I'm going to figure out whose these are because they've just found an
entrance somewhere in the, in the, I can't find the word for it now.
They've just found an entrance, someone's found an entrance and then all the
others just followed. I drive to the next village, I try to find someone but it's
lunchtime so everybody's inside. People tend to tend to not be outside, it's
raining but I found a house and the woman said that it's probably one of my
village's farmers. So I called the farmers of my village and they said, one
of them said yes indeed we do have quite a lot of cows at that area so they're
going to come out now and see if it's their cows and what to do about it. So
I've spent maybe half an hour of my time on that. Welcome to France, this is my
life, this is my real life in the French countryside. So I know many people on
this channel have a dream of moving to France and this is also what living in
the countryside means. It means we're all taking care of each other, it means
whenever you see something like this you try to, you don't just see it and film it
and post it on Facebook like I did, you try to figure out whose cows it are, you
know, because it's dangerous for the cows, it's dangerous for the people and it's
difficult to find your cows once they get horribly lost. We have a farmer in
our village who has sheep and when they find their way out, you know, he said
I can't find them anymore, they disappeared into the forest and he
just never found them after that. So welcome to the French countryside.
