You know when you do your lips and you put like a matte lip product on and then you can't move
your lips that much afterwards? Okay, let's do this. Hola mi gente! Hey guys, how's it going?
I am so bad at introductions. What's up? What's good? So this is the part where I just literally
tell you what's in the title of the video. I'm going to talk to you today about how living in
Europe changed my sense of style. Okay, so let's rewind a little bit. Let me tell you about myself,
about my story. My name is Greta, Greta Luna Priego, and I lived and worked in Paris, France,
for about eight months after I graduated from college. So yeah, I lived abroad, I worked abroad,
I lived with a family, which they're not a host family, but I just kind of stayed with them.
I met them through my mom, and it was literally the best experience of my entire life.
I traveled to like 10 countries, a lot of them I went by myself, so if you want a video about
solo traveling, let us know and I will do that. I met so many people, I learned so much, that sounds
so cheapy, I learned so much about myself, but I did, I learned so much about myself, I learned so much
about other people. I was working as an English teacher and translator in an underserved community,
well yeah, an underserved community, but specifically at an elementary school,
and it was amazing. Of course, like I do have to say, this is not what I wanted to do
for the rest of my life. I didn't go into teaching because I wanted to go into education.
I had worked with kids before, but I was so lost after college. Can I just tell you, it's okay
if you don't know what you want to do after college. Honey, it's okay, don't stress. So while
I was living abroad in Paris, and I was working abroad, I got to see so many incredible outfits.
I got so much inspiration. When people go to Europe, and when people, like for example, if
someone's going to to visit France, to visit Paris, everyone wants to pack their nicest clothes,
everyone wants to look cute, everyone wants to look chic, everyone wants to look vogue,
and there's a reason for it. It's because there's something about Paris, there's something about,
yeah, there's something about the Parisian ambiance that just makes you want to look good,
and there's a reason for that. I feel like Paris, first of all, the architecture. This is one,
honestly, this could be incorrect, but I feel like a big reason why so many people are so
beautifully fashionable. Does that make sense? Fashionable in Paris is because of the
architecture. Everything is beautiful. Every single building is literally a masterpiece.
I went one time to the Apple store because I lost my headphones, and I was just thinking,
okay, I'm just going to go, it's just the Apple store, whatever. It was in the most beautiful
building. I thought I was in the wrong place because I was like, there's no way the Apple
store is in here. It just makes you want to kind of, this kind of sounds weird, but in a way,
emulate the architecture and look good. It just is inspiring. It makes you just feel like you just
want to go for it. You just want to go for life. You want to look cute. You want to get ---- done.
You want to meet people. You want to be the best version of yourself that you can be because it's
so beautiful. So beautiful. Is it too bright? Now it's too bright. Is that better? So another
reason why I feel like people in France, specifically Paris, just want to look beautiful
and why the fashion there is beautiful is because of the lifestyle. Okay. Okay. I have never met
a collective of people in my life that value their free time and their vacation time as much
as French people ever, ever. I feel like in the U S we have such a big mentality of
go, go, go, go, go all the time. We always have to be working. It's always about hustling. It's
always about getting things done. It's always about being a girl on the go and doing stuff
all the time. Or else you feel like crap. Cause you're like, Oh my God, everyone's doing amazing
things. And I'm just here in my bed. But in France, they value their, they value treating
themselves good so much. Okay. Let me just tell you, let me just tell you something. Every five
weeks, every five weeks, the kids and teachers in schools get two weeks of vacation time
in all of France. Let me just, let me just let you think about that real quick.
It was great for me because I was working in a school. So every five weeks I was like,
So yeah, they have the mentality that yourself comes first before anything. That's why they eat
good. That's why they love to travel. That's why just the lifestyle is just makes you want to take
care of yourself and look good and dress good because you have so much time to, you know?
And another thing I want to mention why I feel like Paris is just the scene for fashion is because of
the status. I feel like Paris just has the status to it and they kind of want to maintain it. They
kind of want to be like, okay, I live in Paris. I need to look like I live in Paris. Okay. You
don't know who you're going to run into because so many famous people live in Paris. So many
amazing fashion models came out of Paris. So you don't know who you're going to run into, honestly.
And you just always want to look good. So yeah.
Girl. Girl. So the first thing that I want to say that Paris and Europe taught me about fashion
was that a bag can be anything. Anything. It can be a cool recyclable tote bag that you got at your
It can be a old ass wallet that has literally seen everything and gone through everything with
you. It can be a huge ass designer purse that says, yes, this bag is worth more than you will
ever be. It can be a fanny pack that says you're a minimalist. It can be a teeny tiny little bag
that says, yes, I still have to carry my phone and my wallet outside of the bag, but it's fashion.
Okay. It's fashion. After being in Paris for so long, I've kind of ditched my traditional bags
and I am obsessed with bringing around like tote bags. You know, the ones I'm talking about,
the ones that are like, like cloth material and you get them at like museums, you get them at
shows, you get them in different places and they have like logos on them or different designs on
them. I love those. Those are so cute. They kind of look like so effortless. They fit so much.
Like they're so cute and they go with anything and they really dress down an outfit. Like if
you're wearing a really cute dress, that's a little fancy and you just wear it tote with it,
it kind of dresses it down a little bit. So yeah, so a bag can literally be anything that you want
it to be. So the second thing that living in Europe definitely taught me in terms of fashion
and how it changed my style is that I learned, wait, that sentence made absolutely no sense.
Okay. Europe taught me that fancy ass things, things that are really expensive, things that
look really out there that you probably would only wear to like a very expensive dinner date.
They can be worn every day and they can be dressed down. I used to be so self-conscious of
wearing really beautiful, long flowy dresses in my day to day because I always thought that,
okay, like I'm not cute enough to wear this or I would think like people are going to stare at me
and they're going to be like, who does she think she is? Like, oh my God. And honestly,
I have never seen so many people pair expensive clothing items with like sneakers, with white
sneakers and a baseball cap and sunglasses. And I'm like, like if you invest in like a beautiful
dress, if you invest in like, I don't know, some Gucci item, you can totally make it look less
flashy by just pairing it with jeans, pairing it with like some nice sneakers. Like I said,
pairing it with a baseball cap, like you can dress anything down and oh my God, it's genius.
It's literally genius. I saw so many girls on the, on the train in Paris and they were wearing
beautiful gowns, beautiful dresses and just wearing sneakers. And I was like, wow, teach me.
So the third way that Europe has completely changed my sense of style is, I forgot, oh yeah,
that comfy and cute are not mutually exclusive. Okay. You know, girl, if you have been to Europe,
you've been to Paris, you've been to Rome, you know that you are going to walk. Okay. You're
going to walk everywhere. So you know that Europeans have no choice but to be comfy. Like
they have to, they have to be comfy, but I think the European has mastered the ability to
balance being comfy and still looking real cute. To be, to be cute and to look put together,
you do not have to be wearing stilettos. You do not have to be wearing heels. You don't know,
you don't have to like not be able to breathe girl. You can breathe and you can walk. You can
look cute. You just have to be comfortable and you just have to know how to master that. Especially
people my age in Paris, I saw so many Adidas everywhere. Like the Parisian, the French person
is such a ho for Adidas. Like they love their Adidas sneakers. I saw them everywhere. Whenever
I would try to go find a pair, they were sold out. Like I, so that's the first way that I saw people
were able to achieve cuteness and comfiness. The second way was kitten mules or kitten mules,
kitten heels, low heels. Those were also seen a lot. I saw a lot of girls, especially when they
were like in their work attire, like on their way, you know, to work and to their meetings
or whatever. I saw a lot of them with low heels and they were so cute. They were so cute. So I've
really been obsessed with wearing low heels now, low like kitten, kitten heels and that kind of
stuff. So cute. Love it. And another thing that I saw a lot were very nice, high quality sweatshirts.
Okay. Yeah. So invest in a really nice sweatshirt and girl, you won't be looking like a European.
Okay. And I saw a lot of girls actually pairing these sweatshirts with like a long maxi skirt or
like a mini skirt. Like, you know, like those pleated skirts, the long ones. So the sweatshirt
with the long skirt and then like sock boots and I'm going to be wearing that this fall.
Okay. You're going to see me at Publix in Kroger with my sock boots and nice sweatshirt.
Okay. So moving right along. The next thing that I feel like Europe has changed my perspective
about style is that modesty can be sexy. Girl, can I just say how frustrated I am that in the
United States, we feel like a woman to be sexy, she has to be wearing the tightest dress that she
can find. She has to be showing all the boobage, all the waistline, all the booty. She has to be
showing everything to be sexy. And the Parisian literally has murdered, crushed, literally ate
this idea up, spit it back out and ate it again. Like literally destroyed this idea in my head
because I saw so many girls wearing all black. Black is a big thing in Paris. Like just wearing
a lot of black. So wearing black, wearing turtlenecks, wearing a lot of turtlenecks
that are still tight. They're not extremely baggy. They still show off the figure,
but their turtlenecks and their long sleeve, especially during the winter months and the
fall months, I saw a lot of this and wearing jeans and wearing like a pair of like cute
kitten mules with that. Like I saw so much of that and I was like, oh my god, in Europe, they just are
so comfortable with sexuality. I mean, I could be wrong, but they just like don't feel it necessary
to show it off all the time because it's, I mean, they're just like, well, whatever. It's just the
human body. You don't have to show it off all the time. But yeah, so I saw a lot of turtlenecks,
a lot of really tight turtlenecks, and also wearing it with like a lot of jewelry, a lot of
layered jewelry, a lot of gold jewelry was really cute. Especially wearing all black is like super
sexy because it looks good on anyone. It slims you out. It makes you look classy and it makes
you look expensive, makes you look like she got money, you know. You can be modest and sexy at
the same time, okay. You don't have to be, you know. Okay, so the last thing that I want to talk
about in this video about how Europe completely changed my sense of style is that I learned that
the accessories that you're wearing are just or probably even more important than the actual
outfit. But you can have a basic ass outfit. You can just throw on whatever. And if you are layering
and putting a lot of effort on your jewelry and thinking about, okay, how can I elevate this look
with my accessories, I used to think before going to France, I used to think that if I'm wearing a
lot of necklaces, then it's too much to wear earrings as well. If I'm wearing a lot of bracelets,
then it's too much to wear a lot of rings, that I couldn't wear too much jewelry because it would
look like over the top, it would look too flashy. So investing in nicer jewelry pieces and just
layering them, I think it's so, so cute. And you can just really wear a very plain outfit like a
graphic tee, some boyfriend jeans, some sneakers, and then throw on a lot of jewelry and girl,
okay, like so cute. So I hope that you found this video interesting. I just wanted to, you know,
I just wanted to talk about what I learned about living in Europe. I was there for a long time,
guys. I was there for eight months. That's a long time to not learn anything, you know? So yeah,
I want to go back. I really want to go back. I hope that if you've never been to Europe before,
I really hope that you get an opportunity to go. My last place that I went to was Portugal and
I freaking loved it. It was beautiful. It was like, the beaches were just
like so beautiful. Some of them looked fake. I was like, this is man-made. There's no way.
There's no way. And then, yeah, it wasn't fake. Amazing. So good. Okay, I'm gonna shut up now.
But I hope that you enjoyed. Thanks for sticking around, hanging out with me. Let me know what
you thought. Let me know in the comments. And let me know what you want to see. I would love to do
more fashion videos. I'm trying to really up my game. Oh my god. I'm really trying to up my game
with my fashion videos. I just love fashion so much. So I would love to make more and talk about
more and do more lookbooks, do more like inspiration. I want to do some thrifting,
maybe some thrift flips. We don't know. The possibilities are endless. So yes, I'm gonna
go get some coffee. I'm so tired. You probably don't get that from the camera. But the camera
makes me a little bit hyper. But the minute I turn it off, I'm just gonna be done. But yeah.
So thanks for hanging out with me. I'll see you in the next video. Adios. Bye.
