In this video, on a delightfully frigid day, we take you on the most amazing hike to see some glaciers in Mount Cook National Park. We drive to the base of the Hooker Valley Track to begin the 2 mile hike to the edge of a lake. This walk was so beautiful, Mt. Cook National Park has to be on your list of places to visit in New Zealand!

ALL SEVEN CONTINENTS. Join us on this crazy adventure, and hopefully, you'll be inspired to start your own unique journey! Go peregrinate!
We were like four minutes on our way out and we just got pulled over.
Whoa!
Oh that was so cool!
All right and we have made it to Mount Cook's base and Hooker Valley track.
It's really windy. I don't know if you can hear me. The clouds are out.
It's beautiful here. We might not be able to actually hike up to Mount Cook,
but just driving in New Zealand is amazing.
It's just like the title of our YouTube channel, Peregrination. It's all about the journey.
We are layered up now and we are ready to hike because it is so cold outside,
even though we're just in Antarctica. It's a humid cold here,
which is completely different from what we just had. It was just dry and cold there.
Like negative 20 was fine.
Freezing right now. There's so many people doing this hiking.
It's actually like completely unexpected. I had no idea so many people would be here.
I just love Zach's high waters.
It is beautiful up here. Also we're seeing a lot of kids, which is a first for us.
We were just in Antarctica and there were no kids for five months.
And so seeing like children that are like seven and eight, I'm just like, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi.
How are you today?
Whoa and this is the second of the two bridges that we're crossing.
It is very shaky. Very high up. I love it. I'm not scared of heights. What about you?
This walk is beautiful. We're just in the bottom of where the glacier used to be
and it's just breathtaking. Every time I look up and I see the mist on the mountains, I'm like,
We've been watching helicopters bring stuff in and I just want to be a helicopter pilot now.
Three bridges. We just got on the third one and I feel like I have my sea legs back.
We're about to approach the top and finally see this view that we've been waiting for for so long.
We made it. There's some ice over there, some floating glacier here, and then all
the way over there, that's where the actual glacier is. And I keep thinking these little
things on the glacier are penguins because we just got back from Antarctica
and that was a normal thing to see on icebergs, but they're just rocks.
We just found another glacier and that's the waterfall coming from that one into the same lake.
This is crazy. Maybe this is just coming from someone who's been spoiled by Antarctic glaciers,
but I think the best part of this hike is truly the hike itself,
not what you end up seeing at the very end.
And we just finished the hike. It was lovely. It was a great way to end our trip to New Zealand.
I'm sure it would be great for you to start your trip to New Zealand, but it was awesome to see
the greenery and the brown and the gray and the clouds. So many things going on. And it's rather
close to Christchurch, which is a great airport to fly into if that's how you choose to get here.
So, I don't know. Definitely worth doing.
We were like four minutes on our way out and we just got pulled over and...
By a pedestrian who needed their tire to be changed. So we did. It was this Japanese family
and in return they gave us a liter of Coke Zero.
Which is all we have left. That's just so funny. It was so easy. I'm used to changing my truck's
tires, which are very, very thick, but here it was a car as small as Lea's and it took like five
minutes. I know exactly what to do. But they were like, you changed our lives. We were like,
what are you talking about? So, just thought we should share it with you. So funny.
We are like 18 layers. Let's walk around this puddle.
