Hello ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to another video. My name is Christopher.
We're right outside of Mike Knott Ford in Welland, Ontario.
And today I'm going to be presenting to you the 2017 Ford Explorer Sport.
I did the XLT. I did the Platinum. Now I'm going to present to you the Sport.
So you can do a little comparison. Let's take a close look.
So very unique color on this Ford Explorer. It is the tinted smoked quartz.
Almost like a grayish blue or a sterling.
Different from the Platinum packages, you don't get any chrome on the Sports.
You do get the black handles and the side moldings.
As well as the black roof rails up top.
Of course we have Ford's signature key pass system right on the side.
And you have the rear privacy glass right at the back.
To keep your kids out of the UV light and just give you a bit more privacy.
Okay so with the Sport you do upgrade to the 20 inch machine aluminum wheels.
And you do get the magnetic painted pockets as well right on the inside.
Very nice two tone rim.
And it's sitting on the all season tires.
Which we fill with nitrogen.
So like I said the Sport does come with the black gloss back mirror.
It is a power folding and heated side view mirror.
It does have the LED turning signal right on the outside there.
And the security approach lights as you're walking up to the vehicle it will light up.
Once it senses the key.
It also works in conjunction with the memory system.
Where if you have it set for your drivers position it will memorize the position of your mirror.
And like I said it is a power folding mirror.
So when you shut the car off and on the mirrors come in and out.
And you can see the turning signal right on the outside.
And then as I open the doors they reopen.
This one also comes with the Bliss blind and lane information system.
Which is going to indicate you when someone is in your blind spot.
With an orange light right on the mirror here.
So now we move on to the front of the Ford Explorer.
And you can see it's very aggressive.
Almost Land Rover like.
We do have the nice Explorer badging right across the top.
The big Ford emblem.
And this black painted gloss grill.
It also is going to come with your forward parking sensors.
Which are going to help with your parking.
The headlights are LED signature headlights.
So they give you a lot of visibility and look great as you're driving.
And as you can see there.
And then you do have the LED fog lights for the added visibility.
On the front you also get the forward facing camera.
It's going to help when you're parking.
Very new that they added in 2016 is the wash.
So if there's snow or dirt on it you can just wash it with the push of a button.
So let's open up the hood of the Explorer.
And check out the power plan.
With the Sport you do upgrade to the 3.5 V6 EcoBoost.
Gives you a ton of power.
And great for towing.
It's going to put out about 365 horsepower.
And you're going to be able to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
The fuel consumption rating is 10.7 liters for every 100 kilometers on the highway.
And it's going to come with the Ford standard factory warranty.
Three year 60,000, five year 100,000 and five year roadside assistance.
Unique about the Explorer Sports is you also get the sport tuned suspension.
Which is going to help if you're doing those off road trips or at the cottage or anything like that on the beach.
So the rear of the Ford Explorer Sport is very aggressive looking.
As we can see we do have the sport badging.
And the EcoBoost intelligent four wheel drive badging.
So it is an intelligent four wheel drive system where it's going to automatically switch for you.
And it does have the four different terrain modes which I'll get into detail later.
On the back again we have our Explorer badging just like the front and the large Ford emblem.
The backup camera is right below.
And again the backup camera does have the spray wash.
So you don't have to get out and clean it.
One of my favorite things about the sports is you do get the nice blacked out tail lights here.
It gives it a nice sporty look.
And looks great at night time.
Down below we do have the four parking sensors.
Similar to the ones in the front they're going to help with parking.
And you can see we have this nice squared out chrome dual exhaust.
So one of the coolest things about these upgraded Ford Explorers is where they put the tow hitch.
If you take a look it's right under the compartment here.
And it just snaps off.
You have to be pretty aggressive to take it off because it is on there pretty tight.
Obviously to protect your tow hitch.
But you do have your trailer connectors here.
And like I said the EcoBoost can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
And then it just snaps back on once you have it in the position there.
So you get the power liftgate but you also get the foot activated power liftgate.
Where you just need to give it a kick and it's going to open up.
You can also set the height of the trunk.
If you have a garage with a low ceiling you can lower the height of the trunk.
So that it doesn't hit the top of your garage.
And then to close it you can either use the button function here.
Or you can use the foot again and it will close.
So let's unlock the Ford Explorer and take a closer look.
Right on the key we do have our lock, unlock, our remote start, power liftgate and our panic button.
It is a smart key so you just need to put your hand right on the handle here and it will lock and unlock for you.
Or you can use the security code system to get in the vehicle.
Instantly as you get in the Sport you do get the nice illuminated Explorer kick plates right on the door there.
So with the Sport you do get this gorgeous black ebony leather seat.
It is a perforated seat and it does come with this gorgeous red stitching all throughout the car.
Which gives it a really sporty look.
You also have the 10 way adjustable power ability right down below here.
And obviously the front seats are heated and they are also air conditioned for the summer time.
So the wheel is power adjustable.
Very cool you can move it up and down just with the touch of a button.
And then down below you do have your adjustable pedals as well if you have different drivers.
Very unique about that the driver's seat and the wheel does have 3 memory positions.
So those will set with your memory positions of your seat so you don't have to adjust it every time you switch drivers.
So this one does come with the SYNC 3 brand new navigation system.
I'm a big believer in this.
Check out the video I go into really detail.
I have another video where I go into detail of all the controls and all the features.
But basically your radio, your heating, your phone, your nav, everything is all controlled here.
Very cool right below is the forward facing camera.
So right when I push that it's going to show my forward space there.
And then the sensors will activate as I approach a vehicle.
I can turn on and off the sensors with the controls here.
Our 4 ways are right in the middle.
If I don't want to use the big touch screen here I can use the radio controls and heating controls down here.
It is a dual climate control so I can have the temperature set on each side.
And it is automatic so it will come on and adjust the fans accordingly if you have it set to the automatic mode.
We also have our air conditioned seats and our heated seats right on the controls here as well.
And again if I don't like the hard buttons I can control those just with the touch screen here.
And my heated wheel controls are right on the screen there as well.
So a lot of storage right in the front here.
As you can see we do have a USB and the 12 volt accessory right down below.
Nice leather shifter knob here.
And you can see we also have this additional knob.
This is for your 4 different terrain drive modes.
There's 4 different modes.
There's a normal mode.
There's a sand and desert mode which is perfect on the beach.
There's a mud and rut mode as well.
Which is when you're up at the cottage or on the dirt roads.
And of course there is the snow and sleep mode perfect for Canada here.
Also in the middle there is the hill descent control which is going to help when you're going down a hill.
The center console continues with the red stitching again.
And is very deep inside.
Just like the Platinum there's lots of space inside the center console.
So let's take a look at the steering wheel.
It is a leather wrapped steering wheel.
And it does have the red stitching all throughout.
And it is a heated wheel so great for the winter time.
You can see we also have our 2 control pads which are going to control our vehicle information screens.
Our cruise control.
This specific Ford Explorer does come with the adaptive cruise control.
Which is going to automatically adjust your speed as you're approaching the vehicle in front of you.
So very cool.
And that uses the front sensor and the back sensors as well.
Our Bluetooth controls and radio controls are also right on the wheel.
So I can make calls and answer calls hands free.
With the Bliss information system you also get the lane keeping assist.
So when you deviate from a lane the steering wheel is going to vibrate.
Letting you know that you're moving outside the lane.
One of my favorite things about the vehicle is this vehicle information system.
And here's a close up of the vehicle information system.
As you can see it comes with 2 screens.
The one on the left is more of your vehicle information.
And the one on the right is more for your navigation and your radio and your cell phone controls.
But I can do a ton of things.
Digital tachometer, tire pressure monitor, digital speedometer.
There's your 4 wheel drive system and I can change which drive mode I'm in.
You can also do different things with your towing and your driver's assist.
I can turn on and off the traffic control, the blind spot warning.
And there also is a cross traffic alert.
Where when you're backing up it will notify you if someone's in the backup camera going perpendicular to you.
Also on the wheel we do have the 2 paddle shifters.
The up shift is on the right and the down shift is on the left as you can see here.
You just put it in the sport mode and basically you can use the paddle shifters to drive the car.
Like a standard without a clutch.
Or you can use it when you're towing if you want to maintain the low gear.
First or second gear and keep that low end torque that you need.
So optional to the Ford Explorer Sports is the power sunroof.
There's 2 sunroofs, one in the front and one in the back and it's all power operated.
Opens up just with the touch of a button and closes just with the touch of a button.
But you can see it there and then it opens up in the back as well.
Not going to open the other one outside because the weather is a little bad today at Welland.
But there's a nice shot of the sunroof.
So moving on to the rear of the vehicle.
This one comes with the 2 captain chairs and the center console.
You can choose, some of the other ones come with the front bench.
You can choose to eliminate the center console or not.
So it's very easy for your passengers to access the rear of the vehicle with this power fold system.
You just fold the headrest down and with the touch of a button right on the door here.
The seat folds and then I can pop it right up and I can hop right into the back.
And then it folds down nice and easy there.
So for your passengers in the back you do have your heating controls right in the rear.
And your two USB's and a 110 volt inverter there.
Going to help charge their accessories, laptops and keep them entertained on those long road trips.
This is the center console here.
So you can see it has the gorgeous red stitching.
Two cup holders in the front and then it opens up right from the back.
And there you can see right in the center.
Also another option on this vehicle is these very comfortable inflatable seatbelts.
So when you buckle up, if the airbags deploy this seatbelt is going to blow up and inflate.
To help keep you safe and keep you protected and just prevent any injuries.
So now we're in the back of the Explorer.
This one is a six passenger vehicle so right now it's equipped for your six passengers.
It's very easy to change this configuration on the go.
You can change it from five passenger to six passenger to four passenger to two passenger very easy.
As you can see if I want to put these seats down I just drop the headrest.
And then I can use the power fold buttons right on the inside here and I can fold them up.
You don't have to hold the button once you push it it automatically goes.
So this is the fold mode configuration.
I can also put the snow.
I put the snow away button and then they flip back right into a flat storage surface.
So I can put whatever I need in here.
And then if I have people that I'm picking up I just put it back to the normal mode.
And the seats will open up right there for them.
It almost reminds me of an X that rotates on one single axis.
Almost like a butterfly which is a very innovative system of how to pull the seats up.
And it's very functional when you're working with your family and driving them around.
So thank you very much for watching my video.
