Visited Animal Kingdom at Disney World for the first time since I was 8 and was able to try out their awesome Disney buffet inside Tusker House Restaurant. Also was able to get a table at Tiffins and dinner at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Sanaa. Here is my review of the experience
Hey guys, it's Mike Chen.
Hopefully you've been enjoying the videos from Florida.
This next one's a long one.
My first time visiting Animal Kingdom.
Also my first time at a Disney all-you-can-eat buffet.
But before we get to that, a big thank you and shout out to the sponsor of this video,
Magic Spoon Cereal.
And yes, I'm eating it from a ramen cup.
Let me explain.
It's three o'clock in the morning here.
I woke up starving.
Nothing to eat.
Obviously, everything's closed.
Luckily, I always carry a couple boxes of this in my suitcase.
Needed a cup and here we are.
Anyway, I've been talking about this cereal for I think over a year now.
I told you guys I have this obsession with cereal.
Pretty much every single buffet I've been to, if they have a cereal section, I am 100% getting a bowl.
But cereal, not the best stuff for you.
So as I'm getting older, I'm trying to eat less, but I still want it.
So I actually found Magic Spoon before they reached out to me to be a sponsor on my show.
And been enjoying it ever since.
So right now, I typically eat a bowl for breakfast.
And then sometimes I'll use this as a dinner meal substitute.
What I like about this, Magic Spoon Cereals have zero grams of sugar,
13 to 14 grams of protein, 4 net carbs, and only 140 calories per serving.
They're gluten-free, grain-free, soy-free, low-carb, and of course, keto-friendly.
And most important thing, it's got to taste good.
So that's why every time I travel in my suitcase, I'll use two boxes of this.
And it's never boring.
One of my favorite flavor, peanut butter.
There's also other great flavors like fruity, frosted, cocoa, blueberry.
So if you want to give it a try, click my link down below.
You can build your very own variety box.
Use my promo code DUMPLATE for $5 off.
Like I said, tons of great flavors.
There's also cookies and cream, maple, waffles, cinnamon.
And what I love about Magic Spoon is that they have 100% happiness guarantee.
So if you don't like it for whatever reason, get your money back.
So again, click the link down below.
Use my promo code DUMPLATE for $5 off.
Or just go to magicspoon.com slash dumpling.
And if you are in Canada or the UK, Magic Spoon now ships there too.
All right, I'm going to finish my super late dinner or breakfast, whatever you call this.
Enjoy the video.
He's got our tickets.
Mickey for me and Minnie for you.
No, it's Minnie for you.
Look it.
This is my first time Animal Kingdom.
When I was here at eight years old, I had a choice between Animal Kingdom or the beach.
I chose the beach.
Christine, of course, is a Disney pro.
Don't you have like a yearly pass or something?
I didn't have a yearly pass.
We used to come every year.
First stop, of course, food at the World of Avatar, Satuli Canteen.
And this, this is some inventive stuff.
First dish.
This is slices of roast beef, slaw on the bottom.
Red and sweet potato hash.
You need that.
Garlic, charred green onion vinaigrette.
There's red and sweet peppers in here.
And what's really kind of cool about this is, look at this, boba balls on top.
This, I guess, symbolizes eggs.
Never seen boba ball used in a savory dish before.
And I think what you're supposed to do is just mix it all together.
This is going to be really unique.
Let me get a little bit with the beef and the slaw and the sauce.
Make sure to get one of these balls on top.
First bite of food in Animal Kingdom.
Not too shabby.
It's way better than I thought.
I mean, first of all, visually, it's a pretty dish.
A lot of different colors with the red pepper, a little white from the slaw, carrots.
A little popping boba on top makes you feel like you're eating alien eggs, I guess.
Texture is nice.
There's crunch.
Potatoes are nice and mushy.
Flavor-wise, really good.
It's spicy, it's citrusy, it's garlicky.
The roast beef is actually supremely tender.
And the popping boba just gives off a little nice sweet twist to it.
This?
Really not a bad dish.
Kind of an upgraded bowl of stir-fried home fries with sliced roast beef.
And there's a lot of stuff in here from ingredients to spices.
And what's kind of spectacular about this is the roast beef.
We see them cooking it.
And I thought originally they were just like cooking a bunch of giant pieces of steak.
But they're cooking this.
And they did a tremendous job on this.
This is the best part of this.
I mean, supremely, supremely tender.
This, put on a sandwich, put in anything, is gonna be good.
Finally, dessert.
A blueberry cream cheese mousse.
Looks like a meringue on top.
Some kind of yellow mousse and a...
Oh, there we go.
There's the blueberry mousse.
This is cool.
This is awesome.
Wow.
Besides the steak, 100%.
Get this.
The raspberry sauce on the bottom of the plate doesn't really amount to much.
It's creamy.
Really nice, delicious blueberry flavor in the mousse.
Oh, I think it's some kind of lemon mousse.
So far, overall, Avatar.
Love the food.
Excited for the movie.
Next stop, Restaurant Asore's for 50th anniversary milkshake.
Put a cookie on top.
Simplified is vanilla ice cream, a cookie, and fruity pebbles.
And whipped cream on top, I think.
I'm eating this first because this thing is melting like crazy.
I mean, it's a pretty cool day here in Florida, but it's still harsh 70 degrees.
It basically tastes like cereal served from the back of an ice cream truck,
which means that's pretty darn good.
This is the 50th anniversary of Disney World,
so a lot of these kind of desserts around the park...
That fruity pebble cookie.
That's a fun-tasting fruity pebble cookie.
Now, the fun stuff's out of the way.
Let's get down to business.
We are in the land of dinosaurs right now,
so I think in the era of Flintstones, hot dogs would be the size of this.
Foot-long cheesy chili dog, loaded with beans and chili.
To tell the truth, I'm a little nervous.
I got a buffet to go to in about an hour,
so I'm not sure how I'm gonna feel after this.
I don't know if I'm just really hungry or what, but...
This is a delicious cheesy chili dog.
Mainly the sausage, mainly the dog itself.
Nice, plump, juicy, got a nice snap.
Great beefy flavor.
This is a delicious hot dog.
I mean, the chili is just okay, but that is a delicious dog.
And this whole thing goes down super easy.
Halfway done, and I feel like I can't wait to take another bite.
Let's use the McDonald method to eat these french fries.
French fries, dunk it into the ice cream.
Melted ice cream at this point.
That's a deliciously sweet, refreshing way to eat french fries.
After this, going on a ride, and then buffet time.
First ride of the day, going on a safari.
This is the first time I've ever been in a restaurant in Disney.
Usually just grab whatever food is available.
We made reservations.
We're able to get into Tiffin's, which is like an art gallery-themed restaurant.
I think the most popular restaurant in Animal Kingdom is called Yak and Yeti.
Couldn't get reservations for that.
I think that is filled up like weeks in advance.
There's a couple things here that you gotta get.
First of all, got the honey chili glazed pork belly.
Look at this.
Little quail egg on the bottom.
Sitting on a chorizo and cheese biscuit.
Gravy on the bottom.
Look at this pork belly.
I hope it's not dry.
That is freaking delicious.
Well done on that, Disney.
That pork belly.
That's a delicious pork belly.
Especially the fatty part with the beautiful char on top.
You get a nice thin layer of fat right above the meat.
That's the tenderest part.
That part just basically melts in your mouth.
That's all I gotta say.
This little cheesy biscuit.
This thing tastes like a fancier version of the red lobster cheese biscuits.
This thing and gravy.
Absolutely delicious.
And check it out.
This is their house bread.
This is the pomegranate focaccia bread.
Tons of spices on top.
And right over here, pomegranate molasses.
Thank you.
Delicious bread.
Oh, I messed up a little bit.
The top is just olive oil.
I didn't even get the molasses on the bottom.
You told me a little bit of this molasses goes a long way.
He isn't kidding.
Yeah, you taste the heck out of that.
The other must-try dish.
Entire fried striped bass over black bean sauce.
This one looks like a dragon almost.
Completely fried, served under what looks like papaya and carrot salad.
And all that sitting on top of fermented black bean sauce.
It's like protecting its treasure.
And its treasure is salad.
I don't even know how to start with this.
Oh, that's flaky meat.
I like the fact that the fish is standing up.
Because in Chinese culture, when the fish is kind of laying flat on a plate,
you're not supposed to flip it over to get to their side.
Otherwise, you're flipping over your fortune.
So when it's like this, you don't have to flip it over.
Some of that fermented black bean sauce.
This is absolutely delicious.
This is one of the best dishes I've had at any Disney park.
I mean, yeah, I love fish and I love fried whole fish.
This is done perfectly.
The meat is so amazing and flaky and tender.
Just as on its own.
Delicious.
The fermented black bean sauce.
On the bottom, on top of the fermented bean sauce is a bit of black rice.
This is great.
Veggies and cilantro provides a nice refreshing bite and crunch.
I wonder if this is going to be what I think it is.
Oh, the chips.
That's the sign of a quality fried fish,
where you can basically eat every single part of this thing.
I love this.
First of all, I like any fish where you leave the head on.
I'm a big fan of that because a lot of good eating in the head,
especially along the cheek area right over there.
And this thing as well.
There's eyeballs.
According to my grandma, eat a fish eyeball, have great eyesight.
Seriously, never need glasses.
This is a big fish.
We've been eating this for the last 15 minutes.
There's still like a lot of meat left.
Also, I like about this,
when you're taking bites of the nice tender meat,
you get bits of the crunchy skin as well.
Is this one of the best dishes you've had?
You think so?
We get a lot of fish in this plate.
I thought it was kind of small in the beginning when he brought it over.
Yeah, because it's, yeah, there's a lot of meat.
I keep forgetting about this buffet that's coming up.
I thought it was like an hour, but three more hours.
We can eat a bunch of food before then though.
Just finishing.
Apparently, like every time you eat here, they give you a different sketch.
Again, my first time dining in a restaurant inside one of Disney's parks.
Whole experience is pretty nice.
Everyone's like overly nice, like very on the Disney branch.
Makes you feel good.
Next ride, Expedition Everest.
This is really cool.
So this whole area looks like bottom of the Himalayas.
And getting ready to get on the ride,
you got water bottles, you got climbing gear everywhere.
Disney does a really good job with this.
What I do like about Disney rides, they last a while.
All right, feeling a little dry now.
So moved on to the next food item.
Pulled pork inside a jelly donut.
Oh, this jelly donut seems to be seasoned a little with some chili flakes and pepper.
Inside some slaw barbecue sauce, pulled pork on the bottom.
I think I had a donut sandwich once in my life in Chicago,
which nothing too memorable.
But I don't know why, but when I saw pulled pork donut sandwich,
this felt like this is the only thing I wanted in the world.
A couple bites in, a bunch of jelly just squirted out of this donut.
I mean, this is super, super sweet.
I know my parents are probably cringing watching me eat this.
For some reason, I can't stop shoving this in my mouth.
This is a really good jelly donut.
Pulled pork is tender, especially this bite with the jelly covering the meat,
which you would think probably won't be all that appetizing.
I think that might be my favorite part.
I don't think I've ever craved for a jelly donut sandwich before,
and I never thought I would actually like it.
I'm loving this.
I think it's buffet time.
Oh, they're coming?
Oh, nice, nice, nice.
All right, so let me show you guys what's on the menu.
This place, again, it used to be like a buffet buffet,
but now they take away the part where you go up and grab it yourself.
They bring everything to your table.
Still all you can eat.
Okay, so starters.
House-made bread with hummus, coriander, mango chutney,
African-inspired salads,
sides, jasmine rice, mac and cheese,
impossible Durban curry.
Let's look at the entrees.
This is what really matters.
Moroccan spiced beef,
Cape Malay green curry shrimp,
spit roasted herb chicken,
Berber marinated pork.
Then the dessert.
Animal-inspired mini desserts and chocolate mousse.
Oh, there's Mickey?
Bread tray came.
That red pepper hummus is delicious.
Also the coriander chutney.
There's a mango chutney, coriander chutney.
Wow, mango chutney is so spicy and sweet.
This is all homemade?
Wow, this is delicious.
The bread is homemade?
The lentil chips are homemade too.
Whoa, look at this.
A little bun.
Wow, something bad just happened.
This is really not good.
That bread, this thing, this is really yummy.
That's not a good thing.
This with butter, even more yummy.
My first all-you-can-eat Disney buffet.
I gotta pace myself.
Here we go.
Let me show you what I got.
Moroccan spiced beef right here.
Herb chicken right here.
Berber marinated pork.
Curry shrimp over rice.
Pour some mac and cheese here.
I really hope this is not good
because if this is good, I'm in trouble.
If the bread is good and the mac and cheese are good,
the two most filling thing on the table is delicious.
Not gonna be able to control myself.
I just asked for a giant one of the mango chutney.
This is so good.
Also, if you don't know what berber is,
it's traditional Moroccan Ethiopian spice used predominantly on meats.
Oh, thank you so much.
Yeah, thank you.
Here we go.
You know you're in Disney when your food wishes are coming true.
Giant mango chutney.
Look at that.
Beef looks juicy.
And the pork.
Oh, this is a good piece.
Look at that.
That is some tender pork.
Oh, this thing's just falling apart.
Here, try this.
Hey, Daisy.
Big fan.
You're awesome.
This restaurant's really cool.
They come by with these curators and ask you if you want to take photos with them.
That's a tender, juicy looking piece of beef.
I'm just happy there's no duck on this plate.
That beef is good.
Oh, the spices are so nice.
Can't wait to actually go to Morocco and eat this.
That beef is cooked amazingly well.
Nice char on the outside.
Extremely tender.
Oh, wow.
Speaking of tender, look at this piece of pork.
Oh, that is some melt-in-your-mouth goodness.
Oh, even the vegetables taste good just because it's touching that seasoning.
Ah, crap.
This is good mac and cheese.
The pork is tender, but it's missing a little bit of seasoning.
I think you gotta put some of this coriander chutney onto the piece of pork.
Oh, yeah.
Chicken is good with the mango chutney.
Oh, even better.
Oh, yeah.
Douse that mango chutney on the meat.
I think overall, the meat is cooked really, really well.
Like all the meats, chicken, pork, and beef.
The beef has the most flavor because it's got that Moroccan seasoning on it.
Other stuff, again, cooked well.
A little bland.
That's what the chutney is there for.
That sweet and spicy, juicy chutney.
Doing magic on the flavoring here.
Forgot about the shrimp.
Green curry shrimp.
Flavor-wise, this is the best dish.
Good curry flavor and just totally steeped into this rice.
I mean, the shrimp is good, but you don't really even need it.
Just a touch of that curry and some rice.
Oh, that alone makes me happy.
Right away, you get a hit of that coconut.
And that is balanced out by some nice citrus and ginger.
Also, I gotta say, the rice is delicious.
Again, that meat is good, but all the flavor is right in this curry.
Also, there's one more curry on the menu.
An impossible meat curry.
Let's try that too.
All right, this is it.
This is the impossible Durban curry.
I was in South Africa for a month.
This is before my YouTube days.
Never filmed.
They ate so much good food though.
Really want to go back.
I've always said that's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been in my life.
Never been to Durban though.
Oh, that's good.
First of all, the meat.
If you don't tell me it's not meat, I'm not gonna question you.
The curry is spicy.
You taste the cinnamon.
You taste the cumin.
Again, this rice is so delicious.
Just mix it up.
Get the curry to cover up every single grain.
There's some chickpeas in here.
I think maybe a little mango chutney as well.
This itself is the perfect complement with rice.
Wow.
All right, dessert time.
There's four desserts you can get here.
First of all, a Mickey buttercream cupcake.
Tree of Life brownie.
If you ever come here, you'll see animals carved into the Tree of Life.
I think me and Christine guessed about maybe 50.
There's over 300.
And a honeybee cake.
Just learned an interesting fact from our server, who is wonderful by the way.
Did you know elephants are fit of honeybees?
I didn't know that.
I think that's why there's a lot of beehive looking lamps around this place.
So anytime you don't want elephants to go anywhere, you put a beehive?
Didn't know.
Thought they're just scared of mice.
Cupcake is good.
Tree of Life brownie.
That just tastes like a protein bar.
I guess I could see why that tree is flourishing right now.
From the thickness and richness of the soil that is this brownie.
Wow.
Wish they had some tea over here.
Finally.
Best dessert by a mile.
This honeybee cake.
This is delicious.
Cream is so light.
The chocolate cake is moist and fluffy.
This is delicious.
And a vegan chocolate mousse.
And these are little dehydrated fruits on the bottom.
Mousse is good too.
So recap.
If you're coming here, best food.
All the different sauces for the bread, amazing.
Steak, Durban curry, green curry is great.
I think green curry is the best thing here.
Dessert, honeybee cake.
Definitely ask for the vegan chocolate mousse.
Vegan or not, this chocolate mousse is delicious.
This is a fun place.
First of all, the decor is really nice.
They told me all the decorations were actually brought here from Africa.
It just looks like we're in a vibrant market right now.
I mean, Disney always do a really good job on the decor of a place.
And for my first all-you-can-eat food experience in Disney.
I mean, you're paying Disney prizes for this, but food's not bad.
If you don't want to wait for three hours for photos with Mickey or Minnie or
Daffy or Donald, this is a good place for you.
Fun a place to maybe take a nap and get ready for dinner.
Dinner is inside the Animal Kingdom Lodge at this restaurant called Sanam.
Look at this.
One, two, three, four, five.
Nine dipping sauces.
Four.
Five different types of naan.
Top one is spicy.
Second one, garlic ginger.
Third one is traditional naan.
Fourth one, paneer paratha.
Last one, onion kocha.
They order it from spicy to not spicy.
Red chili sambal.
Spicy jalapeno lime.
Coriander chutney.
Garlic pickle.
Red pepper hummus.
Tomato date jam.
Tamarind chutney.
Mango chutney.
And cucumber raita.
Just so many combinations.
And this is just the appetizer.
This is just the breast service.
But I think this might be the most exciting part of dinner.
Let's just go from mild to spicy.
But raita's spicy too.
It's creamy though.
The mango chutney tastes better than the one I had earlier.
I'm really excited about this.
Garlic pickle.
You can tie your cloves of garlic with this.
Oh that's good.
I don't know how you guys feel about eating whole cloves of garlic.
I love it.
Jalapeno pickle.
Jalapeno lime.
Amazing as well.
Red chili sambal.
Spiciest.
Red chili sambal is the spiciest.
I don't think anything is over the top.
Yeah that will let you up.
My favorite.
The sambal of course.
Because of that pure heat.
The garlic.
Because whole cloves of garlic.
Who doesn't love that?
And again the mango chutney.
So delicious.
The spicy bread delicious.
And the bread.
You don't need tips or anything.
This is good.
This is amazing on its own.
And I love the fact that all the sauces are spicy.
There's not even an option of a non-spicy sauce.
The paneer paratha.
That might be my favorite one.
This definitely needs some chilies.
Dip that in the sambal.
Also main courses here.
Seafood curry.
Cilantro coconut vegetables.
And basmati rice.
Oh this curry is salmon and shrimp I think they said.
Giant pieces of fish and shrimp.
The vegetables itself look amazing.
Coconut cilantro.
Big chunks of what looks like maybe sweet potatoes.
Carrots and the mamey.
The curry is nice.
The seafood's a little citrusy.
The sauce is cooked in.
It's way more flavorful than the seafood.
If you just give me the vegetables and the rice.
I'd be pretty darn happy.
Some of that burning sambal.
This should work with the coconut.
That sambal works with the creamy coconut sauce so well.
The best part of all this so far.
Bread.
The sauces.
The vegetables.
The seafood here.
The seafood curry is kind of sour.
Or citrusy.
And so was the garlic noodles this morning.
Which I didn't really expect to be sour.
It was really sour.
For me the sourness kind of throws me off a little bit.
All right this dessert looks incredible.
It's a mousse made with dark chocolate from Ghana.
Milk chocolate from Madagascar.
And golden chocolate.
And on top of that I think.
What are these?
Like Mickey Mouse sprinkles?
Yeah Mickey Mouse sprinkles.
On top of like a almond biscuit.
Strawberries.
That is freaking tremendous.
Incredible melt-in-your-mouth chocolate.
With a little cake on the bottom.
And a crunchy shell.
Wow.
This top chocolate.
This is a gold chocolate.
It has what's called muscovado sugar in there.
So it gives it a golden hue.
And it tastes a bit like licorice.
Eat that with a pot of tea.
Perfect end to a magical food day.
Here in Animal Kingdom.
I wish we came to this restaurant earlier.
When it's still light outside.
Because apparently there's animals walking around nearby.
You can see them through the window.
What's the best thing you think we ate today?
This?
That is really good.
Really?
You like the shredded beef too?
That was good.
I think the shrimp curry is the best flavor though.
The shrimp curry over rice.
That was awesome.
Again the most talked about restaurant in Animal Kingdom.
Yak and Giddy.
We didn't get to go.
I looked at the menu.
What was the number thing on there?
Chicken fried rice?
Chicken fried rice.
Tuna poki nachos in lo mein, right?
Sesame chicken in lo mein.
I mean I didn't taste it.
It could be some magical chicken fried rice.
I don't know.
Maybe we missed out on the best lo mein in the kingdom.
We'll try that next time.
But today I felt like we had a good food day.
So if you are visiting Animal Kingdom, hopefully this food review has been helpful to you.
And as always, thank you all so much for watching.
Until we eat again, see you later.
